Japanese

Is it necessary to have "Jimu Rīdā" in there when that's just the Japanese pronunciation of "Gym Leader" to begin with? --BJG

Of course it is. JAPANESE IS GOOD AND ENGLISH IS BAD. Jimu Riidaa is obviously a different phrase than Gym Leader, and NoA CHANGED IT AND BASTARDISED IT when they translated the games! Just like Kurisutaru and Crystal are also DIFFERENT WORDS and so are Reddo/Red, and so forth. --Ketsuban

Assuming you were kidding, Ketsuban, I changed the Japanese to "Gym Leader"... also I got rid of some of the info at the beginning that was already covered under Gym AND Badge. If anyone thought it was also necessary here, feel free to revert back. Also, regarding this page, do we need to have the USE of the Badge if that's already covered under Badge? Also, shouldn't all the Badges be linked to the Badge page? --Greengiant 01:49, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I agree with linking the badges to the Badge page. surskitty 21:03, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I thought the Badge page was mostly there so that individual illustrations of each badge would have a place to go. - Zeta

Leader name and badge change

i changed Wake and Candice's stuff because of this SinnohGymLeaders.bmp.jpg
--- unsigned comment from DSDark (talkcontribs)

Not too surprised that they're calling him Wake. After all, his full Japanese name (Maximum Maxi) was shortened to just Maxi. --PAK Man 14:54, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Jasmine comment

An NPC in the Lighthouse in G/S/C mentions that Jasmine used to train Rock-type Pokémon. Her badge's name (Mineral) also sounds a little like a Rock-type badge. Therefore, hasn't every region technically had a Rock-type gym at some point?--Nebula 22:55, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Unless there is a source that gives some of the Olivine Gym's history, we don't know for sure if it was ever for Rock types. --FabuVinny T-C-S 23:50, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
NPCS confirm that Jasmine did used to train Rock types as a Gym leader. IIMarckus 18:31, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, there's a bloke (I think he's a sailor) in the lighthouse. He says he returned from his travels to Olivine and was shocked to find that the Gym Leader had change the type she specialised in. Hope this helps. Flicky1991 19:52, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Trivia, Trivia, and MORE Trivia

So last night I was really bored and decided to see any patterns in the Gym Leaders, along with some awkward stuff too..

  • There are *usually* 4 females, and 4 males, however Johto breaks this rule, with 3 girls and 5 males. Unless Bugsy is a girl.
  • Hoenn, has 4 Special-typed gyms, and 4 Physical-typed gyms. Hell, the gender is split evenly along Special and Physical, with 2 females and 2 males specializing in Special-type, and vice versa. Otherwise, the amount of Special-based and Physical-based are uneven.
  • There was something else, but I can't remember it at this moment.

..yeah, I was bored alright. Tina 05:16, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Usually 4/4? No... Kanto's 5/3 in I/III. Johto's 5/3. Hoenn's got 5/4 in both RS and E. Sinnoh's 4/4. Neo Kanto's 4/4. Though Hoenn's Physical/Special split is correct. TTEchidnaGSDS! 06:44, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
  • The face of Bugsy is truly male, not female. That's why Johto have 4 males gym leaders and 4 females gym leaders. Joannes
Bugsy being male makes it 5/3, not 4/4. God, why can no one count... or spell. TTEchidnaGSDS! 14:01, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

good trivia, I think

All the kanto gym types, before blue and with the exception of saffron's gym, are followed by a gym type with an advantage to them. Also all the johto gym types, with the exception of goldenrod's gym, precede a type they have an advantage against. Kanjo 18:20, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

See, whenever there's an "exception" in something like this, it makes it a lot weaker. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 18:36, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Normal-types are immune to ghosts, so that might not really be an exception. I think this is very interesting, since I'd never noticed that pattern before. IIMarckus 18:37, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Redundancy

Why is there a separate list for the Diamond/Pearl and Platinum gym leaders? Redstar 20:28, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

