I feel that being listed as a variation of the move [[Signal_Beam_(move)|Signal Beam]] is misleading. The two moves apply different status effects, have different amounts of PP, are alternately affected/not-affected by King's Rock, and it's not exactly a small detail that it can cause a transformation in the one Pokémon that can (currently) learn it. I believe the template should be removed. What do other people think?

The wording in the trivia is a bit misleading. I suggest using this variation as an alternative:

Ancient Song is currently the only move with 100% accuracy that deals damage and has a chance to put the target to sleep. Secret Power can also do this; however, this is only when used in very long grass. --Locrian 11:21, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

I think the 100% is referring to the fact that no matter when it's used, it does damage and has a chance to inflict sleep (as opposed to Secret Power, which only does so in long grass). Nonetheless, I do agree that the wording is misleading. Perhaps this: Ancient Song is the only move that inflicts damage and has a chance to cause sleep, regardless of the battle conditions. Still iffy (as this would suggest it could cause sleep even if effects like Uproar were in play), but it's a step in the right direction. --AndyPKMN 11:57, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
I think I fixed it. --SnorlaxMonster 12:04, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
"but only when used in very long grass or tall grass." What's the difference between "very long" and "tall"?--Si6x12 02:44, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Tall grass is the regular stuff. Very long grass is the stuff you can't bike in. This article should clear things up. —darklordtrom 02:46, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Relearning/Step Forme

If Ancient Song is forgotten by Meloetta, will it be able to relearn it? If so, will a Step Forme Meloetta brought to the Tutor be able to learn it?--MisterE13 02:15, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Variation of Signal Beam

I feel that being listed as a variation of the move Signal Beam is misleading. The two moves apply different status effects, have different amounts of PP, are alternately affected/not-affected by King's Rock, and it's not exactly a small detail that it can cause a transformation in the one Pokémon that can (currently) learn it. I believe the template should be removed. What do other people think? Norle 15:52, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
