Silcoon (Japanese: カラサリス Karasalis) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves from Wurmple starting at level 7, and it evolves into Beautifly starting at level 10.

Biology

Physiology

Silcoon is simply a cocoon-like Pokémon with spikes covering it. There is a small hole in its cocoon that it can see through with its two red eyes. It is very similar to Cascoon.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Silcoon has a hard cocoon that can repel enemy attacks.

Behavior

Silcoon, being merely a cocoon, cannot do much more than quietly hang from a tree branch, waiting for the right conditions for evolution. It hardens frequently.

Silcoon prefer to live in dark forests. They prefer to hide and can be rare to find.

Diet

Main article: Pokémon food

Silcoon nourishes itself by drinking dew and rainwater that gets collected on its silk. It also uses the energy it stored as a Wurmple to survive.

May's Silcoon

In A Corphish out of Water, May's Wurmple evolved into a Silcoon alongside Jessie's Wurmple which evolved into a Cascoon. Both promptly evolved into their current state in Seeing is Believing, where Silcoon and Cascoon evolved into May's Beautifly and Dustox, respectively.

It peers out of the silk cocoon through a small hole. Sapphire Silcoon was thought to endure hunger and not consume anything before its evolution. However, it is now thought that this Pokémon slakes its thirst by drinking rainwater that collects on its silk. Emerald It prepares for evolution using the energy it stored while it was a Wurmple. It keeps watch over the surroundings with its two eyes. FireRed It conserves its energy by moving as little as possible. It awaits evolution while drinking only a little rainwater. Trivia

• Silcoon shares the same species name with Metapod, Kakuna, and Cascoon. They are all known as Cocoon Pokémon.
• In Pokémon Platinum, Silcoon can learn Bug Bite by evolution from Wurmple, despite not having a visible mouth.
• In the anime, Silcoon and its counterpart, Cascoon, were shown without the spike-like protrusions coming out of their body
• Although it has been established that Silcoon has two eyes, none of its sprites show both eyes.