The order changed in Pt.--MisterE13 20:32, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Orders can't change. Most of the time you either go down a set path, or you have some freedom in going to towns in what order you like. Now, unless the path was set and they rearranged the landscape to put one city before another, I find it highly unlikely that the "order was changed". Redstar 20:36, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
It was changed. You must fight Fantina in order to go further than Hearthome City, or else you're blocked in. The order is changed and set. --ケンジガール 20:45, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
That's not reason enough for me. Removed. Redstar 20:48, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry but you do not have the authority to do that. Try a stunt like that again and you're blocked. --ケンジガール 20:59, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
How do I "not have the authority"? This is a Wikipedia, and is freely edited by its users... I'm not some guest, or low-level, never-edits user. I feel that that information is redundant, and should be removed. You cannot block me for doing something that is not in any way vandalism, or addition of non-notable, or un-verified information. Redstar 21:03, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
I am an admin and I do not want this changed. You are going against an admin decision and that's what you can get blocked for. BTW, this is verified information. Why don't you try playing Platinum before you call something un-verified. What you were putting was not true. Fantina is not the fifth Gym Leader fought in Platinum. Crasher Wake is. --ケンジガール 21:10, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
I don't care if you are an admin. This is a freely-edited Wiki, and you can't have the articles exactly as you like them; they have to be encyclopedic.
I never said that that was unverified information. If you had read what I said clearly, you'd know that I was using that as an example to block someone; not as to the information in this article.
Finally, in Red/Blue/Yellow, you could fight Erika or Sabrina in any order. Heck, you could outright skip some gym leaders... So how were the lists for those gym leaders compiled in that specific order? We might as well make lists of every conceivable order, right? This article is about the gym leaders, not the order of said leaders. Including the same leaders twice is nothing but redundant, and clogs space. 21:16, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Besides, you just called this wiki a Wikipedia. Bulbapedia's license and most of its practices are different from that of Wikipedia. Maybe if you read over our manual of style and Wikipedia's manual of style, you'll see just how vastly different Bulbapedia is...--Shiningpikablu252 21:17, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Your point being? I have read the manuals, and I see nothing on Bulba's that suggests this Wiki is not freely edited. Redstar 21:21, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
If we let every user do what ever the hell they wanted to do then this place would be a mess. Admins need to take charge at times. It's not entirely free as you say. --ケンジガール 21:23, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Umm... You make me out to be an anarchist. I fully realize that admins are needed to police the edits and make sure nothing extreme is done. And by extreme I mean what I said earlier: outright vandalism, and non-notable or un-verified fancruft/rumours. And edit pertaining to the article itself, and in no way harming, only benefiting it, is clearly outside the range of an admin's stated purpose, and falls only into your personal opinion. As an admin, you cannot have a personal opinion that gets in the way of intelligent editing. Redstar 21:26, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
The point is you did not ask proper permission or talked it out on the talk page. You just went ahead and removed it. Anyway, were working on a solution so both parties will be happy. --ケンジガール 21:29, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
I apologize for not going through the proper channels. Like so many other people on the Internet, I was "in a bad mood". Lame excuse, but at least I've gone through it quick enough that we can discuss this right. The article can remain the same if you like, though I feel it's redundant, but a notice explaining the redundancy would be a fair compromise. Redstar 21:32, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Attention all

Gym Leaders all go in badge case order as of the most recent game they appear in. Since that order doesn't change between games (RGBYFRLG all use the same one, that is), that'll be our standard. Especially considering the ability for you to do badges out of order in some games (Kanto especially). TTEchidna 21:34, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Badge case order in Platinum is still Maylene-Wake-Fantina for those of you who don't feel like checking, so I guess the above argument could have been diverted x.x ~ solaris 21:39, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Trust me, we really don't want to go disputing the order of gym leaders, especially in the case of Kanto in Generation I if we bring Pokémon Stadium 2's Color Case exploit into things...--Shiningpikablu252 21:43, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

