Talk:Jessie's Yanmega
Pre-DP080 Discussion
Why the hell was this created!? --☆ケンジガール 19:59, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Because the preview for DP080 shows Jessie throwing a Poké Ball at an unconscious Yanma. Said Yanma was pulled into the ball. I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 20:06, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- So? That doesn't mean it couldn't of escaped. Or they could of just edited it to look like Jessie threw the ball at Yanma when it was really the kid that did it. We all knew that May's Squirtle was going to evolve into a Wartortle, yet we didn't redirect May's Wartortle to the Pokémon until DP077 aired. Why should this case be any different? --☆ケンジガール 20:15, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- It's a precaution to ensure that people don't look at the preview and go "OMG JESSIE GETZ YAMNA!" and starts making a full-blown Jessie's Yanma page. Turning it into a redirect for the time being is with the intention of warning them against doing so. If it turns out Jessie doesn't catch Yanma, this can be deleted with no objection from me, but as long as the option is present (and supported by the ep preview, no less!), so is the redirect. I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 20:17, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- You know, all you had to do was ask TTEchidna or one of the other sysops to protect Jessie's Yanma so no one could make it. It doesn't matter if you redirect it. There will be n00bs out there who will replace the redirect with the article. Most people probably didn't see the preview yet anyway. --☆ケンジガール 20:20, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, doing that would've made more sense, I suppose. Dunno why it didn't occur to me, actually. I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 20:25, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Well I think this Yanma is likely to be a replacement for Dustox although it shouldn't be made till there is concret proof. Sailor Earth 20:27, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Highly doubtful. From what we know of the plot, the Yanma capturer will be the COTD, not Jessie. Besides, why not let both Jessie and James keep an empty spot for awhile? --Shiningpikablu252 21:15, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
What do you mean, AN empty spot? Jessie and James aren't limited to three Pokémon each. Take Grating Spaces, for instance. In that episode, Jessie's team consisted of Seviper, Wobbuffet, Dustox, and Charizard. Four Pokémon. I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 15:42, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, did this evolution beat the all-time record of Ash's Caterpie as shortest evolution time? --☆ケンジガール 14:19, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, doesn't Ash's Primeape hold that record? It evolved before it was even captured! I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 14:21, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Then it is Ash's Caterpie since Ash already caught an evolved Pokémon, not catching it then having it evolve. Wait, did Caterpie evolve in the same episode?PM102 14:34, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Caterpie, Mankey, and Yanma all evolved in the same episode as their capture. Primeape was captured after evolving, and vice versa for the other two. I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 14:38, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ash didn't own Mankey when it evolved so it doesn't count. --☆ケンジガール 14:39, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Mankey wouldn't count since it evolved before capture. It's like saying Paul owned a Gligar since he had a Gliscor that had to be a Gligar some time before.PM102 14:42, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- No, it's different here. We actually saw Mankey evolve on-screen, whereas we have no idea how long ago that Gligar evolved into Paul's Gliscor. I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 14:46, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

James had a weepinbell that evolved and was released in the same episode. Surely thats got to be the fastest progression of a pokemon owned by any main character TheAlmightyChris 15:24, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Weird
Yanma was Jessie's first capture since Wurmple. Also the episode where she captured Wurmple had a Yanma in it. Foreshadowing maybe...? (you can delete this message if you feel it is uneeded) --☆ケンジガール 22:23, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Not at all since Yanma did not have an evolution at that time.
--HoennMaster 22:18 (CST) May 22, 2008.
Well, actually, we don't know how far in advance they knew about the existance of Yanmega. For all we know, they could have the next five regions all planned out already! The Yanma could very well have been foreshadowing. I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 15:40, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
English voice actor
I bet since it says Yamna in Japanese and Megayamna that they will leave its Japanese voice Livinlarge18 00:27, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Picture
Why was this picture removed? It is way better then the current one.

- We don't change the images based on personal preference. It has led to edit wars in the past. Besides, the original and current picture actually features Jessie. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 18:02, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
I understand, but the article is about Yanmega, and the picture should feature a clearer image of Yanmega, the current picture seems to be focused more on Jessie.
----HoennMaster 18:10, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
I have a picture of it but it wont let me upload it =S Davidaipom 18:33, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
The article isn't about Yanmega; it's about JESSIE's Yanmega. That picture is low quality. And it's better to have a picture of the character and their Pokemon together. -Sketchies 18:48, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
This is about Jessie's Yanmega!? I didn't know...DUH, I figured it was obvious by just saying Yanmega but apparently not. Like I said, the picture should feature more of Yanmega then Jessie. I don't have a problem with Jessie being in there, but the picture should feature Yanmega more then Jessie.
----HoennMaster 02:45, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
I agree with HoennMaster. In the picture with Jessie and Yanmega, Yanmega is all the way at the top and you can't see it real well. That picture is focusing more about Jessie than it is Yanmega. Do we have a picture on Ash's Gligar's page with it on top of Ash? No. We have a picture of Gligar only! Same with 100 other Trainer's Pokémon pages. --☆ケンジガール 03:18, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Then how about instead of a picture of Yanma getting captured. You get a good, high quality picture of Yanmega doing an attack? The picture with Jessie is staying. -Sketchies 03:45, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
That has nothing to do with it. Not to mentions there right, on many pages there is only a picture of the pokémon, so what is the big deal about this page.

why did you get rid of my extention to the article.

