Talk:Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia
Clothing cameo?
I showed my friends the recent scan from Famitsu here via Pokebeach and one of them commented that the male character was wearing a jacket from someone in the Megaman series. Roll Caskett apparently. It does look strickingly similar... Think it was intended? MK 01:19, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Mebbe. Either that or Pokémon is getting revenge on Mega Man for stealing their ideas. Ph34r4everTalk page06:10 16 Feb 2008
- ...Just noticed another similarity. You know those 'side-quests'? They are also in Star Force. O.o Optimatum♏Talk|♊12:26 5 Apr 2008
- Speaking of Mega Man references, Blake Hall's character resembled Serpent from Mega Man ZX, as both were presidents of a company, and the instigators of the terrible events (ZX: He was the Leader of both Serpent Inc and the Mavericks, SA: He was the leader of Aitru Corporation and Dim Sun), both were trying to revive a legendary, terrible (or rumored to be terrible in one case) creature to control it and possibly dominate the world (ZX: Serpent was trying to awaken Model W's Core so he can become the Ultimate Mega Man and the destined ruler, SA: He was trying to revive Darkrai so he could use it's power to plunge the world into darkness.), both were defeated, ironically by their own designs (ZX: Vent/Aile defeated him, partly because of his being behind their parent's murders, SA: Darkrai became beyond his control, and was sucked up in Dark Void), Heck, even the origin of their insanity was similar (ZX: He became insane due to being exposed to Model W's shard directly, and his being a Maverick Survivor acted as the final nail to the coffin, so to speak, SA: He became insane because of exposure to Darkrai's crystal by his father.). Should this be noted in the article? Weedle Mchairybug 01:16, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
Official?
Is there an official website for this game?PokeManiac102 17:54, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Wait...
So what are the green uniforms for? OptimatumTalk|♊12:26 20 Mar 2008
- School maybe? (Although a ten year-old wearing such short shorts seems rather lolicon...)--Loveはドコ? (talk • contribs) 13:55, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Yes it is the school uniform from the first parts of the game.
Meaning of Batonnage?
Does anyone know the meaning of Batonnage? It isn't Japanese is it? - unsigned comment from Veronica (talk • contribs)
- Only definition I could find is here. Well, it does make sense, since you spin your touch pen around. --Pizzaman 11:58, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
- It seems to be the name of a new upgrade to the Capture Styler. Hajime was yelling it a lot when he did that thing with his fingers in the anime special. The word appears to be derived from "Battle" and something else, though that wine find is interesting. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 12:02, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
- I always figured it had more to do with "baton" than anything else, with the baton being the Styler. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 19:44, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

<snall>(Resetting indent)The game has Prof. Hastings explain vatonage as meaning (something close to) "To free/release that which is covered/trapped in deep darkness," just so you know. LordArc eus 18:19, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- That's actually the fictional meaning made up by the authors for plot reasons. I don't think that this word means anything in reality. --Maxim 18:24, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- I think that was the principal of the school, but the point remains. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 18:20, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Should we take it off of standby till release mode?
I'm asking since it's been almost 3 months since it's release, and it still looks like its on standby for the release. I mean, it's getting a bit ridiculous that we haven't updated the Info about it. I mean, is it too much to at LEAST have a plot section? I mean, no offense, but I'm a bit surprised that it's been on standby mode even AFTER it's release. I mean, it can't be because of the Japanese release date because the anime episodes, as soon as they are released in japan have their articles edited heavily for stuff that happens in the episodes.
can someone care to edit the article to make it more up date for its release. I'd do it myself, but 1. Battonage hasn't been released in America yet, and 2. even if it has, I'm not buying it due to my being on a boycott.
Weedle Mchairybug 14:36, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm...let's see what our dudes have been doing. The plot section of PMD2 is officially belonging to Wikipedia...or is it the opposite? It's the Θρtιmαtum♏Talk|Links14:40 1 Jun 2008
- I checked Wikipedia, and there's... no plot section there either. Actually, I noticed that many pages and links to it are bare to the bone (In fact, the only FAQ for Batonnage on GameFAQ's is an Arena Guide.). And it's been at LEAST 2 months, if not three months since it's release in japan, since it's Japanese release date in Japan is supposed to be March the 20th, 2008. English name
Just so you know, I was watching Nintendo's E3 segment just now, and they mentioned this game's name is now Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. So I moved it accordingly. Toastypk 17:05, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Team
Is the Team's name really Dark-dark? Did the guy just translate? tc26 00:03, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
- It says on Serebii that the new name for Team Yamiyami is Team Dim Sun. Should this be added to the article?--Blazevoir!! 21:59, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'm still trying to figure out policies, but I think Serebii is not a reliable source. Rawr I say! 22:01, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Mini-Site Up
Just thought I'd let you guys know that Pokémon.com has teaser info up for the game. --Manga-in-a-bottle 10:25, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
Darkrai?
