Dialga, Palkia and Giratina on the Spear Pillar

Dragon trio is a term used to refer to three legendary Pokémon of the Sinnoh region. This trio is composed of three Pokémon: Dialga, Palkia and Giratina.

All of the mentioned Pokémon have similarities with the other members, much like other members of legendary trios. Each has Dragon as their secondary type, as well as a base stat total of 680, distributed among the stats as 150-120-120-100-100-90, though in different orders. Many of the moves each learns by leveling up also correspond roughly to those learned by the others, while all three are the version mascots of the Generation IV Sinnoh-based games. Like others, they share an ability among them: Pressure, though Giratina's Origin Forme has Levitate.

Dialga controls time, while Palkia controls space, whereas Giratina on the other hand seems to have the ability to control other dimensions. The presence of Dialga and Palkia causes a rip in dimensions, creating a gateway to the dimension where Giratina inhabits.

Trivia

• Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina all have footprints that look like crowns. Dialga's looks like a king's crown, Palkia's looks like a queen's, and Giratina's is smaller than that, possibly a prince's.
• Of the three, Palkia is the only member of its trio to share its type with another Pokémon.
• Giratina is the only member of the trio that, in Platinum, is not found in Sinnoh (residing in the Ruined World instead of the Spear Pillar), has its own unique battle music, is able to change forms (between Another Forme and Origin Forme), and has two different overworld sprites. Also, Giratina is the only member whose box art differs from its original sprite in Diamond and Pearl.