HG/SS Kanto Gym Leaders

Do the Kanto Gym Leaders in HG/SS have VS sprites like the Johto ones? --Shiny Noctowl 20:46, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Don't know but since there details coming in it is better to wait a few days and see so just be patient. -Tyler53841 20:50, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
The answer is yes. Blaine's in particular is amusing, because he does a peace sign.--Ryuutakeshi 23:15, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Someone should upload them, then. --Shiny Noctowl 03:03, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
Already have. MaverickNate 03:04, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Interchangeable Sprites and VS Sprites

Do you think we can make it so that the sprites will change from the VS sprites to the regular sprites every so often? It seems kinda weird that only the GenIII ones won't have the VS sprites while everyting else will. --ケンジガール 03:06, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Yeah felt the same way of roaming the images and finding that not all Gym Leaders are going to get headshots so I will support your proposal. -Tyler53841 03:08, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
It's a very good idea! I support it also. -- RikkiKitsune 03:10, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Johto Gym Leader new Sugimori art

Why do the first four have it but the last four still have the artwork from Gen II? --Shiny Noctowl 20:46, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

'Cause the others haven't been uploaded yet.--Dark ICE (User:Cold)(page, talk) 20:51, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Do you know where whoever uploaded the first four got them from so I can upload the rest? --Shiny Noctowl 21:16, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
They're on the official Japaneses website. So far, only the first four have been revealed. --Mr.lol 21:20, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Whoever put up the rest of the Johto gym leader artwork, good job. Now we need the new Kanto gym leader artwork.--Black Artist 20:48, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Indigo League..

Why is it that we use the small first generation art, instead of the full sized ones? Lovely Rose 01:37, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

On this page we are using their ingame sprites, not their official art. —darklordtrom 01:44, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
I meant in their own pages. Lovely Rose 01:45, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
Anyway, the ones you link to are too small--Black Artist 02:24, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
I have larger ones on my PC, but they have some sort of black background around them and I don't have Photoshop. Lovely Rose 02:30, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Still more trivia.

Picknicker Liz just phoned to mention that Gym Leader Whitney was chosen by the League shortly after becoming a trainer. I guess that means they are using a talent scout system of some kind. *shrug* --PLA 07:59, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

I can confirm that. I'll do something with it on some article... —darklordtrom 04:35, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Pryce

In this article, it puts Pryce as the 7th gym leader. I battled him before Chuck or Jasmine-because I hadn't even gotten to their respective cities yet. There was a guy in front of the door, but he disappeared after the souveneir shop thing. Pryces article said that he couldn't be battled until you defeat Team Rocket in their headquarters, but now i'm confused as to whether it meant the thing i did, or another event later in the game. And no, i have never used an external device or, to the best of my knowledge, any glitches. Flyingtypefan 08:17, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Pryce is meant to be the seventh Gym Leader, but you can defeat most of them in any order. For example, in Kanto you can skip Lt. Surge and Sabrina until almost just before taking on the Viridian Gym if you so desire. —darklordtrom 08:56, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Oh. I thought the table might have been out of order or something. Thanks. Flyingtypefan 22:40, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

In HG/SS, you can battle Chuck, Jasmine, and Pryce in any order you choose. Due to the fact that the road splits after Morty, you can battle any of the three in any order you want. I personally battled Jasmine before Chuck. It all depends on where you want to go. If you are not sure which way to go, look at the Pokegear and the strategy guide if you have it. If there is a Pokemon you want, (because you might still be building your party to how you want it) then go the path that leads you there the quickest. In Kanto, I went the route suggested and beat 4 Gyms in one day and 3 the next. It was all based on my thought process at the time. It is like so many things in Pokemon, it is all based on decision. To answer your question, the souveneir shop thing is supposed to happen before Pryce. You did the right thing. Pokemon26 18:24, 21 July 2010.

Could we add

shouldn't we add aloe and dento here as well as the isshu region?Badwolf1234 05:56, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
I think their waiting for all the gym leaders to be announced, so probably won't be added until the games are released. --S2daam 11:14, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Should we?

