Sacred Fire (Japanese: せいなるほのお Sacred Flame) is a damage-dealing Fire-type move introduced in Generation II. Prior to Generation VI, it was the signature move of Ho-Oh.
Effect
Sacred Fire inflicts damage, with a 50% chance of burning the target. If the user is frozen, using Sacred Fire will thaw out the user and deal damage to the target in the same turn.
Sacred Fire can be used as the second move of a Pokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 4 bonus appeal points if Sunny Day was used in the previous turn.
Generation VIII
In Versions 1.0 to 1.2.1 of Pokémon Sword and Shield, Sacred Fire could not be selected in a battle. Starting with Version 1.3.0, it is usable and functions the same as it did in previous generations.
