Eevee (Japanese: イーブイ Eievui) is a Normal-type Pokémon.
Eevee is an "Evolution Pokémon". It is called this because it can evolve into one of several kinds of Pokémon by usage of various methods. It is the starter Pokémon for the main character of Pokémon XD, and the starter Pokémon for the rival in Pokémon Yellow.
Eevee can evolve three ways by evolutionary stone during each and every generation: it becomes the Water-type Pokémon Vaporeon with a Water Stone, the Fire-type Flareon with a Fire Stone, and the Electric-type Jolteon with a Thunderstone. These are the most common evolutions due to the ease at which they can be obtained, however, later generations released four more evolutions.
In Generation II, Eevee got two new evolutions. Both of these evolutions are achieved through Happiness. It can evolve into the Psychic-type Pokémon, Espeon, if, after it reaches the required Happiness value, it gains a level during the day. If it reaches this value, and then levels up during the night, it evolves into the Dark-type Pokémon, Umbreon. In Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, it evolves into Espeon between noon and midnight and Umbreon between midnight and noon. An Eevee cannot evolve into Espeon or Umbreon in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, due to their lack of an internal clock; the Eevee must be traded to one of the Hoenn-based games in order to evolve into the two.
In Generation IV, Eevee has two more evolutions, the Grass-type Leafeon and the Ice-type Glaceon, which are achieved by having Eevee gain a level at Moss Rock and Ice Rock, respectively.
Biology
Physiology
Eevee is a mammalian creature with brown fur, a bushy tail that has a cream-colored tip, and a furry collar that is also cream-colored. Eevee has black eyes and big ears. Eevee has an irregular genetic code and can sometime evolve in accordance to its environment. Seven evolutions for this Pokémon have been discovered so far. Three of these evolutions can also be the result of Eevee being exposed to either a Fire Stone, Thunder Stone or Water Stone.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Most of Eevee's offensive moves are Normal-type attacks; such as Tackle and Quick Attack, but it can also Bite its opponents and use Shadow Ball. Eevee can also learn supportive moves such as Helping Hand and Wish. Eevee is one of the four Pokémon that learn the Trump Card attack. Some Eevee specimens have the ability Adaptability which makes any Normal-type attack that they use become stronger than when used by any other Normal-type Pokémon whose attack power is the same as Eevee's. Eevee is said to have an irregularly shaped genetic structure, enabling it to evolve into multiple Pokémon. This code may also shed some light on its ability, Adaptability.
Behavior
Habitat
Eevee are quite rare in the wild. They sometimes live near cities and towns. It is possible for Eevee to live almost anywhere, and they may evolve to suit their surroundings.

In the anime
Eevee first appeared in The Battling Eevee Brothers. A little boy named Mikey was hiding the Evolution Pokémon from his three older brothers because they wanted him to evolve it. However, when Mikey's Eevee single-handedly defeated Team Rocket, Sparky, Rainer and Pyro were able to accept the fact that Mikey wanted to keep his Eevee just the way it is.
Gary's Eevee debuted in The Rivalry Revival, defeating Ash's Pikachu. It evolved into an Umbreon some time before Power Play.
Sakura had an Eevee in Trouble's Brewing. When Ash and co. met up with Sakura in Espeon Not Included, her Eevee evolved into an Espeon.
May recieved an egg from a Daycare Worker in May's Egg-Cellent Adventure. The egg hatched into an Eevee in Time-Warp Heals All Wounds.
In the manga
Eevee is seen in Pokémon Special as a Pokémon experimented on by Team Rocket, in their tests to attempt merging Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres into a single Pokémon. The experiments gave Eevee the characteristic of being able to mutate into three of its evolved forms, namely Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon, though not at will. Red eventually captures this Eevee. When it evolves into Espeon, however, it loses its mutation ability.
Like in the anime, Eevee is featured in The Electric Tale of Pikachu under the ownership of Mikey.
In the TFG
One Eevee figure has been released.
Other appearances
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Eevee only appears as a random trophy.
Trophy information
As adaptable a Pokémon as any yet discovered, Eevee's evolutionary progress changes to meet the conditions of its environment. So far, five evolutionary forms have been discovered and then catalogued for this unique Pokémon; Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, and Umbreon. All evolutions have special benefits.

Evolution
Trivia
- Fans have come up with a term to refer to all Pokémon which evolve from Eevee: Eeveelutions.
- In Pokémon Ranger, all of Eevee's evolutions up to the third generation can be "captured." However, Eevee cannot even be found at all.
- Eevee's evolutions remain some of the most popular non-legendary Pokémon to be used by players of the Pokémon games.
- Eevee's name is a palindrome.
Origin
Name origin
Eevee's name is a pronunciation of E-V, the first two letters in the word Evolution.
It has traits of foxes, dogs, and cats.
Eevee was originally going to be called "Eon," the suffix of all the evolutions of Eevee, which probably is a shortening of "evolution".
Eon also means a very long time, which is how long it takes for Eevee to evolve without the aid of an evolutionary stone.
