Jessie's Yanmega (Japanese: ムサシのメガヤンマ Musashi's Megayanma) is the only Pokémon caught by Jessie of Team Rocket during her travels through Sinnoh.
History
Jessie caught Yanmega as a Yanma in The Thief That Keeps On Thieving! after Tyler battled and weakened her. After she captured her, Yanma was sent to Giovanni as their second successful theft. However, he immediately returned her after analyzing her and realizing she wasn't good enough, along with the fact that they already had plenty. Jessie then decided to train Yanma herself—unbeknown to the fact that Yanma already knew AncientPower, Jessie sent her into battle, who ended up quickly evolving into Yanmega.
She was used often by Jessie, sometimes replacing Seviper as her main fighter. So far she has shown herself to be a strong battler, as she destroyed Pikachu's Thunderbolt with her SonicBoom attack as seen in A Lean Mean Team Rocket Machine!.
Yanmega made her Contest debut in Battling the Generation Gap! where she was used in the Celestic Contest Appeal Rounds. However, she failed to get Jessie to the next round.
In A Shield with a Twist, Jessie entered Yanmega in the Majolica Town Contest and won her second Ribbon. In Another One Gabites the Dust!, Jessie entered Yanmega in the Chocovine Town Contest where she passed the appeal round with a dazzling performance, while revealing Yanmega's Ability to be Speed Boost.
In Pursuing a Lofty Goal!, James borrowed Yanmega in order to enter into a PokéRinger competition. Jessie was reluctant as James failed to win the competition with her Dustox before. Like before, James failed to win with Yanmega.
In Dawn of a Royal Day! she was used in the Arrowroot Town Contest appeal round where she created an amazing performance with her AncientPower.
She was also used in the Sinnoh Grand Festival where she helped Jessie get through to the semi-finals.
Following the Team Rocket trio's journey in Sinnoh, Jessie was forced to leave Yanmega at Team Rocket's headquarters as she is not a Pokémon native in the Unova region and would seem suspicious.
Personality and characteristics
Though not much is known about her personality to distinct her from others of her species she is shown to have a habit of landing on people and other Pokemon's heads. She's been shown to land on Jessie, James and Seviper's heads and even Ash, Dawn and Brock's before she was caught by Jessie as a Yanma.

A † shows that the move was used recently, unless all moves fit this case or there are fewer than five known moves. |
Moves improvised
- Haze-SonicBoom - First used in Playing The Performance Encore!, Seviper uses Haze then Yanmega uses SonicBoom. The two moves fuse into a SonicBoom with streaks of smoke.
- Poison-Silver Wind - First used in Playing The Performance Encore!, Yanmega lifts Seviper into the air and Seviper then holds its Poison Tail towards the sky. Yanmega then uses Silver Wind on the tail causing streaks of purple like missiles.
Trivia
- This is Jessie's first capture since she caught her Wurmple in All in a Day's Wurmple, 257 episodes before, during the Advanced Generation series.
- Yanmega is the first Flying-type Jessie captured.
- Yanmega is the only Pokémon of Jessie or James to use her Ability.
- In Where No Togepi Has Gone Before!, it was discovered that Yanmega is female, much to Jessie's apparent surprise. When Togepi used Attract, Yanmega was the only one unaffected while Pikachu, Meowth, Piplup, and Croagunk were.
- Yanmega is the only main characters' Pokémon so far to have fully evolved in the same episode she debuted while being under her Trainer's ownership, as although Ash's Caterpie evolved in the same episode where he was caught, he had already debuted at the end of the episode proceeding the episode where he was caught, and Ash's Primeape evolved before it was later caught in the same episode where it debuted.