Shouldn't we add the the lower template to the page? It is a trainer class, after all. It only seems right that we do. ~ Master of Illusion: Z User page 13:24, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Isshu Gym Leaders

An image with the new gym leaders popped up Vienna Waltz 20:17, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

And accordingly, users have put them in their userspaces. --Psyライダー 20:20, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
And why is the Icicle badge under the Isshu gym leader template?Patrickmck 00:30, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
It's called the Icicle Badge, and because of the way the template works (you put the name of the badge and the image and name show up on the page) Sinnoh's Icicle Badge is there. God, it's like GameFreak is trying to force name-changes on every Ice badge or something...—Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 05:19, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Apparently Iris is only the Souryuu City gym leader in one version of the game, in the other the leader is a man called Shaga Vienna Waltz 08:15, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it is confirmed on the game's books. Iris is the Gym Leader of White Version, and Shaga (?) is the Gym Leader of Black Version. Masatoshi: Gen. II>All. Discuss. 19:28, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Isshu leaders' etymology

Leaving this here until actual pages are made.

  • Dent/Pod/Corn: Dent corn and pod corn
  • Aloe: Aloe
  • Kamitsure: Japanese for chamomile
  • Yacón: Yacón.
  • Fūro: Japanese for geranium. Fūrō (風浪) means "wind and waves".
  • Hachiku: Japanese for "breaking bamboo" (破竹)
  • Iris: Iris

Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 05:28, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

And Shaga (著莪), Japanese Iris. For gyms:
  • Sanyō: Most likely to be from 三曜模様. 三 san (three) and possibly 陽/葉/洋 you (sun/leaf/ocean) or 様 you (manner)you (luminary).
  • Shippō: From 七宝模様, 七宝 means "seven treasures" or "cloisonne"
  • Hiun: From 飛雲文, 飛雲 means "flying cloud" (or 非運 "misfortune")
  • Raimon: 雷門, literally "thunder gate" From 雷文 raimon (thunder pattern).
  • Hodomoe: From 帆巴文様. 帆巴 hodomoe literally means "sail swirl". 巴 tomoe also means "comma-shaped design". Contains 土 do, earth.
  • Fukiyose: From 吹寄せ模様 "drifting pattern". 吹き寄せ means "medley". Contains 吹, "blow".
  • Sekka: From 雪華模様 "snowflake pattern". Can be read as 雪花, "snowflakes".
  • Sōryū: 蒼竜, "Azure dragon". From 双竜文 "double dragon pattern".
Might as well add this:
  • Kanoko: From 鹿の子模様, "fawn dapple pattern".
  • Karakusa: From 唐草模様, "arabesque".
  • Kanawa: From 金輪, "metal ring/hoop".
  • Kagome: From 籠目, "woven-bamboo pattern".
  • Sazanami: From 漣/小波/細波, ripple.

Icicle Badge

I know because of their same English and Japanese names, the respective 7th badges for Sinnoh and Isshu have the same file picture on the page. Just seems like a minor problem, but I am a perfectionist. Omnis 10:34, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Lt. Surge

I'm pretty sure this is a mistake, but when does Surge appear at MooMoo Farm? --HoennMaster 17:01, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Merger discussions

1

Since it's a worthless stub, I suggest merging it with Gym Leader. Would it be a good move? Just make sure to put other languages section in Gym Leader article if it's decided to merge the page. --Maxim 12:24, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

