Release information
This card was included as a Regular card, a Full Art card, and as a Secret Rainbow Rare in the Rebel Clash expansion, first released in the Japanese Rebellion Crash expansion, each featuring Giovanni with artwork by nagimiso. The Regular print was reprinted in the Japanese Shiny Star V subset.
A new print featuring Lysandre with artwork by Ryuta Fuse was included in the Shining Fates expansion, first released in the Japanese Venusaur & Blastoise VMAX Starter Sets. In Japan, a Non Holofoil version of the Giovanni Regular print was available in the Single Strike & Rapid Strike Premium Trainer Boxes, Sword & Shield Family Pokémon Card Game set, and Zacian & Zamazenta vs Eternatus Special Deck Set. Holofoil versions of the Lysandre print were included in the V Battle Deck—Venusaur vs. Blastoise and in both of the Japanese High-Class Decks. The Lysandre print was reprinted, alongside a Full Art Secret card with artwork by NC Empire, in the Japanese VMAX Climax subset.
A new print featuring Cyrus with artwork by GIDORA was included in the Japanese Start Deck 100 and could be obtained in Non Holofoil and Mirror Holofoil versions. Holofoil and Non Holofoil Cyrus prints were also released in the Japanese Star Birth expansion and VSTAR Premium Trainer Box, respectively. The Holofoil print was later included in the Brilliant Stars expansion and concurrent V Battle Deck—Lycanroc vs. Corviknight. In Japan, Non Holofoil Cyrus prints were reprinted in both VSTAR Starter Sets and the Premium Trainer Box ex; Mirror Holofoil prints were reprinted in the Start Deck 100 CoroCoro Comic Version, in both of the VSTAR & VMAX High-Class Decks, and in the Charizard VSTAR vs Rayquaza VMAX Special Deck Set. The Full Art Lysandre print was later included in the Lost Origin expansion. The Cyrus Regular print was reprinted, alongside a Cyrus Full Art print with artwork by Mitsuhiro Arita, in the Japanese VSTAR Universe subset. The Cyrus Full Art print was later released as a SWSH Black Star Promo in the Cyrus Premium Tournament Collection from March 24, 2023.[1]
Artwork featuring Ghetsis was included as a Regular card, a Full Art Secret card, and a Special Illustration Rare in the Japanese Triplet Beat subset. The Regular print features artwork by NC Empire, the Full Art print features artwork by Hideki Ishikawa, while the Special Illustration Rare print features artwork by hncl.

Trivia
- This card's effect is identical to Lysandre. As such, it was ruled that Lysandre and Boss's Orders could not be included in the same deck.
- Similarly to Professor's Research, Boss's Orders was named specifically to prevent the need for future rulings such as this for subsequent prints featuring different villainous team leaders. The characters' names are printed in the upper right corner.
