Doduo (Japanese: ドードー Dodo) is a dual-type Normal/Flying Pokémon.
It evolves into Dodrio at level 31.
Biology
Physiology
This avian has tiny wings and two heads. It cannot fly well, but it's Template:A2.
Gender differences
A female has brown necks, while a male has black ones.
Special abilities
It can run at sixty miles per hour, and one head is always Template:A2.
Behavior
The heads of a Doduo appear to be quite keen with each other, they use a type of 'teamwork' to get things done and to survive. For example, while running, Doduo can be seen alternately rising and lowering their heads. They do this to balance themselves while running at extreme speeds. This Pokémon also appears to be quite cautious, the heads take turns sleeping while the other one watches for enemies.
Habitat
Doduo live in wide open plains, grasslands, and savannahs. They rarely live in forests but are sometimes found in scrublands and deserts.
Diet
Main article: Pokémon food
In the anime
Doduo's first appearance was a cameo at Professor Oak's labratory in Showdown at the Poké Corral, belonging to Gary Oak. It eventually evolved into a Dodrio.
In Bad to the Bone, Otoshi tried to fight off Team Rocket with a Doduo, but he was failing miserably until his Marowak decided to return.
In the manga
Prior to her appearance in Pokémon Special, Yellow is given a Doduo that eventually evolves in Template:PSV. The person who gave her Doduo is revealed in Template:PSV to be her uncle, Fisherman Wilton.
Mr. Fuji is revealed to have had a doduo that passed away due to old age.
In the TCG
- Main article: Doduo (TCG)
In the TFG
One Doduo figure has been released.

Trivia
- Doduo's English name was originally going to be the same as the Japanese one, "Dodo".
- In Pokémon Colosseum, when Doduo uses Fly, it runs in place while in midair, which seems to suggest that it hovers in midair using the momentum of running as opposed to achieving flight in the traditional sense.
- Strangely, while one of its Template:P2 heads is saying something in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, the others say me too or mine too but its own head won't.
- Doduo and Dodrio are the only Pokémon that receive the ability Run Away that aren't in the Ground Egg Group.
- In Generation II, its shiny sprite was yellow, like a canary. It was changed to green in Generation III.
- Before Generation IV, the normal necks of Doduo were black (the male), while its evolution's neck is the color of the female's.
Origin
Despite its name, it seems like it has more in common with ostriches than dodos. It also seems to show some similarity to the Moa, an extinct flightless bird, and the Emu, another flightless bird. It also resembles the Kiwi bird in some ways as well. It is also very good at running, like the Chocobo of Final Fantasy fame.
Name origin
Doduo's name seems to be a combination of dodo, an extinct, flightless bird, and duo, meaning a pair. Its Japanese name is simply Dodo.
In other languages
- German: Dodu
- French: Doduo
- Korean: 두두 Dodo
- Chinese (Hong Kong): 多多 - many
