Rhyhorn (Japanese: サイホーン Sihorn) is a dual-type Ground/Rock Pokémon.
It evolves into Rhydon starting at level 42, who evolves into Rhyperior when traded holding a Protector.
Biology
Physiology
Rhyhorn is a small rhinoceros-like creature with a body of gray, rocky plates, a ridge on its back, and visible fangs protruding from its upper jaw. Rhyhorn has four short legs with two claws and a triangle-shaped head with a single, short horn. Rhyhorn has small triangular openings on the sides of its head, which can be presumed to be ears.
Gender differences
A female has a shorter horn.
Special abilities
Rhyhorn's most well known method of attack is to charge straight into things. A charging Rhyhorn can knock a trailer flying. Rhyhorn can also use various Rock and Ground attacks. Rhyhorn can learn elemental attacks, but these types of attacks aren't very strong when used by Rhyhorn (save for the elemental fangs). Rhyhorn is one of the few Pokémon capable of learning Megahorn.
Behavior
One can say that Rhyhorn has rocks for brains because it can only remember one thing at a time. A perfect example of this is whenever a Rhyhorn starts charging, it'll forget why it did so in the first place.
Habitat
Rhyhorn live in open plains and mountain ranges. They are often found in Kanto & the Battle Zone and occasionally in Sinnoh. They have also been imported to the Hoenn Safari Zone.

Pokémon Adventures
Rhyhorn debuts in the Red, Green & Blue arc in Raging Rhydon as Koga's Pokémon. After getting defeated by Red's Pikachu, Pika, it's forced to evolve with a mysterious injection, and knocks out Misty with its increased power.
In Volume 3, another Rhyhorn is seen in possession of Giovanni, and is one of his main fighters, who knocked out Red's Aerodactyl with a simple Tail Whip. He also later uses it in the battle with Lance to generate a sandstorm by crushing rocks.

Trivia
- Despite its species being the "Spikes Pokémon," and it being part Template:Type2, Rhyhorn cannot learn the move Spikes.
- Since they are included in the Sinnoh Pokédex in Platinum, Rhyhorn and Rhydon have appeared in every Japan-centric Regional Pokédex.
- Rhyhorn's Generation IV Pokédex entries state that its tackles can topple buildings. However, Rhyhorn cannot learn Tackle via any means.
- In the games, Rhyhorn has the exact same cry as Charizard.
- Rhyhorn and its evolutionary relatives are the only Rock/Ground Pokémon to have Rock as their secondary type instead of their primary.
Origin
Its design appears to be inspired by an Indian rhinoceros, with similar plated armor, with elements of a triceratops.
Name origin
Rhyhorn's name may be a combination of rhinoceros and horn. It may also be based on a mineral called rhyolite, which explains its types. Its Japanese name is a combination of 犀 sai (rhinoceros) and horn.
