Trivia
Origin
Hippowdon is based on a hippopotamus.
Name origin
Hippowdon's name is derived from hippopotamus, either power, powder (as in sand), or possibly the onomatopoeia "Pow!", and the suffix -don which can be taken to mean "tooth" or "lord".
Kabarudon's name is derived from the Japanese word 河馬 kaba, hippopotamus, which it is based on, and the aforementioned -don.
