Type effectiveness
Due to its ability, Shedinja is only affected by the types it is weak to - Dark, Fire, Flying, Ghost and Rock. Due to its HP, any hit from such a move will knock it out. This means that for Shedinja, the five types mentioned above are one-hit KO's, and the others don't affect it.
Shedinja can also be damaged by Struggle and any of the Shadow moves from Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD.
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, the standard B-button tackle will do one HP damage and Shedinja always has a maximum of 5 HP.

Trivia
- Shedinja is the only Pokémon whose HP (or any stats') IV cannot be determined, due to it always having the same amount of HP. To figure out a Shedinja's HP IV, one must find out the HP IV of the Nincada or Ninjask it came from.
- Despite rumors of Shedinja's presence requiring a Pokeball, it does not need one. In fact, it creates one, similar to Eggs.
Origin
It is based on the shed husk that cicadas leave behind when they finish their metamorphosis into adults.
Name origin
Shedinja's name is a combination of shed, casting off of skin or exoskeleton, and ninja. Its Japanese name is a combination of 抜け殻 nukegara, casting off skin, and 忍者 ninja. Nukenin is also a term describing ninja who have abandoned their clan and lord. The German name is probably a combination of ninja and tomb.
