Patrat (Japanese: ミネズミ Minezumi) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves into Miruhog starting at level 20.

Biology

Physiology

Patrat is a rodent-like Pokémon that resembles a chipmunk. It is mostly brown with a tan stomach and face. Its tail is long and straight with a scruffy white tip. It has a large pointed tooth that sticks out of its mouth. Patrat has a flat face, and its cheeks are very round. Its ears are small and pointed. Its head has a black band that covers the eyes, which have red irises with a yellow ring, and black pupils. Its feet are small and black, with three toes.

Behavior

Patrat are very concious and wary regarding its surroundings and are always on guard. If they sense an impending danger, it signals its companions using its tail.

Habitat

Groups of Patrat live on treetops.

A group of Patrat appeared in BW001. Multiple Patrat also appeared in BW002.

Major appearances

Minor appearances

Multiple Patrat made a brief cameo in BW003 with multiple Pidove and Shikijika where they needed help from Ash and his friends.

One appeared to be owned by a Trainer in BW004 where it was seen on the Battle Club computer screen.

Another Patrat made a brief cameo in BW005 in Sanyou City and in BW006 with a Pokémon Trainer in a Pokémon Center.

A Trainer's Patrat made a brief appearance in BW010 on a computer screen in the Current Town Battle Club.

A pair of Patrat's made a small appearance in BW018.

Trivia

Origin

It appears to be based on a prairie dog, chipmunk or meerkat.

Name origin

Patrat is a combination of the words patrol and rat. It also sounds similar to "pack rat", a slang term for some-one who stores a lot of unnecessary items, referring to its possible origin as a chipmunk which are known for storing nuts in their mouth. Its Japanese name is derived from 見 mi, looking, and 木鼠 kinezumi, squirrel.
