Sigilyph (Japanese: シンボラー Symboler) is a dual-type Psychic/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

Biology

Physiology

Sigilyph is a spherical Pokémon, possessing two cyan eyes, with a third on an appendage on top of its head that resembles an Unown I. Sigilyph has four wing-like growths around its body, and two small spikes at its base.

Interestingly, if you put a Sigilyph to sleep, none of its cyan eyes or the Unown appendage actually shut.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Sigilyph possesses psychic powers, which it uses to defend its territory from intruders.

Behavior

A Sigilyph will use its psychic powers to attack anyone who invades its territory. Due to it retaining memories from when it guarded an ancient city, it apparently flies along the same route constantly.

Habitat

In the past, Sigilyph guarded an ancient city. Due to the fact that today they are solely found in a desert region, this may mean that the ancient city used to be located there.

Trivia

Origin

Sigilyph appears to have been inspired by the Nazca lines and Kachina dolls. Like Sigilyph, the Nazca Lines are found in a desert.

Name origin

Sigilyph is a combination of sigil and glyph. Symboler seems to be a combination シンボル symbol and bora, or possibly Ra.
