The Pokémon franchise arrived in Iceland in 2000, with the broadcast of EP001.
Pokémon anime
Pokémon started airing in 2000. Only the first 54 episodes of the first season aired due to the lack of popularity in Iceland. The first five movies were also dubbed. The first movie was released on July 21, 2000 and the second movie was released later that year on December 26, 2000. The third movie was released on May 11, 2001 before being made available on DVD. The fourth movie was released on October 17, 2003 and the fifth movie on September 24, 2004.
In Iceland, the anime is available on Netflix.
Dubbing
The Icelandic dub of Pokémon is based on the English dubs by 4Kids Entertainment.
The dubbing of the fifth movie was made by Studio Syrland.
