Pelipper (Japanese: ペリッパー Pelipper) is a dual-type Water/Flying Pokémon.

It evolves from Wingull starting at level 25.

Biology

Physiology

Pelipper has a white body with a yellow underside. Its feet and wing tips are blue and its bill is large and yellow with a sac hanging under it.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Pelipper can store a series of objects in their large, sturdy bill. They are also able to carry small creatures in it to protect them from predators.

Habitat

Pelipper live on steep cliffs that hang over the sea and that is where they build their nests.

Diet

Main article: Pokémon food

Pelipper eat fish from the ocean by dipping their bills into the water and scooping them up, but may also snack on seeds and bread thrown out to shore.

Pelipper first appeared in Hoenn Alone!.

In You Said a Mouthful, a Trainer named Anthony has a Pelipper that he used to challenge other trainers to battle it in an unofficial gym. Anthony was a cheater because he stuffed a bunch of Poké Balls with small Pokémon in them into the Pelipper's bill.

Georgio owns a Pelipper that he used to send a letter to Misty and chase Butch and Cassidy in A Date With Delcatty.

In Sky High Gym Battle, Winona used a Pelipper against Ash during the Gym Battle. This Pelipper had a unique way handling its weakness to Electrical attacks. It strikes the ground with Steel Wing, which would cause any Electric attack pass through it into the ground.

Juan has a Pelipper that appeared in The Great Eight Fate!.

A Pelipper also appeared in Pruning a Passel of Pals!.

During this time, Pelipper will swallow the ball in its beak if the ball goes into the coin loop. It will then either drop the ball over the Seedot bumpers or send the player to the Sealeo Bonus Field.
  • Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: The Post Office in Pokémon Square is run by a group of Pelipper. The Pelipper can also be seen delivering the mail.

Ruby Pelipper is a flying transporter that carries small Pokémon and eggs inside its massive bill. This Pokémon builds its nest on steep cliffs facing the sea.
Sapphire Pelipper searches for food while in flight by skimming the wave tops. This Pokémon dips its large bill in the sea to scoop up food, then swallows everything in one big gulp.
Emerald It skims the tops of waves as it flies. When it spots prey, it uses its large beak to scoop up the victim with water. It protects its eggs in its beak.
FireRed It is a flying transporter that carries small Pokémon in its beak. It bobs on the waves to rest its wings.
LeafGreen It is a flying transporter that carries small Pokémon in its beak. It bobs on the waves to rest its wings.

This Pokémon resembles a pelican.

Name origin

Pelipper's name is probably derived from pelican and skipper, a rank of sailor, or possibly "flipper" referring to its wings.
