An Enigma Berry (Japanese: ナゾのみ Nazo Fruit) is a type of Berry introduced in Generation III. In Generation III, it is used as a placeholder for data from Pokémon Battle e cards, and cannot be legitimately obtained as an item in Western games. In Generation IV, it became a normal Berry, but retained its rarity. In Generation V, it can also be found as a Battle Subway NPC partner's occasional held item.
In the core series games
Price
In the Generation V games, the Enigma Berry can be sold to the gourmet maniac on Route 5 for $30,000.
Effect
Held item
Generation III
In the Generation III games, an Enigma Berry cannot be stolen by Thief or Covet, or exchanged by Trick.
e-Reader Berries held or consumed by another player's Pokémon will appear as Enigma Berries in the Pokémon Cable Club Colosseum.
The player will not be permitted to enter the Pokémon Cable Club Trade Center, the Pokémon Wireless Club Union Room, or the Pokémon Wireless Club Direct Corner Trade Center if a Pokémon in their party is holding this Berry. A Pokémon holding this Berry cannot be traded to Pokémon Colosseum or Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, nor can it be stored in the Western versions of Pokémon Box Ruby & Sapphire.
Generation IV onward
An Enigma Berry restores ¼ of the holder's max HP when the Pokémon is hit by a super effective move.
When forcibly consumed via Fling, Pluck, Bug Bite, or Item Urge, it restores ¼ of the holder's max HP.