Maybe. There is a discussion in the forums about it.--Clarky13 12:27, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
No. This article is about the trainer class, not the characters. Yes, they are similar, but they remain quite different. It just needs improvement. — THE TROM — 10:14, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
Wait, huh? How are the 'Leader' trainer class and the 'Gym Leader' position any different? They both refer to the same thing... Anyway, I suggest a merge. Do we have to vote or something, or are we just discussing for now? Memo326 00:11, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
This article should NOT be merged. It specifically provides information regarding the Gym Leaders in the Pokémon games. The article Gym Leader heavily references the Anime. AUXIA 02:09, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Well, they're still the same subject. We are not proposing a mere deletion of this page, but a merging to the Gym Leader one, so if you feel that this one addresses the games and the other the anime, if they became merged, the 'Gym Leader' page would talk about Gym Leaders in the games and anime (which happen to be the same thing)... (the Gym Leaders in both mediums, not the mediums themselves, I mean.)Memo326 04:39, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Yes, they are technically the same thing. But if the decision is made to merge the articles, it might be a good idea to have one section of the article dedicated to the Anime and another to the games. Furthermore, if they are merged, I think a link to the Gym Leader article should remain in the list of Trainer Classes, as they are, technically, a separate class. AUXIA (talk) 23:03, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Heavily references the anime? Having a section on the Orange Islands is not "heavily references". TTEchidna 23:25, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

As stated above: MERGE ---LūgīāRōcks (Tālk δ Ēdīts) 01:33, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
No merge. It is actually a trainer class. Then our little trainer class box at the bottom of the page has a link to an actual trainer class that was merged to Gym Leader because everyone thought they were the same. They aren't so deal with it. (No offense). Find a way to include the fact that the Trainer Class was actually Leader not Gym Leader, then go ahead. If not, then don't.--Smartkidhen (So I saw this sign that said Red VelvetTeam Galatic has plans!) 01:51, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
They aren't "the same" in the English versions because of the character limit. In Japanese, it's the same, and it was intended to be the same in English, undoubtedly. Now, I'm either for us moving everything to X (Trainer class) [because that's how we do it with other things, we don't have Psychic and Psychic, Double Team and Double Team, and not Leader and Fire Blast or merging this. TTEchidna 19:07, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Merging makes sense. The two articles are about the same thing, regardless of what media they describe. We don't have seperate articles on Gyms in the anime and games. And the fact that it describes a specific Trainer class is also a non-issue. Mysticalman redirects to Eusine, after all. Couldn't the Gym Leader page have information about the Trainer class as well? --AndyPKMN 20:31, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

This has been tagged since early 2009 at the latest. There are no logical arguments against merging, really. So I'll just go ahead and merge, like I did the Team Rocket Grunts. Memo326 21:47, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Anime Gym Leaders

For the Anime pages we have on gym leaders, specifically, Iris, Misty, Cilan, and Brock, I've notices that there are no disambiguation pages or even notice. Since we have such pages for other game characters who are major characters in the Anime (May and Dawn for example) shouldn't we have them for the gym leaders as well? --Ggb81 01:07, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

The idea is that the articles themselves are disambiguation pages in a way. They cover games, manga, TCG, then have a main article link in the anime section to that character's role in the anime. --SnorlaxMonster 15:26, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

With the news from the latest Coro Coro having come through, is it worth starting preliminary pages and listings for Shizui and Homika, or should we wait until further information becomes available? Exterminieren 19:46, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Exterminieren

The admins decided until further information is revealed, we'll leave them unlisted for now (thus the page protection). --Spriteit 06:08, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Drake a Gym Leader?

I saw that Drake from the orange islands is in this section and I'm wondering if he really counts as a Gym Leader. He doesn't give away a badge, just a trophy. I think that would make him more of a champion or maybe something like a battle frontier brain. Or did they mention some where in the anime that he is indeed a Gym leader? --Coolcatkim22 18:53, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

  • That's a good question, my guess is that since he isn't considered a champion, but a "Leader", gym leader was the closest group to put him in. But I don't fully know. ---NateVirus(Talk|Contributions) 19:10, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Unova layout

I really don't like the combined table. I find it very confusing (especially for the first Gym where BW has 3 leaders and B2W2 has 1). I preferred separate tables. --SnorlaxMonster 14:19, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Why vs sprites?

