Route 16
Route 16 is a quiet road, and the northern end of Cycling Road. Two new Pokémon species—the Fire-type Slugma and the Dark/Flying Murkrow—can be found here. Slugma can be found at all hours, while Murkrow only appears at night.

Route 17
Route 17 is Cycling Road itself, stretching between Route 16 in the north and Route 18 in the south. The place is a favorite hangout spot for Bikers, and Pokémon like Grimer and Slugma can be found in the tall grass.

Fuchsia City
Fuchsia City's unique tourist attraction, the Safari Zone, has closed because the Warden is traveling. The exhibits outside the building have fallen into disrepair, and the exotic Pokémon have wandered off to the surrounding areas. The only thing left to do is challenge the local Gym.

Fuchsia Gym
FUCHSIA CITY
POKéMON GYM
LEADER: JANINE
The Poisonous
Ninja Master
The Poison-specialist Fuchsia Gym is the same ninja training ground that it always has been, complete with invisible walls. However, Koga's promotion to the Elite Four left a vacant Gym Leader position, a title now held by his daughter, Janine. She and her Gym Trainers are adept at disguise, dressing alike to conceal the Gym Leader's true location. Psychic-type attacks will see the greatest effectiveness, but as many of the Pokémon here are part-Grass or part-Ground as well, they are also vulnerable to Fire and Water moves, respectively. As Janine is still inexperienced, her Pokémon's levels have only reached the 30s, so almost any attack from your battle-tested team can take them out quickly. Look out for Toxic, Confuse Ray, and Explosion, and cure status ailments as soon as possible.
|
Janine awards you the Soul Badge, which gives your party a slight Defense boost in battle. She also hands over TM06 (Toxic), a centuries-old ninja technique, as a prize.
The ocean route leading south from the city is blocked by debris that landed here after the eruption on Cinnabar Island. The only other way out of Fuchsia is east to Route 15.