Well i was seeing the Darkrai section and I got confused when they said Darkrai would be able to catch in the game but it would be able only in the Japanese Version, is it only in the Japanese Version or is the American Version also going to let us catch Darkrai?- unsigned comment from Biyako (talk • contribs)
- Well in Japan he was released a few weeks later than the other ones so he probably will be a bitlater in America too.Shadow1337 00:09, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
But i also have a time limit to get it? After January 31 2009 they wont be giving out the Darkrai mission, right?- unsigned comment from Biyako (talk • contribs)
- Well it'll probably be a few weeks later then.Shadow1337 15:08, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
The mission are available during the specific time period only. The sending of the three Pokémon can only be done once. Darkrai's mission, in Japan, was a bit later than the first two. *tc26* 02:52, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
- What if i complete the mission and send them, after that restart the game and finish the game again, downloading the mission and sending them once more, is that possible?- unsigned comment from Biyako (talk • contribs)
- It wasn't last time with Manaphy, so I doubt it.
- And this really isn't the place for these kinds of questions. Take it to the forums, please. --Martonimos 20:13, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Release date?
We need to pin down the release date. The official site and Gamestop claim it's the tenth, but I've gone to other stores who claim it's the eleventh. ????? Grimlock OWNZORS
- http://www.pokemonranger.com states the release date is November 10, 2008. Often, some stores will state a day after the official release date, not sure as to the reason for it though. Anyhow, the date we have on the article comes directly from Nintendo, we have the correct date. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 02:49, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
- True, but I just got mine today, since the store near me said that the game SHIPPED yesterday from the East Coast, where it apparently WAS release on the 10th. I'd say the Nov 10 date is still fine, but it is odd that it would take an extra day to reach anywhere after the release date...NonaSuomi 20:55, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
I trusted it...
ok here's the deal, I assumed the UK & Ireland release date was the same as the Europe date was, BOY HOW I WAS WRONG, I just saw the ad and it said THE 10TH! we need to make sure this never happens again, 'cus the the day I'm late for Platinums release date is the day...well, I would probably reserve Platinum, but anyway either we made a mistake or we should make a UK release in the infobox----I'M PISSED ABOUT THIS RANGER THING!
- According to the UK version of Nintendo of Europe.. it's released on the 21st. Gywall(Talk) 21:40, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
- well maybe I overeacted but I really don't care that much 'cus this week I went crazy on mystery dungeon 2 and went from Amp plains all the way to beating Primal Dialga, any way tommorrow is Friday and I have a half day at school then I get a badly needed haircut and FINALLY get ranger 2----Ultamatecharizard 20:12, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Riolu
THis article says that the Riolu has a classic ribbon. Serebii.net says it doesn't. Which one is right (If the article is right, then I just wasted the last week on the GTS trying to get an Almian Riolu...)? - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talk • contribs) 20:42, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- Just transferred it.. and Classic Ribbon. So you wasted your time. Gywall(Talk) 10:15, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
- Just perfect. A WHOLE WEEK, SHOT! - unsigned comment from Missingno. Master (talk • contribs) 12:32, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Batonnage?
Was it EVER supposed to be "Batonnage"? There was no commonly known official spelling. "Batonnage" was just a guess, wasn't it? I find it highly possible that it was ALWAYS supposed to be "Vatonage". --Maxim 19:34, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
IT'S A STUB
look at it, it's smaller than my page- unsigned comment from Ultamatecharizard (talk • contribs)
New section for transferable Pokemon
Shouldn't there be a section for the transferable Pokémon? I'd make it if other people think it's a good idea. Same with the other Pokémon Ranger article. Sivart345 03:13, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
- See here: Ranger Net. The link is on the article, you can find it on the first few paragraphs. ×Kevzo8 03:16, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
Newb Question
Alright, so I pretty much just bought the game, so bear with me. I read the Ranger Net article and am still unsure of how you unlock those special missions (manphy, darkrai, etc.). There wasn't a discussion page there, and it wouldn't let me make one, so how do you get them (and how do you transfer them)? Silvermoonstar3 12:49, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, I think I just figured some of it out since my game crashed AGAIN (blackscreen) and I noticed the "Ranger Net" Option. I don't have wifi here, as I'm at work, so I can't check it quite yet. Are those 3 special event pokemon now impossible for me to get? (and do I transfer them via Ranger Net?)Silvermoonstar3 12:52, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Logo
I found the logo.
Image:PokémonRanger2_logo.jpg (Note: image deleted afterwards)
Does anyone think it should be on the article? Dolphins are awesome (and Vulpix are too) 21:46, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- No, because it has a watermark on it. -Sketch 21:47, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
I notice the logo under the header of "External links", it says Bulbanews has multiple articles related to this subject: Articles relating to Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. When I click on the link, it brings me to the site but it says Bulbanews does not yet have an article with this exact name. So why bother putting the link there when there is no article? Tetrix 03:32, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
- There are multiple articles about Shadows of Almia on Bulbanews; they just weren't categorised as such. I have fixed this, and there are now six or seven articles in that category. —darklordtrom 08:13, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
