Weezing (Japanese: マタドガス Matadogas) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.
It evolves from Koffing starting at level 35.
Biology
Physiology
Weezing mostly look like two Koffing stuck together, with one bigger than the other. The smaller head only has a circle on it, instead of the skull-and-crossbones. It also has a third chamber and two appendages connecting the three segments. The larger head has prominent eyebrows, pointed teeth protruding from its lower jaw, and flatter teeth on its upper jaw.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Each head had a different toxin in it. When one of the heads is inflated, the other deflates, mixing the gases. By doing this multiple times, it becomes more toxic and noxious. Unusually enough, high-grade perfumes could be made from Weezing. It's also prone to exploding.
Behavior
Weezing will find a dirty, unkept house and make it its home. At night, when the people in the house are asleep, it will go through the trash.
Habitat
Weezing live in urban and suburban areas. Active volcanoes are also a good place to find them. Their native range includes Kanto, Johto and Sinnoh.
Diet
- Main article: Pokémon food
Weezing feed on the gases, dust, and microorganisms emitted by garbage and toxic waste.
In the anime
Major Appearances
James's Koffing evolved into Weezing during Dig Those Diglett. In A Poached Ego, it left them with Jessie's Arbok to protect a group of Koffing and Ekans that were freed from the captivity of a Pokémon poacher.
Other
Minor Appearances
Ash used a Weezing in a Pokémon League entrance exam in The Ultimate Test. It defeated the instructor's Flareon, and eventually exploded.
In the manga
Pokémon Adventures
Both Koga and his daughter, Janine, have Weezing as a part of their arsenals.
In the TCG
- Main article: Weezing (TCG)
In the TFG
One Weezing figure has been released.
Other appearances
When released from a Poké Ball, Weezing will emit Poison Gas that juggles any opponent who comes near it.
Weezing is also a float in the Poké Float stage. It appears as Chikorita leaves. Once Slowpoke appears, it will slowly deflate and move to the top of the screen.
Trophy information
The evolved form of Koffing, Weezing is basically a pair of Koffing fused together. They tend to float in the air and emit gas or noxious smoke from the outgrowths that cover their bodies. As strange as it may seem, diluting Weezing emissions as much as possible creates one of the most exquisite perfumes known to man.

Trivia
- In the English version of the game, Weezing was originally going to have the name La, the abbreviation of Los Angeles, possibly representing its polluted air.
- This would have made it the Pokémon with the shortest English name. As of Generation IV, that honour is held by Muk and Mew, both of which were also introduced in Generation I.
- Weezing and Koffing are the the only pure Template:Type2 Pokémon immune to Template:Type2 attacks, due to their in-game ability, Levitate.
- Though Koffing is always depicted smiling, Weezing is always depicted frowning.
- Only two Weezing have ever been shown in the anime - James's and the one belonging to the Pokémon League entrance exam instructor. Of the two, James's Weezing is the only one to be seen in more than one episode.
- Weezing has the highest Defense out of all Poison-type Pokémon.
- In certain instances in the games, such as Pokémon Contests, a Pokémon's sprite will be flipped, unless its body is asymmetrical. For some reason, Weezing's sprite will get flipped in all instances despite its asymmetrical body.
Origin
Considering its looks, its ability to float, and its tendency to explode, it may have been based upon a floating naval mine.
Name origin
Weezing's name is a corruption of the word wheezing. Its Japanese name may come from 又 mata, again, and 獰 dō, meaning bad, or 毒 doku, meaning poisonous, and gas. Essentially, it is a doubling of Koffing's Japanese name, and thus a doubling of Koffing – which is exactly what Weezing is.
In other languages
- German: Smogmog - Doubling of Koffing's German name.
- French: Smogogo - Doubling of Koffing's French name.
- Korean: 또도사스 Ttodogaseu
- Chinese (Taiwan): 雙彈瓦斯 Shuāng Dàn Wǎ Sī - "Double gas bomb", 瓦斯 Wǎ Sī means gas.
