Route 9 (Japanese: 9ばんどうろ Route 9) is a route in the north-central Unova, connecting the Tubeline Bridge and Opelucid City. In Black and White, Route 9 also holds the entrance to Challenger's Cave, which is only accessible after defeating the Elite Four.
Route description
Route 9 is a short, forested route, dominated by a paved road that connects Tubeline Bridge and Opelucid City. There are six Trainers, and one Double Battle. Two of the Trainers are moving, while the others are stationary. To the north of the route is Shopping Mall Nine, with two vending machines to the right. At the bottom of the route are several tall grass patches and dark grass patches, separated by trees. After going down stairs, a Black Belt will be blocking the entrance to Challenger's Cave. After completing the game, Challenger's Cave may be entered. In Black 2 and White 2, after the Plasma Frigate freezes the nearby Opelucid City, part of this route will be frozen, making the player slide on ice in order to enter Shopping Mall Nine.
