Hmmm....
Is the color and box from the Tutoring Moveset (I think) supposed to be expanding past the sprite box? I see the Rock type stuff, if that matters. (No, I don't think it is my browser, other Pokémon's pages are still fine) The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 14:13, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

- How on Earth did whoever drew that picture get it so perfect when the sprite is so tiny? They must have got something wrong surely? Taromon777 19:36, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, the artist, Seyanni, did get several details wrong from what we now know about the features of Arceus. First of all, the face has two lines running across it, not just one. There are grey triangles on the inside of each of its legs, and the red parts of its eyes have black slits, like Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. In addition, the wheel is more pointed and the green circles he/she drew are actually gems. So, really, like I've said before, this fanart is far from accurate, but now there's really no need to replace it (though I've given the site several months to use my own artwork (http://xous54.deviantart.com/art/Arceus-Final-106548360), which is, of course, more accurate) when Arceus is set to be revealed on the 15th (with a leak anywhere from the 12th to the 14th). (Of course, the Pokémon set to be revealed could also be something else.) Xous 18:16, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Looking at Darkrai and Shaymin's, it seems that the reveal will be just around February 14, 2009. Isn't that convenient. So I'd like to notify you all... don't bother with it until then. TTEchidna 06:52, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

???-type Explanation Doesn't Make Sense
One of our members brought up a good point about the explanation (in this article) about why Nintendo put the ??? Arceus in the game. We think that it was put in because Nintendo's code for Multitype required a sprite to be filled for every single type. This is our best guess, and I certainly think it's more plausible than "preventing game crashes for hackers." Hackers can crash the game quite easily otherwise - why would they prevent it in one way when we can do it in a thousand other ways? Remember, Nintendo doesn't care for or even acknowledge hackers. -Coolbho3000 00:33, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- Following that logic, why put a vestigial Safari Zone in GSC? Why make it harder to access MissingNo in Yellow and impossible in FrLg? Like it or not, Nintendo has put many things in for the purpose of preventing crashes. Kiryu 04:59, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
- The Safari Zone in G/S/C was there because it was originally supposed to be in there, but they decided later not to include it. And Missingno. was excluded from later games because it was a glitch that was accessible without cheats. They took it out for the same reason that they hire game testers: they want their games to be as glitch-free as possible. And it did cause crashes, but it could be accessed without cheats, unlike the ???-type Arceus. I agree with Coolbho.--Celebi96 13:51, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

???-type arceus existance

origin
there is a legend in arab myths that says that god created a horse from the north wind and it was the frist being on earth, arceus is a horse and the first Pokémon in existance, should we add this to the origin part in the article?--Nobody777 13:29, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- That seems more like an origin for Suicune, because of the north wind bit... Though Suicune isn't a horse. I don't know, it might be a legitimate origin.--Celebi96 14:15, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Arceus reminds me of the andalites from the animorphs books except it only has two eyes and no arms or tail. However in the movie it can speak with telepathy. Did any one else notice the similarities or am I just insane?--Mtn otter 17:41, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
...
I saw this likely vandalism in the tivia section:
At level 80, Arceus is the second highest level non-glitch Pokémon available for capture. The highest is Magikarp which can be caught at level 100 in Pokémon Platinum. It is, however, still the highest level legendary Pokémon available for capture.
I am hoping this is a joke or vandalism.
- Check Magikarp's article. It's a legit piece of trivia. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 07:04, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Type-change grammar
Due to the special coding for Multitype, if the page changes to Electric or Ice, the grammar in the article becomes incorrect, displaying as "a Electric-type" or "a Ice-type". Since I have no idea how the coding works, and the fact that the page is protected anyway, would it be possible for someone to fix that bit of grammar on the Zap and Icicle versions of the page?