Why using vs sprites? The Hoenn leaders don't have them at the moment and if I get permission I'll change it in a minute. We can revert later when the Hoenn leaders get their versus sprites! Nickvang (talk) 16:56, 18 July 2012 (UTC) From who should I actually get permission? I'll just change it and it can be reverted any time. Nickvang (talk) 17:03, 18 July 2012 (UTC) Done, but someone animated Cheren and Elesa's '.png' sprites in the archives. Could anybody change that? Nickvang (talk) 17:29, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

I think it's actually good this way. Battle sprites are the most up-to-date and not every character that gets a battle sprite gets a vs sprite. If anyone still doesn't agree, it can be changed any time.
I agree with it. It looks nicer because Hoenn didn't get VS Sprites (which might change if we get RS Remakes, but whatever). Torpoleon (talk) 22:01, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
I do not. Although I admit it is rather strange with Hoenn being the odd region out...the VS sprites look much nicer and give the page a more professional and polished look that I really enjoy. I would rather stay with the VS sprites, however IF (big IF) a consensus is reached to use the sprites, I say we should use the Generation V sprites for all and not the just the Unova and Hoenn leaders. I think we should also get an admin's opinion on this since IIRC this was there decision to begin with.- unsigned comment from HoennMaster (talkcontribs)
I disagree with this move. The VS sprites looks cleaner and clearer than the normal sprites. Yes, it looks weird as Hoenn Gym leaders don't have VS Sprites, but that's really not an issue considering they may get VS sprites in the future *is so not talking about R/S remakes*.--ForceFire 02:26, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
I prefer VS sprites as well. As for Hoenn, I would give them all their Gen V sprites, even Walace; we use Giovanni and Koga's HGSS VS sprites. --SnorlaxMonster 07:55, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
So then we just use VS sprites and if a character doesn't have one we use the newest possible battle sprite, right? Nickvang (talk) 08:41, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Yes.--ForceFire 08:55, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Wallace's sprite.

I changed all vs sprites to motionless battle sprites, but Wallace is now the only one with a generation III sprite. It could be changed to his generation V sprite, but that is a sprite of him with a cape, so it's a sprite of 'champion Wallace' and not 'gym leader Wallace'. So should we move with the times or comply with the gym leader sprites? Nickvang (talk) 17:56, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

I think we should use the older one for now and if there are RS Remakes, maybe his Gym Leader sprite will get an upgrade and we can use that. Torpoleon (talk) 22:02, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
I agree, but even if there come RS remakes, I wonder if Wallace will be a Gym Leader, as Eusine (for exemple) is included in HGSS while he originally only appeared in Crystal. And by the way, it is story-wise almost inpossible, as Red/Leaf's and Brendan/May's journeys began at the same time, but Hilbert/hilda's at least 3 years later and Kyouhei/Mei journey at least 5 years later, story-wise. - unsigned comment from Nickvang (talkcontribs)
For first, it's never said that BW is set 3 years later. Out of three time skips, only two are known (3 years between Generation I/III and II/IV, plus another 2 between BW and B2W2)... and they can as well instead of remaking RS, make Hoenn games set in other period of time. They totally obliterated the "sequence" with sequels. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 12:22, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Cheren's Parent(s)?

It says that Cheren has parents that are able to be encountered in-game. Is this a mistake, and if not, who is/are they? - unsigned comment from Fudgedara (talkcontribs)

Cheren's home in Nuvema town has both of his parents inside. They can be encountered in BW1 before he became gym leader and in BW2 after the fact. Chicobo329 (talk) 21:35, 4 November 2012 (UTC)

Cheren's "usual partners"?

Cheren mention to Dr. Juniper that being a gym leader would be easier if he has his "usual partners" via the x-transceiver conference call after the player beat the first gym. In addition, Cheren have a Cinccino and an under-leveled Stoutland while helping the player with Team Plasmas, for which he does not use any Minccino in the gym battle challenge (in challenge mode as well). So, does that mean that gym leaders have to use an official set of pokemon against challengers? Gspbeetle (talk) 11:12, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

New Gen VI Gym Leaders

I was browsing PokeWiki to touch up on my far-from-immaculate German skills, and I came across the Gym Leader page, noticing that they have information that Bulbapedia doesn't. Would someone with the proper knowledge of editing Wiki pages add this stuff in? http://www.pokewiki.de/Arenaleiter#Kalos q~Bisumito~p 16:38, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

Previous Gym Leaders

Is there any way we can incorporate a section for previous Leaders (of course, indicating that some are anime-exclusive, etc.)? An example would be Aaron, who was formerly a Sinnoh Gym Leader before becoming an Elite Four member. We can also add characters that were offered a position, such as Riley. ht14 02:40, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

Reviving the question again. ht14 16:51, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

New leaders...

