Revision as of 03:18, 15 February 2013
Added Spacial Rend and Roar of Time to the learnset to refer to the 10th Movie Giveaway in Japan. -Chosen 7/17/07
Got rid of the note that players should not save in the Mystery Zone. You can not save in the Mystery Zone because the menu doesn't work in the Mystery Zone. -Vereux0 8/3/07
Added a note on how Darkrai seems to want to meet the player. Felt it worth mentioning, as it does say somehting about Darkrai's intelligence.-Featherflame 8/9/07
I added that the Lunar Wing is said in D/P to be the only thing that can wake people up from Darkrai's nightmares. Something vaguely similar to this is stated in the Lunar Wing article, so it's up to your judgment whether to leave it or not. LordArceus 16:57, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Ooooo...SaTaN
Okay, I'm close to coming down hard on whoever put that thing about Satan in there. If somebody thinks Darkrai is a Satanic Pokémon, they can keep it to themselves. It's fan-made CRAP and it has no place on Bulbapedia. That is the only evidence to support it is probably coincidental. Going by this thinking, any Pokémon that can learn Pursuit is "Satanic," and Politoed can learn Pursuit! Jeez, people! Keep it on the forum! -Politoed666 00:35, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I can understand people mistaking Giratina as a "Devil" becuase of the "666" crap, but Darkrai? That's taking it too far. Diachronos 17:57, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- Actually 666 is the human number of imperfection, but I don't see where it relates to Darkrai or Giratina. hfc2X 21:42, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Have you never heard of the Number of the Beast?...And was there ever a "human number of imperfection"?--Loveはドコ? (talk • contribs) 22:02, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

- Please, don't argue with me on this. I realize that you don't read the bible... The number 666 is the human number of imperfection (Revelation 13:16-18) and the number of the beast, as 7 is the perfect number of The Lord a triple 6 is imperfection of the human and the beast. Anyways, I don't see the point of talking this here in bulbapedia... my question was "what does it have to do with Giratina and/or Darkrai?" hfc2X 17:58, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- Here we go.Darkrai is not based off Satan, nor is Girantia. This is a STUPID topic.Darkrai and Girantia are Benevolent. thank you, topic CLOSED--DCM((Nag at Me!Edits))
- There needs to be an dark force, since pokemon are the ones doing all of the fighting. And not all pokemon are rich with kindness People have their own opinions, whether this site respects them or not. And there's no need to get rude and nasty about it! --Kid Sonic 19:35, 8 February 2010 (UTC) (Remember this name!)

ano...
I put in the fact that Drakai can't be traded on the GTS. :) -IshiiSachiko
- No offense, but I removed it. Not every Darkrai will have a Classic Ribbon, just like how not every Darkrai will have a normal ribbon like a Cool Contest Ribbon. The Classic Ribbon isn't a part of Darkrai, and it's possible for it not to have it (for example, the Darkrai on Newmoon Island has no Classic Ribbon).--Loveはドコ? (talk • contribs) 02:48, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
That information is on the Ribbon article anyway. (About Pokémon with that ribbon not being able to be traded) TESHTALK 12:57, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Sprite
on the back sprite, darkrai has a large number of dots on its back, but the shiny sprite doesn't. which one is wrong? OrigamiGuy-Talk-Contribs-Mudkipz 10:36, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- It shouldn't have dots. I fixed it already. tc26 04:08, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
RobbieNewton's Edit
I edited the trivia to reflect what the UK Darkrai Event was.
something...
Isn't there a TCG card for the event Darkrai? I saw one at Wal-Mart. It was holding Enigma Berry, and it knew Dialga and Palkia's moves.Kkllnn 14:32, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well, yeah. If you would look at Darkrai (TCG) it would show you everytime Darkrai appeared in the TCG. The card you are talking about is Darkrai. MoldyOrange 14:38, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Would somebody PLEASE neaten up that trivia section? It's a mile long. -- Umbee 15:47, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Scarecrow
You notice how Darkrai is kind of like the Batman villian scarecrow?Shadow1337 00:05, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Kkllnn: No. LordArceus 16:52, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I put that there before Platinum so I thought Darkrai liked giving people nightmares.Shadow1337 20:55, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
To Kill a Mockingbird
He kind of reminds me of the character Boo Radley from To Kill a Mockingbird in that he's made into some kind of monster by others but is actually hamrless and even saves people on occasions. Anyone agree?Shadow1337 19:50, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Theres a resmblance, but its not like that character base(not the character himself, but what he acts like) is not rare--DCM((Nag at Me!Edits))
- Good point.Shadow1337 20:31, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
Pronounciation
If you don't know spanish, then you'll not get what I want to say. In Japanese, the name is read (written in spanish pronounciation) Daakuráy, so the name will be correctly pronounced "Dark-rráy". But the english pronounciation is "Dárk-rrey", which is not correct. I don't know how to write down a well pronounced "Darkrai" in english. hfc2X 14:50, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
- Dark rye?--Loveはドコ? (talk • contribs) 17:11, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
- LOL that's funny xD but that's the correct pronounciation. Well, I also didn't know that pron was a bad word =S hfc2X 19:14, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
- Dark Rye Bred. It makes sense. Pron=Porn--DCM((Shut the **** upSpy on My Edits))
- The pronunciation I've heard in Youtube is "Dark-ray". But in the teaser of the movie, it's "Dark-rye". Hmm... SO "Dark-rye" is correct?Palkia38 08:10, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

