Trivia

  • Pelipper, along with Poliwhirl, is available underleveled in the Sightseeing Pokéwalker route.

Origin

This Pokémon resembles a pelican.

Name origin

Pelipper's name is probably derived from pelican and skipper, a rank of sailor, or possibly "flipper" referring to its wings. It may also be a combination of "pelican" and "propeller", such as those used by submarines, due to its aquatic nature.

In other languages

  • German: Pelipper
  • French: Bekipan - From bec qui pend (beak that hangs). It also sounds like pélican (pelican).
  • Korean: 패리퍼 Pelipper
  • Chinese (Taiwan): 大嘴鷗 Dà Zuǐ Ōu - Literally "Big-mouthed gull".
