The Dragon type (Japanese: ドラゴン Dragon) is one of the eleven TCG types. It is represented by the color gold and symbolized by a serpentine figure.
The Dragon type contains most Dragon-type Pokémon found in the main series video games. For example, Salamence, Rayquaza, and Haxorus are Dragon types in the TCG. Prior to Dragons Exalted (but Dragon Selection in Japan), the Dragon type was represented by the Colorless type.
Unlike all other types, other than Colorless, there is no Dragon type Basic Energy card, and no Pokémon can use a Dragon-type energy in its Attack. Dragon-type cards were absent from Sword & Shield until Evolving Skies, when they were reworked to have no Weakness or Resistance. Sword & Shield Series Dragon-type Pokémon cards feature claw marks in the upper-right corner and the Dragon-type symbol in the center of the card (the latter only for non-Pokémon V and non-Full Art cards). As of the beginning of the Scarlet & Violet Series, the Dragon type was briefly retired once again before returning in Paldea Evolved (Clay Burst in Japan), no longer with the special claw marks and Dragon type symbol but retaining their lack of Weakness and Resistance and appearing far less frequently than in previous eras.
Dragon Pokémon cards are mostly associated with two non-Colorless types of energy costs in their attacks (for example, Zekrom's attack costs used 
and 
even though it was not Fire-type). Between Ultra Prism and Cosmic Eclipse, most Dragon Pokémon cards with secondary types in the core series used an energy cost type that corresponds to their secondary type.

Generally, Dragon Pokémon have a weakness to:
- Dragon (prior to the XY expansion)
- Fairy (from the XY expansion through Cosmic Eclipse expansion)

- The Dragon type was introduced to the Pokémon TCG in 2012, which coincided with the Year of the Dragon, according to the Chinese calendar.
