Trivia

  • Bagon is the second non-Template:Type2 Pokémon (after Larvitar) to go through a metamorphosis-like evolution. Both Larvitar and Bagon are reptiles, and both of their final forms (Tyranitar and Salamence) are pseudo-legendaries.
  • Bagon and its evolutionary line are the only Pokémon that are exclusively in the Dragon Egg Group.
  • Despite its Pokédex entries saying its head is as hard as steel, it cannot learn Iron Head.

Origin

Bagon is based on a dragon, but possibly draws some aspects from pachycephalosaurus, a species of two-legged dinosaurs known for their domed heads.

Name origin

Bagon's name is possibly a combination of baby and dragon. Its Japanese name is a combination of 竜 tatsu, dragon, and possibly English baby.
