Psychic (type)
Template:ElementalTypes Template:TypeNotice Some notable Psychic trainers include Sabrina of Saffron City, Will of the Kanto/Johto Elite Four, Tate and Liza of Mossdeep City, and Lucian of the Sinnoh Elite Four.
Psychic type Pokémon are at the center of a balance issue in the Generation I games. The issue arose from the lack of an effective countermeasure against Psychic types caused by the absence of powerful Ghost and Bug type (the only elemental weaknesses of Psychic types) attacks. Additionally the only three Ghost type Pokémon in Generation I were weak to Psychic attacks due to their secondary Poison type. The issue was rectified in later generations with the addition of more powerful Ghost and Bug type attacks, pure Ghost type Pokémon, and Steel type Pokémon (which are resistant to Psychic attacks) and Dark type Pokémon (which are both immune to Psychic attacks, and powerful against Psychic Pokémon).