Should we insert the Movie Arceus event?
I mean, Corocoro had already revealed that there is going to be an event in HGSS unlocked by Movie Arceus where the player can choose a Level 1 Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. I think it should be worth noting that they should mention this in this article. Weedle Mchairybug 13:19, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Name origin
Hey guys, an idea had just sprouted in my head. The name might also come from the latin verb arceo, which roughly translates to "I watch from a distance". /Ziemniax
- Actually, that word means "enclose". But it could still be a name origin, since Arceus was enclosed in the Hall of Origin.--Celebi96 14:19, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Both of you are right. if it has a long e then it means "I watch from a distane" but a short e means "enclose"--Mtn otter 17:29, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Arceus catch Trivia
As a point in the trivia I think it should be mentioned that Arceus is the only trio master (as of yet and i suspect always will be) not catchable by typical in-game mechanics instead needing to obtain an item solely distributed by a Nintendo event. All others are obtainable in their original generations via typical methods (i.e. just a simple in-game event or simply trading from a complimentary version) rather than and individual physically having to go to a Nintendo event to receive an item that cannot be obtained in games. I'm sorry if this point seems to sound redundant but I'm not sure if everyone will understand what I mean. -- D558 06:21, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Magic Plate?
I own a Diamond and Pearl guide that tells you what to do after you beat the game, and it has a section in there about the Underground. In it, it has a list of items you can find, and in that list, they have a Magic Plate. I don't know what's going on, because nobody's mentioned it before. - Well, there are two things I can think of.
- One of them is creating a new Pokéathlon Template, that would contain all of the Plates (specially for Arceus) with would require only to use the template with stats from all of them (although I'm not sure if there is a limit to how much data you can hand over to a template)
- The second one is to change all link-Templates (those that just generate links to other articles) to normal links to articles

13,933?
Excuse me if I'm wrong, but the formula (as stated here) makes a captured Arceus give (even if the owner's Pokémon is foreign and traded) only 7,071(.428571) at level 100.
a= 2.2
b= 225
L=100.
2.2 × 225 = 495
495 × 100 = 49,500
49,500 / 7 = 7,071.428571.
Either this page is wrong, the formula is, or I am. Thanks Samjohn95 16:46, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Explorers of Sky
I have tried, but I can't get rid of the part on the Sidegame template that includes Explorers of Sky. It wasn't in the Game, so does anyone know how to get rid of this? It's a little misleading. Thanks, Samjohn95 23:03, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Name origin
About the name origin. For me, the most simple theory is not so clearly mentioned in the current name origin section. My theory is: Arceus is just a transcription of "archeos" from latin (meaning archaich). This was confirmed with the newest trailers that pronounce "Arceus" exactly like "archeos" is pronounced. It is the most direct and simple someone can think of, it's more or less the same process used for other Pokémon name such as Luvdisc, since "luv" has the same pronountiation as "love".
izanagi and izanami
If Japan and Gods is created, it seems to be worth describing to trivia. Sawamular101 12:37, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
My remark on the page of the edit became interrupted. Arceus lives in the interior of Spear Pillar. There are a spear and a point of contact of the creation of the Shintoism myth. Sawamular101 07:27, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- But would that not mean that Arceus would have to be two, and not one? I think Dialga and Palkia, both met at Spear Pillar itself, better represent the two, with Giratina representing what happened to Izanami after Kagu-tsuchi burned her. Arceus created the universe... Dialga and Palkia were the ones who created Spear Pillar, and from it, Sinnoh. Arceus is above them. TTEchidna 07:49, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for correcting my English.
- It is said that it is izanami and izanagi that it gave birth to the gods for the first time by the myth of Shintoism. Kunitokotachi and Amenominakanushi doesn't make the gods though Kunitokotachi and Amenominakanushi is the first god. There are izanami(izanagi) and a lacking part because neither Dialga nor Palkia make "Legend pokeomn". It is guessed that the ability of izanagi and izanami that creates the gods is equipped in Arceus.
- I am satisfied with the sentence that Mr. TTEchidna corrected. It is not necessary to discuss it any further.

