Froslass (Japanese: ユキメノコ Yukimenoko) is a dual-type Ice/Ghost Pokémon.
She evolves from a female Snorunt when exposed to a Dawn Stone. She is one of Snorunt's final forms, the other being Glalie.
Biology
Physiology
Froslass doesn't have any feet, so she floats in the air like her counterpart, Glalie. What appears to be her torso is hollow, as is stated in the Pokédex's entry for Froslass, which is the reason for her surprisingly low weight. This "body" resembles a kimono, especially due to the fact that the red band around her waist is reminiscent of an Obi. Her arms, which hang off the sides of her head like ears, are flared at the wrist to further give it a kimono look. The flared portions of her arms have a dappled light blue coloration, and Froslass's hands consist of three small fingers. Froslass's head is shaped like a droplet of water turned on its side. The head has two ice crystals on top of it, as well as several holes through which a purple skin can be seen. From two of them, crystal-blue eyes with yellow scleras peek out. A small mouth can be found below her white "mask".
Gender differences
Froslass is a female-only species. Some consider Glalie to be the male counterpart although it can be either gender.
Special abilities
Froslass has the ability to freeze foes with her -58 degrees Fahrenheit (-50 degrees Celsius) breath and create illusions to manipulate both her prey and foes as evidenced in the anime.
Behavior
Froslass' behavior is somewhat reminiscent to that of the Yuki-onna in Japanese mythology, since it will wander around snowstorms or blizzards to find unsuspecting humans and prey and will attack by freezing them into solid ice. They are said to secretly put the frozen corpses of their victims on display. Froslass are also very caring and will protect those who she loves and trusts, especially their young.
Habitat
Froslass live in very snowy areas. They are very rare.

In the Pokémon Adventures manga
A Froslass first appeared under the ownership of Candice in VS. Froslass, where it is presented as her secret weapon to battle Platinum. Due to her Rapidash and its speed, its attacks rarely hit, and didn't dish out much damage due to the type matchup, but the moment Platinum ordered it to use Rest, its Wake-Up Slap dealt out lethal damage, forcing her to recall it. Then, after Platinum's Lopunny managed to defeat Candice's Abomasnow, and Froslass seemed to have the battle won when Lopunny fainted as well, it was finally beaten by Rapidash. Platinum, revealing that she had Lopunny faint itself with its Healing Wish, Candice handed her the Icicle Badge, and the three head out to Lake Acuity. This Froslass is later given to Platinum at the Spear Pillar.

Trivia
- No other Pokémon has the same type combination as Froslass.
- She and Frost Rotom are the only Ice-type Pokémon not to have more weaknesses than combined resistances and immunities.
- She is the only Ice-type Pokémon that is immune to Fighting-type moves, which they are normally weak to, due to her being part Ghost-type.
- Froslass and Shedinja are the only two Ghost types that evolve from a Pokémon that isn't a Ghost type.
- Although Froslass floats in the air, she does not have the Ability to Levitate.
- Froslass is the last Pokémon in the National Pokédex that evolves from another Pokémon from a prior generation.
- Froslass is tied with Gengar for the fastest Ghost-type.
- Froslass and her evolutionary line's Egg Group (Fairy and Mineral) are unique.
- Froslass has a lot of similarities with Jynx: both learn Wake-Up Slap at level 28, both are female-only, both are dual Ice-types with Ice as their primary type which have unique combinations, which their secondary-type are the only of their type to learn Wake-Up Slap, both are fully-evolved, both can learn nearly the same Ice-type moves by their level or TM, having nearly the same TMs, and both have different moves from their pre-evolutions, with the pre-evolutions being from different generations as they are.
- She may be a partial counterpart to Gallade. Both of their first forms can evolve by level, regardless of gender, or gender-specific evolution with a Dawn Stone, the only Pokémon that evolve with it.
- Due to the censor that prevents Pokémon with offensive nicknames being traded on the GTS, an English language Froslass cannot be traded on the GTS without a nickname in Pokémon Black and White.
Origin
Froslass is most likely based on Yuki-onna, a female ice-spirit of Japanese folklore.
Name origin
Froslass is a combination of frost and lass.
Yukimenoko may be a combination of 雪 yuki (snow) and 女の子 menoko (archaic word for girl). Kimeno also sounds like a corruption of 着物 kimono.
