Oh, I agree. Definitely, each season should have its own respective page, along with each movie.

Continuity

Are the shows considered to be what actually happened?? (Please say YES!!)--Bly1993 14:37, 3 January 2006 (CST)

This is more of a list Pokemon themes, rather than about the anime.

Well it's not like we need to actually explain what anime is. It is kinda assumed that people aren't that stupid as to not know that. And sure, it may be a list of the different themes used during the different series (usually, each Japanese theme corresponds to an English one, while each English one corresponds to a season, and each movie corresponds to each season), but what do you want us to do, put the entire list of the episodes, what happens in them and everything on the page? We link to the separate pages for them all. It's a list of everything in the anime aside from the characters, which are more than easily accessed from the page. TTEchidna 07:34, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

2nd longest

Isn't Pokémon the 2nd longest running television show to still air new episodes? (Supased only by the Simpsons, which first aired in 1989) ShinyPika <3 ALS 18:45, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Still nowhere near. Sazae-san is the longest anime, with 6429 episodes since 1969. behind that we have Doraemon with 2189, and Nintama with 1483. And all three are STILL GOING. --Cadellin 17:07, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

CN's time slot

Apparently CN decided to screw all of us Pokemon watchers to watch the series at 7 EST in the morning, which is clearly out of hand. Personally we need to email the situation about this and why it's not a good idea for Pokemon to be dropped two hours earlier. Honestly, why the change is beyond me. Usual Cycle

How long is a usual cycle of a region? For example... Kanto region conquering took 2 years to finish the anime series. (Japan's series, anyway). I think Sinnoh took 4 years? Hoenn + Battle frontier is probably 3 years. Since Ash already has 4 badges in Unova, how long will it take to finish 4 more battles, the fight of a lifetime vs. "Said team villains", and lose to someone in the Pokemon League? By looking at patterns. It's been about 7 months since airing, hasn't it? Chocos0 04:54, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Japanese vs. Dubs

I know that most of you won't agree with me on this, but I think we should incorporate both the moves of Pokemon shown in the Dub, and in the Original version. Because so many people will be watching so many different dubs, it is important that we provide the appropriate information for all different countries' versions. It would be extremely simple just to label some moves in the (country)'s dub only section.- unsigned comment from Confusion (talkcontribs)

Fragment

Excuse me, please. Could you answer my question, from which episode this fragment? Thanks in advance. I'll delete this post after receiving a answer, thanks. This fragment. Psyduck123 13:01, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Correction?

In the area that lists each anime episode, it says that EP081 was the first episode in the Orange Islands saga, but this episode was actually the last Indigo Plateau episode as the Indigo Plateau theme song plays at the beginning of the episode instead of the Orange Islands theme. The first Orange Islands episode was actually EP082 as this was the first episode that featured the Orange Islands theme. I just brought this up because I'm not sure exactly how to upload pictures to Bulbapedia yet, so I wouldn't be able to properly correct the error. (Charizard101 (talk) 02:53, 8 October 2012 (UTC))

Best Wishes series

How come for Best Wishes & Rival Destinies, they are made bigger? I understand why this happens for AG & DP, but BW has the same amount of "seasons" for the Japan & US. In AG & DP, there was always one extra, explaining why one part was made bigger. Shouldn't the BW sections all be the same size? Torpoleon (talk) 16:57, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

Be an Arrow!

Why do we have to consider Be an Arrow! 2013 a different opening than Be an Arrow!? We don't consider different versions of other openings in this list, so I think it's unnecesary. The same goes for *deep breath* Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! Season 2 Episode N, since *deep breath* Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! Season 2 Episode N is not a different season, but part of Pocket Monsters Best Wishes! Season 2 as well.

Structure of Dub Broadcast

In Season 1 + 2, there is a post-intro segment, with the Pokemon logo appearing for a short time. This probably makes me believe right after the intro it cuts to commercial break them the episode begins. Also, I was wondering if during the Kids' WB days of Pokemon it was also aring on Fox Kids (as a block on the Fox stations in the U.S., from EP044 of Season 1 through Season 4), then on FoxBox/4KidsTV (4Kids' block on Fox stations lasting from Season 5-8)...

Please respond ASAP!

