It evolves from Spheal starting at level 32, and evolves into Walrein starting at level 44.

Sealeo, like Seel, closely resembles a seal. Sealeo, however, is blue, unlike the gray Seel, and has thick, white whiskers in the shape of a have circle.

Sealeo, and its evolution family, Spheal and Walrein, are the only known Pokémon that can learn Ice Ball by level up.

Sealeo made its debut alongside its pre-evolution at the Slateport City Oceanic Museum in The Spheal of Approval.

A large group of Sealeo and Walrein are seen at the beginning of Destiny Deoxys.

The Sootopolis Gym Leader Juan uses a Sealeo in a Gym battle against Ash in The Great Eight Fate!.

A Sealeo appeared in Settling a Not-So-Old Score, participating in the Floaroma Pokémon Contest.

A Sealeo also appeared in Up Close and Personable!.

Sealeo was also seen in Giratina and the Sky Warrior.

Ruby Sealeo has the habit of always juggling on the tip of its nose anything it sees for the first time. This Pokémon occasionally entertains itself by balancing and rolling a Spheal on its nose.
Sapphire Sealeo often balances and rolls things on the tip of its nose. While the Pokémon is rolling something, it checks the object's aroma and texture to determine whether it likes the object or not.
Emerald Sealeo live in herds on ice floes. Using its powerful flippers, it shatters ice. It dives into the sea to hunt prey five times a day.
FireRed It touches new things with its nose to test for smell and feel. It plays by spinning Spheal on its nose.
LeafGreen It touches new things with its nose to test for smell and feel. It plays by spinning Spheal on its nose.

Trivia

  • Sealeo is the only Pokémon which evolves at level 44.
  • Sealeo's evolution line, along with Dewgong, are the only Pokémon to have a "triple resistance", thanks to the Thick Fat ability.

Sealeo is based on a seal.

Name origin

Sealeo's name is a combination of sea or seal and the Latin word leo, or lion. Its Japanese may be a combination of 海馬 todo, meaning sea lion, and juggler.