- Because it had hundreds of spelling errors and I didn't feel like fixing your mistakes. Write it nicely, with proper capital letters, before you put it back in. I'm sick of people who don't spell things write in the first place and then other users have to fix their mistakes. --ケンジのガール 00:30, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
Pic
I don't like this one, it has poor quality. This onea:Image:Jessie Yanmega 2.jpg I think is better. Who agrees?--KukiTalk 19:24, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- I like the one you've posted, I think it's definitely better quality, but perhaps it too much focused on Jessie? So, not sure. Gastlys mama 22:04, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- I think this is the best pic for Jessie's Yanmega have seen, way better than the cluttered Heart one at the moment and Jessie doesn't seem to take up a substantial amount of room. It is also very good quality. Good Job! :) I hope it gets changed to yours. -- D558 03:59, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
The move
Is it Icy wind in DP102? It does seem like an Ice move to me.-Billy4b2004 04:55, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Dustox similarities
When Jessie caught her Wurmple a begining trainer(May) caught a pokemon of the same species in the same episode which was her first catch. This happen with Yanma aswell. Taylor a beginning trainer caught his first pokemon a Yanma the same episode jessie caught hers. voit
Wobbuffet
"Yanma was the fourth of five Generation II Pokémon to be in the party of a member of the main cast during the Diamond & Pearl series, preceded by Aipom, Sudowoodo, and Gligar and followed by Swinub (fifth of six if one counts Wobbuffet)."
Why would one not count Wobbuffet? Gastlys mama 19:17, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- Because it's been on the team since Johto. The others were all captured in later seasons. — THE TROM — 20:27, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- Surely you'd either only count those in the current series, or count those from all series as long as they're still on the team. So surely it should be third of four, fifth of six including Wobbuffet and Aipom? Gastlys mama 22:06, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- That makes sense. Change what you will; no one owns the page (as much as they'd like to think!). — THE TROM — 22:07, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- Hang on, I just thought of why it may be like that... Was Aipom actually captured in Advance Generation? Or did it just follow? Because I suppose it doesn't really count as being owned if it wasn't captured at the time...Gastlys mama 22:17, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Hold on! Too late... Brock caught Sudowoodo as a Bonsly in AG156!--The Kkllnnator サンタクロース 22:26, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps we should just get rid of this whole "If you count" business altogether. We'd never dream of not counting Pikachu as in Ash's party just because it was caught in the original series! It doesn't really matter when they were caught if you're talking about them being in the party... Gastlys mama 22:33, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
- Very good point, Gastly's mama. Besides, Yanma is in the GenIV dex as of Pt. Whether the anime was intending to follow that is unknown, though... I reckon just remove the whole trivia point altogether. — THE TROM — 04:20, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
The trivia section to this article seems awkward..
That big paragraph doesn't seem like it should be in the trivia section,or atleast not like that. Lovely Rose 02:32, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- It's fine...the picture and the infobox make it look weird...and you spelled awkward wrong...I fixed it. -Sketch 02:36, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Speed Boost
I just want to know when was this confirmed. *tc26* 11:39, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- According to Nick., it was shown in DP114. I watched the episode, but I didn't know if that's true or not. I may have just missed the part or not recall at all. ►Ҝəυzø8 12:12, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
It was in DP114. It was during Jessie's appeal. Member? Yanmega used silver wind and flew around her fast? then the music got dramatic and yanmega turned bright green and got faster Happizelpom 15:00, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Move Debut
Five moves in the episode the pokemon debuted seems like a lot, should/could that be mentioned in the Trivia? If anyone wants to look into it and see if it is a record or a near record they can take the credit since I really don't wanna do the legwork... -- D558 03:56, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- Lt. Surge's Raichu only appeared in one episode, but it still used 6 moves. Although that might not be the record, that is one I remembered from when I was updating to the template about a month back. If I remember right, Yanmega used 4 moves as a Yanma and then learnt AncientPower in a battle, causing it to evolve. Werdnae 04:39, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- It already knew AncientPower before the battle. When Giovanni scanned Yanma's Poké Ball with his computer, one of the attacks it said Yanma knew was AncientPower. Missingno. Master wants YOU! Join the Order of the Glitch! (my talk page) 14:43, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Question
Was yanmega jessie's first Pokemon that evolved from a pokemon that debuted in a previous generation.--TheYanmegalord 21:51, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Number Of Episodes
Could anyone give how many episodes Yanmega appeared since EP080 compared to her Seviper, so we can decide who really is her main battler? I personally think the answer is Yanmega, but the article seems a little iffy. - unsigned comment from Confusion (talk • contribs)
- It's a close one, alright. Seviper has 32 appearances, and Yanmega has 33. One off. ^-^ Also, don't forget to sign your comments using the four ~'s. ^_^ Littlmiget123 19:40, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you! I guess we should just say that their equally her main pokemon. Confusion 19:53, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
Personality?
I think we could add this for her personality. Yanmega is clearly a very affectionate Pokemon as she is constantly landing on Jessie's head to hug her, and in Where No Togepi Has Gone Before! Yanmega was blushing when Jessie found out it was a girl.it also never hesitates to follow Jessie's commands even when she asked it to fire attacks at her.--Pokemonboy3000 (talk) 18:15, 17 August 2013 (UTC)
Is it worth noting...
...that both Yanmega and Dustox were caught in the same episode that another Pokemon of their species was caught by a different character? (Wurmple was also caught by May, Yanma was also caught by Tyler) It's obviously a coincidence, but I think it's a pretty weird one, since they are both female bug-types owned by Jessie, and Yanmega is Dustox's "replacement". Nutter Butter (talk) 16:32, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
- Eh, that's toeing the line of comparison-based trivia, something we've been moving away from in recent years. I would say no. --Pokemaster97 20:30, 24 March 2016 (UTC)
