Marvin

Marvin (Japanese: マナブ Manabu) is a character in the Pokémon Adventures manga.

In the manga

Pokémon Adventures

Marvin debuted in PASS01. He had recently moved to Galar and noted how different the local Zigzagoon looked compared to where he was from. He was surprised by a giant Pangoro and wandered into a campsite, where he encountered Sōdo Tsurugi, Shirudomiria Tate, and Professor Magnolia, learning that the giant Pangoro had just been a simulation used by Shirudomiria to research Dynamax.

Wanting to teach Marvin about what Dynamaxing is, Sōdo and Shirudomiria allowed the boy to participate in another simulation. Sōdo lent his Sirfetch'd to use since Marvin had no Pokémon of his own. Together, the trio fought the Dynamax Pangoro hologram, eventually defeating it. Having experienced a Pokémon battle for the first time, Marvin gained the confidence to set out on his own Pokémon journey. After asking and receiving approval from his parents, Marvin joined Sōdo and others on their quest to study Dynamax.

In PASS03, the trailer house was attacked by a trio of wild Drednaw. In order to battle the Bite Pokémon, Sōdo and Shirudomiria each received a Rotom Phone with a Pokédex function installed, officially making them both Pokédex holders. With some assistance from Sobble, the Drednaw were defeated. Afterward, Professor Magnolia suggested Marvin keep Sobble, which he happily accepted and later nicknamed Namida-kun.

In PASS08, Marvin helped Sōdo train for his upcoming Gym battle with Nessa. Marvin eventually called off the battle, but Sōdo's Sutikkun gained enough experience to evolve into a Thwackey. Afterward, Marvin and Shirudomiria went to Hulbury Stadium, where they watched Sōdo's battle with Nessa.

In PASS16, Marvin and Sōdo trained together in preparation for the latter's Gym battle with Opal. While they sparred, Namida-kun evolved into a Drizzile, giving Sōdo the idea to use its water bombs and devise a strategy for avoiding Opal's Gigantamax Alcremie's attacks. The training proved to be a success, allowing Sōdo to win the battle.

In PASS18, the group traveled to Route 9 Tunnel, where several people had reported seeing Pokémon Dynamaxing despite it not being a Power Spot. There, they found a wild Dracovish under attack by several Trainers under orders to either catch or get rid of it. With quick thinking and Namida-kun's tears, Marvin kept the Trainers distracted long enough for him to catch Dracovish and escape. At Sōdo and Shirudomiria's suggestion, he decided to keep Dracovish and nicknamed Uonon.

Namida-kun (Japanese: ナミダくん Namida-kun) is Marvin's first known Pokémon. As a Sobble, it took a liking to Marvin as they traveled together and happily accepted when he asked it to join his team. It later evolved into a Drizzile while helping Sōdo prepare for his fifth Gym battle.

Uonon
Debut PASS17

Uonon (Japanese: ウオのん Uonon) is Marvin's second known Pokémon. Something caused it to Dynamax at the Route 9 Tunnel, sending it into a berserk rampage from shock. Several Macro Cosmos employees were sent to cover up the mess by either catching or getting rid of Dracovish, but it was saved at the last second by Marvin and Namida-kun.

None of Uonon's moves are known.
