Cradily (Japanese: ユレイドル Yuradle) is a dual-type Rock/Grass fossil Pokémon.

It evolves from Lileep starting at level 40, after it is revived from a Root Fossil.

Biology

Physiology

Cradily is a mostly green Pokémon that seems to resemble a plant, with various yellow markings on its head, neck, and torso. Although the circular yellow markings on its head appear to be its eyes, Cradily's true eyes are yellow half-circles covered by a mask-like section of black on the front of its head. It also has eight pink tentacles that surround its neck at the base of its head and resemble petals on a flower. Its body is short and squat, with four stubby leg-like growths. Cradily is an ancient Pokémon no longer found in the wild, and must be evolved from a Lileep resurrected from a Root Fossil.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Cradily's strength is far greater than that of its pre-evolution. Before its extinction, it was able to roam the seafloor in search of its prey, and upon finding it, Cradily used its massive tentacles to grip and then eat its prey. Its tentacles secrete corrosive acid that it uses to melt its prey.

Behavior

In ancient times, Cradily moved around the seafloor with stealth in search of its prey. It was a powerful hunter, and was very vicious to its prey while preparing to eat it. It made its nests in shallow waters of the warm seas.

Habitat

Before its extinction, Cradily inhabited environments adjacent to bodies of water, such as seas or oceans, particularly in warm areas. Its personal nest was often made in the shoals of the sea. It was a common sight on beaches when the tides receded.

To prevent being washed out by rough tides, Cradily utilized its body as an anchor.

Root Fossils, from which this Pokémon is resurrected, have been found in the Hoenn and Sinnoh regions.

Diet

Main article: Pokémon food

Cradily appear to have once been carnivores, as it both hunted and ingested prey found in seafloors or its immediate surroundings using its eight tentacles.

Cradily was first seen in Where's Armaldo? on Wales Island.

Minor appearances

One made another cameo in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew in the Tree of Beginning. It appeared as a white blood cell along with other white blood cells shaped as Pokémon to attack Ash and his friends

Cradily also made a small appearance in Dealing With Defensive Types! with an Armaldo.

Trivia

  • Cradily's Shiny colors resemble its pre-evolution.
  • Despite being the Barnacle Pokémon, and being confirmed to live in water, Cradily is not a Water-type Pokémon. It shares this trait with its pre-evolution Lileep, and its fossil counterparts Anorith and Armaldo.
  • Despite being the two types with the most weaknesses, Grass and Rock, it has only four weaknesses.
  • Cradily is the only Pokémon with Pokéathlon stats where each one is a different level.
  • In Generation III and IV, Cradily's tentacles are an orange color. This was changed in Generation V to pink as it is in the official Ken Sugimori artwork. Its Shiny form retains the orange color.
