Trivia
- According to the Pokédex, Banette's cursed energy would escape from its body if its mouth came unzipped. Despite this, its fainting animation in the console battle games features it unzipping and opening its mouth. The anime also had several instances with its mouth open.
Origin
Its appearance and habit of sticking itself with pins is highly reminiscent of voodoo dolls.
Name origin
Banette's name is a combination of bane and marionette, or perhaps 'banter', referring to the way it skips about. Its Japanese name may be a corruption of Jupiter or a reference to Geppetto, a woodcarver who built a puppet that came to life in the story of Pinocchio. It may also come from 呪縛 jubaku, curse or spell, and puppet, the "ban" part may also originate from banish.