Colour Changing Articles
I know but it seems kind of pointless, when I fist read the article I thought you'd made a mistake calling it a Dragon-type and when I scrolled down I thought you'd lost your marbles when you were indicating pokeathlon stats for its Bug forme specifically. The Pokedex on the games treats it as a Normal-type. We don't have different coloured articles for Kecleon or Castform and they don't need to be holding special items to change forme. I think leaving it as Normal-type is most convenient and less confusing, also we have articles displaying what TMs and HMs it can learn as different types so why bother with all this. Lucky V4.0 14:27, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
- Its probably because Arceus has different Performance stats for its forms, its attack has different type for plate held, and because its sprite changes too. Too just list it all would make the page too long if it weren't hidden. Turtwig's A-B-Cs (talk | contribs) 14:32, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not suggesting have everything listed for all types. However it would be easier to select which type you want instead of it being random each time. Lucky V4.0 15:22, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
- I know. But I'm pretty sure with wikicode you can't do that, unless each type had their own page. At least with the random function you have a 1/17 chance of getting the one you want. If not, then just use the show/hide function. The only difference would be the template colors. Turtwig's A-B-Cs (talk | contribs) 15:32, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Type Change
I've ranted on this subject time and time again but isn't it misleading for someone to come across this article and for it to say that Arceus is a Ghost or Ice type (or whatever type that shows up) when Arceus is Normal-type but changes due to an item. This is no different than making Kecleon's page change types randomly because of Color Change, except for what color Arceus changes to, or listing every Pokémon with the chance of having the ability Mummy since any Pokémon except for Arceus and Shedinja can have the Mummy ability. I believe that Arceus needs to be listed as a Normal type as it naturally is when no items are held, just like how Kecleon is when it hasn't been hit by a foe's move or how a Marill is before being hit by a foe with the ability mummy. Does anyone else agree? --Landfish7 21:37, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- How is it misleading? The intro sentence of this artticle clearly states: "Arceus (Japanese: アルセウス Arceus) is a Normal-type legendary Pokémon. However, its type will change when it is holding one of sixteen items known as plates and can in reality be any type. " —♥ Jellotalk 21:42, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, exactly it says it's a Normal-type (Because naturally it is) while the templates might say it's a Poison-type when this isn't always the case, yeah so it's not always Normal-type either but may I remind you of Kecleon? Or maybe we can say that its type "varies", but I'd rather leave the templates as if it's a Normal-type. --Landfish7 22:15, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- What's the big deal? The Kecleon example you are using... the type is not permanent after battle, hence why Porygon nor Pokémon with Camouflage is on here as well. Kecleon and Porygon... they were Normal-type prior to battle, and they are still Normal-type after battle. The difference is that Arceus's type is permanent from before battle and after battle. ht14 22:18, 29 December 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, but it isn't a natural Water or Grass-type, it is a Water or Grass type only when holding their respective plates, but naturally, without the use of an item, Arceus is a Normal-type, if they came up with an item called Aqua Sponge that turned Water-types into Normal-types we wouldn't make every Water-type Pokémon's page rotate from Normal to Water, of course I know the difference is that would be affecting a lot more pages but I still think it's misleading and somewhat confusing with the Forme rotation. --Landfish7 01:14, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- It changes because it's a form difference if Kecleon changed its sprite then we could do something with it.--MisterE13 04:23, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
- Kecleon does not actually change forms; if Color Change counted as changing forms, we could say that all Pokémon do due to Color Change being Skill Swappable. However, Arceus does actually change forms. --SnorlaxMonster 05:37, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