Could someone please add Grant, Clemont and Koruni to the Kalos section? TheOriginalOne 21:57, 8 August 2013 (UTC)~

Koruni is Korrina and is from Shalour City... TheOriginalOne 15:06, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
It has been updated. --Pokemaster97 15:21, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

Kalos Leader VS Sprites

Hasn't the Pokemon website already showed us what the VS screen will look like for Grant, Clemont and Korrina. Couldn't you use these for their sprites. (Again I'm not complaining, just an idea). --Ziggyangelo88 (talk) 08:38, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Gym Leader VS Sprites

Since we now have the Pokemon World Tournament in Driftveil City, we have new, updated VS sprites for all of the gym leaders, new and old. couldn't you use these for the pictures instead of the VS sprites from their own games. Because the Hoenn pictures aren't really battle sprites, they're just the trainer sprites. - unsigned comment from Ziggyangelo88 (talkcontribs)

Who told you there are VS sprites in PWT? As far as I know, they're not used there... are they? Marked +-+-+ (talk) 15:44, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
PWT just zooms in on the Trainer's sprite. They're not really VS sprites. --SnorlaxMonster 15:48, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Minor Edit

Since this page seems to be protected from editing, I should note that there is an incorrect fact in the Gym Trainers section. It states as an example that Misty's gym employs Tubers and Swimmers. However, Misty's gym never has any Tubers in it. I was intending to replace Tubers with Sailors, as she has two in Gen IV only. Could anyone with the proper permissions make such an edit to the page? Pokemon Origins

It seems that the anime special Pokemon Origins explains why, despite the fact that most trainers would tackle the gyms in a different order due to where they live, the Gym Leaders get more difficult in the order you fight them. They actually have different sets of Pokemon that they fight trainers with depending on how many Badges the trainer has obtained.Zyborg (talk) 05:32, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

something i noticed

So twice in the anime, it is mentioned that the (at least kanto) league rules dictate gym leaders must accept every challenge. Which has since been skewered. In Unova for example, Clay didn't accept Ash's challenge until he brought him a bag of revival herbs. Second off, in Pokemon origins, Giovanni, referring to Green said "I decided to go ahead and accept that boy's challenge" implying that he didn't have to, despite it being established years earlier that, well, you know. Lastly, in the latest anime series, Clemont originally programmed his robot with a requirement of trainers having obtained a certain amount of gym badges to challenge his gym. Which kind of negates the whole thing.

This sounds weird, but the real reason I'm asking this is....i made what i call "Pokemon desktops", basically put, making my computer background whatever region's map and adding folders to represent the locations for everything. Then from there i put everything in (tall grass folders in routes, which themselves contain "wild Pokemon", towns containing the pokecenters, marts and gyms) essentially recreating a pokemon region on a computer. But about the gym leaders, whenever i have a character battle a gym, there are rare times when i feel it's little more then redundant because the trainer had challenged that gym and lost like two or three times. But then i keep hearing Brock's "as the gym leader i have to accept every challenge" quote. I'm just stuck on that. Especially with all of the above information being taken into account.

But above that i feel it's an interesting point. I ramble too much.--Benayla (talk) 18:59, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

Cerulean

With the novelization's Three Strike rule applying to Gym Leaders, what about the Cerulean Gym? Which according to Daisy lost three times in a row.--Benayla (talk) 13:11, 17 December 2015 (UTC)

Vacate their position

Shouldn't Brycen be added to the mentioning of Gym Leader's who vacate their position?--Benayla (talk) 20:26, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
