Pokémon Kids (Japanese: ポケモンキッズ Pokémon Kids) is a series of soft vinyl figures produced by Bandai. The series began in Japan in October 1996. Pokémon Kids are small, 4—5 cm (1.5"—2") PVC finger puppet figures. Until BW, most series had special clear plastic variants as secret figures. Other releases include the Attack Pose series, Pokémon Daisuki Club shiny variants, and deluxe large sized versions. Each figure comes with a ramune flavored candy tablet and a sticker with the Pokémon's Pokédex data. They are recommended for ages 3 and up.
During Generation IV, some of these figures were released in special packs in Europe and Australia, with no change to the figures themselves outside of the different packaging.
Main series
Starting in 1996, Pokémon Kids began as blind packaged figures, with a feature or focal Pokémon on the box of most releases which served as the main attraction for that specific release. Beginning with the start of the FireRed & LeafGreen series in May 2004, Pokémon Kids were no longer blind packaged; instead, each box now featured the Pokémon it contained, displaying artwork of the Pokémon and a picture of the figure. However, the Advance series continued to have blind packaged figures until its ninth installment in April 2005. The series saw another packaging redesign with the Diamond & Pearl series debut in 2006, where the boxes would often be color-coded to the elemental type of the Pokémon inside in addition to featuring their image on the front. This set the current series trend for the Best Wishes series in 2010, the XY series in 2013, and the current Sun & Moon series in 2016.