Maybe we can have a page about it... I wanted to create it at least at userspace, but I am not in Staff(((--Michail2003 (talk) 06:48, 9 January 2018 (UTC)

8 series

The official Japanese Pokemon website (https://www.pokemon.co.jp/anime/tv/#anc6) lays the anime out into eight series: the original series, Orange Islands, Gold & Silver, Advanced Generation, Diamond & Pearl, Best Wishes, XY, and Sun & Moon. --Master Lucario (talk) 16:00, 14 August 2018 (UTC)--Master Lucario (talk) 16:00, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

Other anime series

Is this page about the Pokémon anime series, or about Pokémon animation as a whole?

It is broadly structured as if it is specifically about the Pokémon anime series only, but then has the section "Other anime series", which covers various Pokémon animations that are not part of the Pokémon anime. (The anime navigation template even links to it!) And then there is the "Variety shows" section, which covers shows that are not animated, but are somewhat related to the Pokémon anime series.

In my opinion, the "Other anime series" section should be removed and replaced with "See also" links, so that this page can be exclusively about the Pokémon anime series. --SnorlaxMonster 07:42, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Basically, the distinction I'm trying to draw is the same as the distinction between the Pokémon manga page (a page about the medium as a whole) and Pokémon Adventures (a page about a specific series within that medium). In the case of the anime, there is one particular series that overwhelmingly dominates in that medium, but it's not the only Pokémon series in that medium (at least, not anymore). Perhaps we should create a Pokémon animation page, to cover the medium as a whole? --SnorlaxMonster 07:44, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
Alternatively, could this be a landing page for the medium (like Pokémon manga) and then have off-shoot pages for Pokémon the Series, Pokémon movies, Pokémon Origins, Pokémon Evolutions etc? - bthrussellUK (talk) 12:19, 25 September 2021 (UTC)

Future

With today's announcement, I think it will be good to discuss how some things (and the anime section as a whole) on this page will work. It will take a lot of work.--Hikaru Wazana (talk) 11:40, 16 December 2022 (UTC)

Proposed move

So, as it stands, there are still a few details about the future of the TV show that we aren't sure about yet, but one thing we are sure about is that there are now multiple animes happening for the Pokémon franchise, and we need to start reckoning with that. The first step is having a landing page for all of these different animes collectively, and distinguishing when we are talking about "Pokémon anime" as a general item like Pokémon manga, and when we are talking about the main TV series. The first step is moving this page, with all of its history, to Pokémon the Series (since that's how this page has been treated so far). This has been discussed at length on the discord, and if I remember correctly, this part has been pretty agreed on, so let's hear out any final opinions on this step, and figure out the next steps for this lengthy process.

As a formality, I will also state Agree for the proposed move. MaverickNate 15:48, 18 March 2023 (UTC)

