Mega Evolution

Mega Evolution (Japanese: メガシンカ Mega Evolution) is a new transformation found only in the Kalos region. Mega Evolutions are identified by having "Mega" in front of their name.
In order to undergo a Mega Evolution, the Pokémon must be holding the applicable Mega Stone. An item containing a Key Stone must be used to resonate with the Mega Stone held by their Pokémon to trigger Mega Evolution; Calem and Serena get the Mega Ring, while Korrina uses the Mega Glove, Diantha uses the Mega Charm, and Lysandre uses an unidentified item resembling the Mega Ring. Mega Evolution can only occur in battle and disappears after the battle is over or the Mega-Evolved Pokémon faints. Each player may only Mega Evolve one Pokémon per battle, and cannot Mega Evolve a Pokémon again during that battle even if it is knocked out while Mega Evolved.
Korrina, the Gym Leader of Shalour City, is said to know secrets about Mega Evolution. The Tower of Mastery is also related to Mega Evolution. The first Pokémon said to have been Mega Evolved was a Lucario. Professor Sycamore theorizes that even with the Mega Stone and the respective item to resonate with the stone, Mega Evolution cannot be achieved if there is not a strong bond between Trainer and Pokémon.
Effects
A Mega-Evolved Pokémon has different base stats (with exception of HP) and can have a different Ability and type from its non-Mega Evolved form. Except for Mega Alakazam (which is exactly 90 points higher than that of its base form), every Mega-Evolved Pokémon's base stat total is exactly 100 points higher than that of its base form.
