Elaine (Japanese: アユミ Ayumi) is the female player character in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!. Her male counterpart is Chase, and is analogous to Red as he appears in Generation I and their remakes, FireRed and LeafGreen, along with Leaf as she appears in the latter two games.
In the games
Elaine is a young girl from Pallet Town. Her adventure begins one day when Professor Oak calls her and her friend Trace to his lab for a starter Pokémon. Elaine picks a PikachuP or EeveeE, while Trace picks the opposite Pokémon. Oak also gives them each a Pokédex with which to record data on all known Pokémon in the Kanto region to fulfill Oak's dream of creating a full guide on all of the Pokémon in Kanto.
From here, Elaine and Trace journey across Kanto, collecting Pokémon to build up their teams, and defeating each of the Gym Leaders in turn. During their journey, they also have multiple encounters with Blue, another Trainer from Pallet Town who went on his own journey years earlier.
While traversing through Mt. Moon, Elaine has her first encounter a criminal organization called Team Rocket, which uses Pokémon for their own gain and profit. In addition to the organization's leader, Giovanni, Elaine also has multiple run-ins with the Team Rocket Admin Archer and the Team Rocket trio of Jessie, James, and Meowth. Occasionally receiving assistance from Trace, Elaine thwarts all of Team Rocket's scheme, most notably their takeover of the Silph Co. in Saffron City. Finally, when Elaine challenges the Viridian Gym for her final Badge, she finds out that Giovanni is actually the final Gym Leader. After being defeated for one last time, Giovanni gives Elaine the Earth Badge and disbands Team Rocket in order to focus on bettering himself as a Trainer.
After going through Victory Road, Elaine arrives at the Pokémon League at Indigo Plateau, where she confronts and defeats the Elite Four. Upon being defeated, Elite Four Lance reveals that Trace managed to defeat the Elite Four before her and become the Champion first. Elaine and Trace battle for one last time, with Elaine defeating him and making her the new Champion.
After becoming Champion, Elaine travels to the Cerulean Cave to catch the mysterious Pokémon Mewtwo, encounters an equally mysterious girl called Green, learns of Archer's plan to resurrect Team Rocket someday, and challenges the 145 Master Trainers who have appeared around Kanto. Once she has defeated six Master Trainers, Elaine challenges another previous Pallet Town Champion, the silent Trainer Red, to a battle at Indigo Plateau.
If Elaine is not selected as the main character, she appears to assist the player when they use Support Play, known only as a Support Trainer. Her appearance mirrors Chase's current appearance.