GTS
Last night I saw that Darkrai are now allowed on the GTS except for Shaymin and Arceus.--☆Coolピカチュウ! 23:08, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thats true. AS far as I know, English games are not allowed to trade for DArkrai on GTSDCM((Shut the **** upSpy on My Edits))
- They've been always tradeable. The only ones that cannot be traded are the ones that you get at an event, because they have the Classic Ribbon. hfc2X 14:38, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I've searched for Darkrai in the GTS, and atleast four people offered Darkrai! Well, they can be hacked, or they caught it in Newmoon Island.Palkia38 10:03, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- Do do od. I havent checked it in a while, but the legitimate ones arent on GTS, they cant beDCM((曲奇饼妖怪Spy on My Edits))

Message after encounter
I just captured Darkrai in my Platinum and this text appeared after the encounter:
...A voice called out from somewhere...
???: DARKRAI... Your power is strong. Though you don't will it, you make people and Pokémon around see terrible nightmares... That is why you came here...
Newmoon Island... There is no one but you here... There is none that can be drawn into your nightmare... If anyone were to fall into a nightmare, the Fullmoon Island is close by...
... ...
So if anyone thinks its important enough, feel free to add it either here or in the Newmoon Island article.. Although I'm not sure if this has already been added.--AOS 05:31, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Wi-Fi Event
Someone should add the Wi-fi event to the article--Masta Pokemongirl 14:27, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Moveset...?
Is anyone going to add movesets for wild legendary Pokémon? I chose Darkrai's page because I'm currently fighting Darkrai and don't know how long it is until he uses Struggle. - unsigned comment from Giratina's Embodiment (talk • contribs) 16:51, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- Wild Pokémon know the four highest moves in their moveset at the time of encounter. We don't need to add anything new, because we're going with the theory that our readers can count to four. —darklordtrom 20:25, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Legs?
Does Darkrai have legs? In the artwork and the games he doesn't seem to, yet in some merchandise i have of him (from keychains and such) he has clear little... poiny leg things. Are these in any of the games, or is this some sort of fake toy? CherryParanoia 20:51, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- Its "legs" are shown in Movie 10. --ケンジのガール 20:52, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Darkrai's Type
The fact that Darkrai is a Dark-type makes perfect sense, but it has always surprised me that he isn't also a Ghost-type, given his rather ghost-like appearance and properties. Why do you think it wasn't made to be a ghost-type?--Webspidrman 22:43, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- Bring this to the forums please. — AxxonntheAwesometrainer 22:58, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
- By the way, Dark/Ghost has no weaknesses, and Darkrai is still uber even with only one type. If it was Dark/Ghost, it would be banned from Ubers as well. Bwburke94 16:16, 3 September 2010 (UTC)
Pictures?
Are there any pictures of Darkrai's "feet"? That needs to be in the article. Not neccesarily as the infobox picture, but somewhere in the article. Flyingtypefan 05:30, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
- It wouldn't be too hard to get; I'm sure somebody probably has the DVD. If not, it should be on YouTube. MrConcreteDonkey 06:38, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
DP189
Was it confirmed that Ash was fighting Takuto? In that case the Paul vs. Ash fight was spoiled :O --Burgundy 07:21, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
No it wasn't it just said that darkrai will appear I deleted the part about ash battling it in dp189.RBK 21:11, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- Now it is confirmed, so it should be put back on. MrConcreteDonkey (talk • contribs)
Add something to the Manga section
Pokemon Adventures. Sird. She has a Darkrai, which, upon its clash with Mewtwo, petrified the Kanto Dex Holders and Silver. Should this be noted?... Pikachu127 22:20, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
Mystery Gift
Hey, I was playing either Pearl or Platinum a long time age at McDonald's and checked Mystery Gift and got a Darkrai with Nickname "?????". The Original Trainer is also "?????", and is colored red. ID number is 07147. It's in a Cherish Ball and knows Roar of Time and Spacial Rend, and a couple of HM moves I taught it. Anyone know where this Darkrai came from?
Mystery Gift indeed.
(I'm in Canada, BTW.)

Pics?
Hey guys, umm as you can tell I'm kind of a new user on here and I was wondering if anybody here will be kind enough to add the picture of Darkrai's retracted head and white "plume" when it's defending itself? Here's a picture of it that I have recently posted on my 5 years-old photobucket account ---> Darkrai's plume --HT Sasha (talk) 04:13, 24 September 2012 (UTC) HTSasha123
- All images on Bulbapedia are uploaded and managed over on the Bulbagarden Archives. Once you upload the file over there, you will be able to insert the image on the articles here. Make sure you upload your images in .png format, as that is the type of files used for anime images. Hope this helps you out. --Pokemaster97 21:25, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

DarkRai Name Origin and Character Design
"rai" pronounced rye is hindi for king. From wikipedia : "Rai is a historical title of honour in India[...]It is derived from Raja (king, prince or chief)." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rai_(Indian)
Hence, this plays into the character background and design. First, the character has a design of a Medieval Count. Second, the character has a mystical, other worldly, spiritual yet fantastical quality to it that can be seen in Indian stories. Also, to an above post, the "Rey" in spanish might have the same etymological roots as "Rai".ZoroFan (talk) 03:07, 15 February 2013
Also, Darkrai might be based on the Cthulhian stories of other-dimensional beings that would cause onlookers to spiral into deep madness. Given that the generation Darkrai was released in dealt with other dimensional Pokemon, just like itself, it seems likely that the Darkrai aspect of causing debilitating nightmares was likely a shout-out to the Lovecraftian legacy.ZoroFan (talk) 03:18, 15 February 2013 (UTC)
