Buizel (Japanese: ブイゼル Buoysel) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.
It evolves into Floatzel starting at level 26.
Biology
Physiology
Buizel possesses mainly mammalian characteristics with orange fur and paws as well as resembling a realistic cross between a weasel and a sea otter. The collar that is around its neck can be inflated and used as a flotation device when the Pokémon inhales. Buizel also carries characteristics of sea creatures, in that it has two blue fins on its arms and two tails, appearing to be split up which makes it resemble an Espeon's, that resembles a fish's fin. Its tail acts as a boat propeller by spinning. There are parallel marks on their cheeks quite similar to those of Furret.
Gender differences
From back view, the males have two white spots and the females only have one.
Special abilities
Buizel can apparently both fly and propel itself through water by spinning their tails like propellers. Buizel can also use its tail for firing SonicBoom and Razor Wind attacks. It is one of the 11 Pokémon that can learn Aqua Jet.
Behavior
In Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea Buizel acted a bit like a dog. It came up and licked Max and messed with the Manaphy Egg like it was a toy.
Habitat
This Pokémon most likely found near swift-moving rivers.
Diet
- Main article: Pokémon food
It could be suggested that it is a carnivore that preys on fish, but it is unknown for certain. However, it does have an affinity with the Wacan Berry, as it is occasionally found with this berry.
In the anime
In Buizel's debut, it is one of the Pokémon owned by a family traveling circus performers during the movie, Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. It wasn't seen performing with them; however, it was treated more like a pet.
Buizel makes an appearance in Pikachu's Island Adventure as one of the Pokémon who helps to save a playground that Meowth took over.
A Buizel was seen used in a contest in Mounting a Coordinator Assault.
Dawn caught a male Buizel in Buizel Your Way Out of This. In Throwing the Track Switch, she traded him for Ash's Aipom because Buizel was more interested in Gym battles than Contests.

Trivia
- Buizel was one of three Pokémon revealed in March 2006 in promotions for Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, along with Mantyke and Chatot.
- Every Buizel that has been shown in the anime is a male.
- Despite the fact it and its evolution Floatzel are Template:Type2 and have two tails, neither can learn Aqua Tail, even through breeding. In Platinum, Floatzel can learn it by move tutor.
Origin
Buizel seems to be based on an otter. The fact that Buizel spins its forked-tail like a propeller is not unlike that of Tails of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, and this was, in fact, highlighted in Mounting a Coordinator Assault.
Name origin
Buizel is a corruption of its Japanese name, Buoysel, which is believed to be a combination of buoy and weasel.
In other languages
- German: Bamelin - From Hermelin (ermine)
- French: Mustébouée - Combination of Mustelidae, the family that otters and weasels come from and bouée (bouy).
- Korean: 브이젤 Beuijel
