Zweilous's name is possibly derived from "zwei," meaning two in German, and "jealous," as the heads are always fighting each other for food. Jiheddo's name is probably derived from 二 ''ji'', meaning two, and ''head'', literally reading as ''"two heads"''. "Ji" is also how the greek prefix "di" (two) is pronounced in Japanese, in words such as "dioxane" (''jiokisan'').

Zweilous (Japanese: ジヘッド Jiheddo) is a dual-type Dark/Dragon Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Deino starting at level 50, and then into Hydreigon starting at level 64.

Biology

Physiology

Zweilous is a quadruped Pokémon that has muscular legs and two claws on each foot. Zweilous's fur is a gray-black while the body is a dark blue. There are tufts of fur over two heads with rounded points at the top, and Zweilous appears to have no eyes. There are two wings on the black section of its body that resembles the claws of Giratina's Origin Forme. The fur stops at the chests and opens up to pink striped bands on the side of Zweilous's legs.

Gender differences

Special abilities

Behavior

Zweilous's heads dislike each other. As a result the heads often turn eating into a competition.

Habitat

Zweilous live in cities, and will move to a different one once it has eaten all the prey in its territory.

Diet

Main article: Pokémon food

Zweilous are carnivorous, and always eat far too much, as the heads constantly turn eating into a competition.

Trivia

  • Zweilous is the last Pokémon in alphabetical order.
  • Of all the Pokémon that evolve by level alone, Zweilous evolves to its final form, Hydreigon, later than any other Pokémon, evolving at level 64.
  • Zweilous's evolutionary family, along with Shelgon's, are the only Pokémon exclusively in the Dragon Egg Group.
  • No other Pokémon has the same type combination as Zweilous and its evolutionary relatives.
  • While its Sugimori art depicts it having two tufts of fur on each of its necks, no other depiction displays this.

Origin

Zweilous is possibly based on Zmeys, a Slavic, winged, polycephal species of dragon. Its Shiny coloration may be a reference to the green colored Zmey Gorynych.

Name origin

Zweilous's name is possibly derived from zwei, meaning two in German, and jealous, as the heads are always fighting each other for food.

Jiheddo's name is probably derived from 二 ji, meaning two, and head, literally reading as "two heads". "Ji" is also how the greek prefix "di" (two) is pronounced in Japanese, in words such as "dioxane" (jiokisan).
