The Goldenrod Tunnel (Japanese: コガネちかつうろ Kogane Tunnel), known as Goldenrod Underground or Underground Path prior to Generation IV, is a shopping district stretching below Goldenrod City. The shops that are open at any given time depend on the days of the week and, in some cases, the time of day.

Shops
Goldenrod Tunnel contains a barber shop, Herb Shop, and a shop selling valuable items. Each shop has set opening hours; the three shops are never open at the same time.
Goldenrod Department Store basement
The Goldenrod Department Store's basement opens up onto the Goldenrod Tunnel. Although the basement is accessible from the main store early in the game, the back entrance is initially occupied by Team Rocket and cannot be used until later. Petrel hides the Radio Tower Director here while he impersonates him, but will give the Basement Key upon being defeated. Inside, there are Team Rocket Grunts and Silver to fight and a series of switches to turn off in order to navigate the basement completely.
Some rare items can be found in this section of the store's basement.
Photo booth
In HeartGold and SoulSilver, there is a photo booth at the northern end of the tunnel. Trainers can dress up and photography their own Pokémon using Accessories, and a man offers to take photographs of Trainers with their on-hand party. This photo opportunity is unique, as player can themselves dress up in a Team Rocket Grunt costume.
During Team Rocket's takeover of the Goldenrod Radio Tower, the player must wear this uniform as a disguise to enter the Radio Tower. They will not battle in this costume, nor can they leave Goldenrod City while wearing it.
Photo gallery
The saved photo of a dressed up Pokémon from the photo booth is displayed in the photo gallery. In addition, photos from the ten players who have been mixed records with will have their photos displayed here too.
A Hiker appears in the photo gallery who runs an Accessory drawing. The player can enter for $100, and has a chance to win a random Accessory.

In the anime
Ash, Misty and Brock explore the Underground Path (as it was known then) with Whitney in A Goldenrod Opportunity. She takes them through the shopping plaza on their way to the Goldenrod Galleria but manages to get lost several times along the way. The Underground Path is much larger in the anime but staples from the games are seen in this appearance, including both Haircut brothers.
