Trivia

Bidoof is a frequent topic of ridicule of Pokémon forums because his appearence, the frequency of encountering him in-game, and the fact that his name is derrived from the word doofus. Players joke about using a team of all Bidoof or claim that he is the most powerful Pokémon in existance.

Origin

Bidoof appears to be based on a beaver, guineapig or hamster.

Name origin

Its name is derived from "beaver" and "doofus". Bidoof's Japanese name is derived from the English word beaver. In Japanese, ビーバー is the same word, but it is pronounced more closely to Bipper's name than the English pronunciation.