I Agree as well. Per the discord discussion, I've started up a draft in my userspace here: User:Boblers/Pokémon the Series.
This draft is also assuming that all of the content relevant to Pokemon the Series (PTS) should also be listed, or at least links should be provided to dedicated listings. Things like movies, special episodes, etc that use PTS's world and characters, while not strictly taking the form of TV episodes. This could act as a sort of hub page for PTS content, as well as help to distinguish which works do or do not tie in to PTS. --Boblers (talk) 16:11, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
Otherwise, wouldn't oppose this, but I'm just wondering how all the {{pkmn|anime}} links would be handled. There's so many of them all over the site, and most people who come to Bulbapedia to search for stuff about Pokémon anime will use the term to refer to the main series. I'd personally probably want to keep the "Pokémon anime" page dedicated to the main series and give all the web anime (as they've officially been referred as) their own (sub) page. "Pokémon the Series" is an official term, yes, but not what most people would use to search for the main series anime on this site. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 19:05, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
A possible solution for this problem could be keeping the "Pokémon the Series" content on the "Pokémon anime" page and creating instead a separate "Pokémon animation" page for all the various Pokémon animated productions in general. --Ricbolog1310 (talk) 19:46, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
Going the "animation" and "anime" route could be a good middle-ground solution, if we're really not comfortable with using the PTS name. But I still think PTS is more intuitive. --Boblers (talk) 20:14, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
Per the concern that there's a lot of relinking involved, we can easily use Bulbabot to streamline that process, so it's a non issue.
As for having the different sets of information on "Pokémon anime" and "Pokémon animation", we generally avoid assigning arbitrary definitions to generic terms, as it frequently doesn't make any sense to people actually reading the website. We could certainly still have "Pokémon anime" redirect to Pokémon the Series if we needed to, with a hat note pointing to a generic "Pokémon animation" page, but we shouldn't have a generic title referring to a specific item since that's one of the problems we should be fixing with this change (see #Other anime series for more details. MaverickNate 13:15, 19 March 2023 (UTC)
I think Maverick Nate's latest solution makes the most sense. Keeping this page as a redirect to "Pokémon the Series" and creating the all-encompassing article at "Pokémon animation" would prevent readers who don't know about the move from finding themselves on a different page than expected and would also prevent relinking. Kᴀᴜʟɪ 〔Tᴀʟᴋ+〕 20:49, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
I don't think I'd personally like the move of such a long-established article being moved when it would result in people searching for a redirect page a lot of the time. Couldn't other anime/animations just be split into their own category, like "other anime" or "other animations"? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 01:05, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
Isn't that exactly what redirects are for though? To redirect people to an article when they search for an alternative name? The article for every Pokémon species has a redirect, as people aren't searching "Bulbasaur (Pokémon)". Most people would search for core series games without the word "Version" and we have redirects for that. The articles for anime episodes are located at their epicodes, so the episode titles have redirects as well. I don't see how people searching for a redirect page would be an issue when we already have that for every Pokémon species and every anime episode. Kᴀᴜʟɪ 〔Tᴀʟᴋ+〕 04:23, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
IMO, splitting "anime" and "animation" to different articles would still be a preferable option to renaming a long-established article. "Anime" is such an easily recognizable term, used across the internet far more often than "Pokémon the Series". --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 21:30, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
If I could input my 2 cents on the matter. You guys usually try to use the most official name when naming a page. For example, the first Pokémon game is officially called "Pokémon Red and Blue Versions" but most people just simply say "Pokémon Red and Blue". I've seen people call Pokémon Adventures simply the "Pokémon manga" because it's the most well-known Pokémon manga, but the page is called "Pokémon Adventures" because that is its official name. Even right now, you guys are debating on changing the name of "Starter Pokémon" to the more official term "First Partner Pokémon", because that is the term that has been used more recently. The "Pokémon anime" is technically not even its real name, its official name is "Pokémon the series", with "Pokémon animated series" or "Pokémon television series" also being names used by the Pokémon Company itself. Some in-game events even called the main anime "the Pokémon Cartoon". So I'm all for making the main show its own page named "Pokémon the series", and keeping this page as "Pokémon anime". Plus it's not like "Pokémon the series" wouldn't be near the top of the "Pokémon anime" page, fans will still be able to find the main show when they search Pokémon anime. TBR2001 (talk) 05:52, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
Shouldn't Journeys be included in the split? Like the original anime and Horizons, it's simply called Pocket Monsters in Japan, which means it's its own series. サトミュウ (SatoMew) 12:21, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
I don't think Journeys or Horizons should be included in the split, as they are both still considered part of the overall "Pokémon the Series" show. Plus Journeys and Horizons already have a page in Pokémon Journeys: The Series and Pokémon Horizons: The Series, so having "Pokémon Horizons" be included in the split seems pointless. There is no need to make another page called "Pokémon Horizons" when there already is one. Plus It will be confusing as there is already a manga series called Pokémon Horizon. If it is about the amount of Pokémon manga based on "Pokémon Horizons: The Series", then just add a section in "Pokémon the Series" called Manga based on Pokémon the Series where we can put stuff like The Electric Tale of Pikachu, Pokémon Journeys: The Series (manga), and the other Pokémon manga based on the TV series in.TBR2001 (talk) 19:23, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
The official video released to celebrate Pokémon's 25th anniversary specifically uses the term "anime" to refer to the series, distinguishing it from the other animations by calling them "web anime". Personally, I think this is how it should be done here too: leave the regular anime as its own section and give the web anime its own section, where the various different series can be used as subheaders. It also shows that "anime" is an official term used to refer to the series, not just something the fans do. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 08:40, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
I think a fair compromise can be to have this "Pokemon anime" page as a sort of disambig, just having a short prose introduction and a table for different available series (including everything: main series, PO, PG, PE, TW, PPW, etc). This would be similar to the tables for the current "other anime" section, having only the series logo, JP debut, US debut, and maybe number of episodes. A potential "main anime series" or "Pokemon The Series" page can have all the detailed debut information, the detailed tables, and trivia. This way, all the other series pages, ("original series", "Pokemon The Series: Ruby & Sapphire", and so on) can remain as they are.
Honestly, even the current system is good as is. An introductory sentence could simply say "The Pokemon Television series, more popularly known as the Pokemon anime, ..." and that could be it. There can even be a new "terminology" section as is being done for player characters and such. → PikaTepig999 11:58, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