I find this type confusion that you guys are creating a great annoyance, and plain out stupid. Let's just say that someone was researching Arceus, and used Bulbapedia. The whole template is colored, yellow with the type and image indicating that it's an electric type. It just doesn't make any sense why you don't just state that he is capable of type change, while leaving the template in his default form? --Christopher Costello 19:24, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
- Because if you took the time to read the first few lines of the article you can see it clearly states that it can change forms. Bulbapedia is about the article information stated the templates are for neatness and visual aid. so it's not "Plain out stupid" for it shows all of Arceus's forms. It doesn't always stay yellow it changes color everytime you visit the page. --Pokemaster97 19:31, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
- Although I don't agree it is stupid, I will ask why can't it stay in it's normal template? Why does is have to constantly change? Is it to be showy or fun or is it just to show that it is capable of being whatever type it displays? Toadstool 17:37, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
??? arceus transfered?
What happens if a ??? type arceus is hacked into the game then someone tries to transfer it to black/white? Savelijah 17:55, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- Simple; When transferring a Pokémon to Black and White, all held items are returned to the bag of the Gen. IV game. You can only transfer a Normal-type Arceus that way. '~Jhuyu26', user of Generation V glitch Pokémon -----! 01:06, 7 July 2011 (UTC)
Contradiction?
The trivia section says this: "Arceus's signature move, Judgment, is the only move that Arceus is guaranteed STAB for, as it is always the same type as Arceus itself. However, on the battle screen, Judgment is always displayed as a Normal-type attack." With the rotating type change, Judgement also changes in the moveset. I don't mind the templates changing on the page - I think it's kind of cool - but can Judgement be changed to always be Normal? Ikarishipper900 02:33, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Connection with the bible?
Hey guys, I was just looking at a picture of Arceus and it occured to me how similar Arceus is to the 'wheel' mentioned in the bible (Ezekiel).
The wheel supposedly came from the heavens or space;
Ezekial 1:5 - "and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures" (Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Arceus?) Ezekial 1:7 - "Their legs were straight; their feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished bronze" (Could refer to Dialga and Arceus, Dialga being steel (burnished bronze)) Ezekial 1:16-21 - "This was the appearance and structure of the wheels: They sparkled like chrysolite, and all four looked alike. Each appeared to be made like a wheel intersecting a wheel", "the wheels did not turn about as the creatures went. Their rims were high and awesome, and all four rims were full of eyes all around" (Arceus' wheel, at least to me, seems metallic, and the intersection could suggest Arcues inside the wheel. And, there are 4 jewels 'eyes' on the wheel.)
The creatures also have 'wings', which would be similar except for the case of Arceus
Anyone reckon this part of the bible was considered in Arceus' creation?

"Arms"
I eas just watching the Movie and I think the "arms" Arceus is supposed to have are not made of matter, but energy. This could explain why the dex sayes it has arms but you don't see them. Truthseeker4449 01:16, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
I have to concur with Truthseeker4449 that the "arms" might be not of matter but of energy. Another possibility is that the "1000 arms" is just a metaphor to signify how mythical Arceus is. Arceustheomnipotent 05:04, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Allegedly created the universe
I will not argue that Arcues created Shinno but it's only stated that he MAY have created ALL pokemon and the Universe. But let's look at something. Mew has been declared the Original pokemon since Gen 1 without any contradictions. Arcues is a Shinno legendary and so it's only natural that the locals believe it to be the creator. But Mew has officially been stated in again many sources to have EVERY pokemon DNA. IT can transform and use ANY technique. So Arcues could NOT have created Mew as Mew was the 1st pokemon. Plus there are other legendaries from other regions that were said to have created the regions they inhabit. And lastly how can Arcues be a God if humans can capture him? I think we need to go onto Mew and Arcues' pages and make sure that this is clear. This is not opinion but facts backed by sources. Gen 1,2,4 games and The Original Official Pokemon handbook under Mew's page and several subsequent handbooks featuring Mew. Genemaxwell4 09:48, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
- Mew is almost always stated to be "believed by scientists" to be the ancestor of all Pokémon... it never says for a fact that it is. Scientists (in real life) have been wrong before on many things... perhaps Mew being the ancestor of all Pokémon will some day just be an outdated theory.
- As for Arceus as the "creator of the Universe"... it's Pokédex entries all either say "it has been said" or specifcally say that it's Sinnoh myth... they never say for certain that he is some sort of creator god. I personally think the whole thing is a stupid concept... why base an encyclopedia entry of an actual animal on some myth rather than true facts? (That's like me looking up "falcon" in an encyclopedia and finding all sorts of references to it being some sort of sun god, simply because it was one in ancient Egyptian belief). But that's how it is... interpret it however you want. Maybe this whole conflict was intentional so that fans could interpret it differently (like how other aspects of Pokémon are... such as the definition of "Pokémon master"). base stat similarities
with everything I've noticed about the base stats of Pokémon on the Pokédex is that there are two Pokémon that have a completely even base stat spread (base HP=base Atk=Base Def=base SpA=base SpD=base Speed) Arceus has a 120-120-120-120-120-120 base spread effectively making it the strongest base Pokémon in the games to date, but there is one more Pokémon that shares the even base spread with Arceus. It is the weakest base Pokémon in the games to date, Sunkern, who's base spread is 30-30-30-30-30-30 (All stat spreads are in the HP-Atk-Def-SpA-SpD-Speed). If there are any other Pokémon that share this trait, please let me know.

