The Trainer House is a two-story building, located in Viridian City, in the Kanto region of the Generation II and IV games. During the Generation I and III games, however, this is the location of Kanto's Pokémon academy.

Geography

Ground floor

On entry, the first floor has a few people and a small desk. Speaking to the woman behind the desk enables entry into the lower basement, where a lone trainer can be found.

Basement

Generation II

This trainer will either be Cal, if the player has never used Mystery Gift with anyone, or the last player he or she has used Mystery Gift with. If it is Cal, his team will consist of the final forms of all three Johto starter Pokémon at level 50. If it is another player that has been Mystery Gifted with, their team will consist of whatever Pokémon were in their party at the time of Mystery Gifting, including held items, moves, levels, and so on. No matter what, however, the opponent trainer's sprite will be of Gold.

Generation IV

This trainer will show up as the Ace Trainer Cal in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Up to 10 other trainers can appear as well. This is done through the Pokewalker. When you meet someone in the Pokewalker and resync back to the players game, the trainer and their pokemon will appear in the basement.
