Thousand Waves (Japanese: サウザンウェーブ Thousand Waves) is a damage-dealing Ground-type move introduced in Generation VI. It was not legitimately available until Generation VII. It is one of the signature moves of Zygarde.
Effect
Thousand Waves inflicts damage and prevents foes from fleeing or switching out as long as the user remains in battle. Ghost-type Pokémon cannot be trapped by this move.
If a Pokémon with Sheer Force uses Thousand Waves (via Mimic, or switching Abilities), it will not gain a damage bonus or have its secondary effect removed.
Generation VIII
Pokémon Sword and Shield
In Versions 1.0 to 1.2.1 of Pokémon Sword and Shield, Thousand Waves could not be selected in a battle. Starting with Version 1.3.0, it is usable and functions the same as it did in the previous generation.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Thousand Waves cannot be selected in a battle.
