Whismur (Japanese: ゴニョニョ Gonyonyo) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves into Loudred starting at level 20, who evolves into Exploud starting at level 40.

Biology

Physiology

It has a spherical, mauve-colored body with two stubby arms. Its ears are long and rabbit-like with yellow tips, and it has a small, plug-like tail with a yellow crescent marking above it at its back. Whismur appears to have three holes, one beneath each of its ears and one on its tail.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Due to breathing through its ear canals, it has no need to breathe and thus can cry continually. For this reason, it stops screaming if its ear covers are shut.

Behavior

Normally Whismur make murmurs that are only barely audible, but Whismur are scared very easily, and often use their shrill cries to try and scare off other wild Pokémon. And once it screams, its cries scare it into crying harder, eventually exhausting itself to sleep.

Habitat

Whismur like tall grass, but prefer caves like the Desert Underpass and the Rusturf Tunnel.

Guy's Whismur from his flashback

A Whismur owned by Alanna first appeared in A Pokéblock Party!. When Jigglypuff showed up to Sing for everyone, Whismur was the only one who stayed awake, due to its ability.

Guy had a flashback in Exploud and Clear! where he was shown to own a Whismur.

Team Rocket captured a trio of Whismur to perform for Giovanni in Gotta Dance!!.

A Whismur appeared in The Ribbon Cup Caper at the ship’s Pokémon Center.

Another one appeared in Leading a Stray!.

A Whismur also appeared in To Thine Own Pokémon Be True!.

Ruby Normally, Whismur's voice is very quiet - it is barely audible even if one is paying close attention. However, if this Pokémon senses danger, it starts crying at an earsplitting volume.
Sapphire Whismur is very timid. If it starts to cry loudly, it becomes startled by its own crying and cries even harder. When it finally stops crying, the Pokémon goes to sleep, all tired out.
Emerald Its cries equal a jet plane in volume. It inhales through its ear canals. Because of this system, it can cry continually without having to catch its breath.
FireRed It usually murmurs, but starts crying loudly if it senses danger. It stops when its ear covers are shut.