???-type sprite
"It is possible this sprite was programmed in to prevent game crashes caused by tampering with Arceus's type."
Not saying that this should be removed, because yeah, that is a possibility. But it's unlikely. There doesn't need to be a special sprite to do that... they could have just used the Normal-type sprite in the case that it ends up as a ???-type. Or used some other placeholder... they could have even left it blank. And also, I doubt that Nintendo cares about preventing game crashes due to stuff that is impossible to do without messing with stuff that shouldn't be messed with. I mean, there's probably tons of other ways that someone could crash the game when that person starts altering variables and stuff and I'm sure that Nintendo didn't waste their time trying to prevent those game crashes. Anyway, I have no idea why they made a special sprite for the ???-type. Maybe it was just because the graphics people got bored and decided to have some fun making something pointless (like the truck in Generation I). Dannyjenn 20:48, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

- Because that's too many images. Once X and Y are released it would be more than 200 front sprites. It'd look awful, and probably cause loading issues as well - this page is already very large and there's been problems with it loading in the past. If you want to see the shiny meadow form, click the "Arceus images on Bulbagarden Archives" link below the sprite box. Why do we not list Arceus on all of the type pages? We do that for every other Pokemon whose forme changes type. Ghost Type Master (talk) 1:03, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
Arceus holding all plates
By the type charts, if Arceus held all the plates at once-even the pixie plate- he would get 2x damage from Rock. That would explain why a meteor was able to hurt in M12. Without the plates compromising the Jewel of Life and no Pixie plate, he gets 2x damage from electric attacks, 1x from steel, and 2x from fire. Hence, why the villain in M12 used electric attacks and molten steel to hold Arceus down. This should be trivia somewhere-here or on the Arceus M12 page.- unsigned comment from ZoroFan (talk • contribs)
- No, that is too speculative: The writers aren't that good with the type matchups and there clearly wasn't the Pixie Plate in the movie.--電禅Den Zen 18:47, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
Even without the Pixie Plate, the results still stand. I ran the numbers.Besides, by M12, the writers don't show a problem with type match-ups, especially since it's a movie. How about just stating that if Arceus hold all of the plates, he's 2x from Rock?

- There's really too much impracticality here. This is really just a theoretical summation of the damage possibilities to a Pokemon of all types, and that's just not needed here. Plus, there's no way for Arceus to hold all the plates, so its a moot point. You could argue that it can in the anime, but the anime clearly does not always follow the rules the games do, electricity damages Ground-types in the anime sometimes. This just isn't worth noting on the page. Also, please don't reasign comments after posting them, it messes up the timestamp. Thanks. Crystal Talian 19:17, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
Using Deity/Deities derived terms when speaking generically
What is wrong with using deity/deities or derived terms when speaking generically (no gender connotations that is)?

7.1 Origin
I'm not sure about this, but does Arceus' name possibly come from Zeus? If someone thinks it's plausible, please add it to the main page. CY (talk) 04:01, 5 March 2016 (UTC)
Shiny event
Serebii lists a shiny Arceus in its history of Arceus events, but it is not listed anywhere on Bulbapedia, so could we please confirm the details of this Arceus. Also, what languages can that Arceus have in its nickname? I want to know if one I fought is hacked. PartHunter (talk) 12:50, 25 October 2016 (UTC)

- What about possible nickname languages? Shouldn't the text mention the possible shiny version? PartHunter (talk) 20:29, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
- I don't really know what you mean by nickname languages. But at any rate, if you think the text can be improved in some way, you're of course welcome to. Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:37, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
- Having a given language of its name as its nickname. What languages are possible for the shiny Arceus to be named in when obtained (specifically, can any have an nickname of Arceus instead of アルセウス), since the nickname is set by the wondercard and Serebii lists it with a Japanese nickname. PartHunter (talk) 01:27, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
- I guess we've not especially noted that. You may want to have a gander at the Wonder Card data at Project Pokemon. Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:45, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
- As stated at the bottom of the event template "This Pokémon is set to the same language as the game that received it." All Wonder Card event Pokémon in Generation VI (i.e. all event Pokémon except trade events) have their language set to match the game they are obtained in. Because Generation VI games can be set to any language regardless of region, all languages are legal for this Arceus's language of origin (and all Generation VI event Pokémon, except trade events). --SnorlaxMonster 09:25, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
