Trivia
- Shibibiru and its evolutionary relatives are the only Pokémon to have no weaknesses that are not Ghost/Dark-type. However, this is due to their ability, Levitate, which eliminates their sole weakness to the Ground type.
- Also, they are the only Pokémon to have no weaknesses that have evolutionary relatives.
- Shibibiru is the only Pokémon that evolves when exposed to a Thunderstone that was not introduced in Generation I.
- Shibibiru's speed stat drops by 20 when it evolves from Shibishirasu.
Origin
Shibishirasu and its evolutionary relatives may be based on electric eels, lampreys, jawless fish and possibly leeches. Their electric type may be an allusion to bioluminescence. Oddly enough, however, none of them are able to learn any Water-type moves, with the sole exception of Rain Dance.
Name origin
Its name is likely a combination of 痺れ shibire, numbness, ビリビリ biribiri, onomatopoeic word for an electric shock sound and イール īru, eel.
