Image for Mega Rayquaza

Given that Rayquaza's page has an image for its Mega Evolution, shouldn't this article have one as well? I'd add it in myself, but I am not allowed to edit the page, so could someone add one for me, please? He's here! The one and only...Uncle Edit! (talk) 21:17, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Bump He's here! The one and only...Uncle Edit! (talk) 17:34, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
I believe we're waiting for the official artwork to come out before adding it. --Pokemaster97 19:03, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
I understand that official artwork take priority before anything else, but why does Rayquaza's page have an image but not this one? It really doesn't make sense to me. Of course, in the event we decide to use said image for both articles, we can remove it once official artwork comes out for Mega Rayquaza. That screen-cap certainly isn't something that we should use permanently. He's here! The one and only...Uncle Edit! (talk) 19:22, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

Separate Mini-Sections

I was thinking that if it should come to it Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution can have the entries split up into two separate mini-sections: Introduced in X and Y and Introduced in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. However I would like to wait first until more information comes out first before doing such as thing. If the new Mega Pokémon are confirmed to be incompatible with X and Y then I would definitely support this idea. -Tyler53841 (talk) 17:01, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

Nice Idea. But what do you mean "incompatible" ? → PikaTepig999 17:18, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
We might or might not get a patch that updated XY with ORAS megas (the only that pre-exist in XY are the Lati@s mega). Eridanus (talk) 17:21, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
It is also the same as how Pokémon with newer forms that were introduced in Platinum and Black & White 2 were not compatible with the original games (Diamond & Pearl and Black & White). -Tyler53841 (talk) 17:25, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
There's not gonna be a patch. So now it will be better if the megas are divided into two sections. → PikaTepig999 15:32, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
You cannot know that. It won't hurt anything to at least wait until ORAS is released. Then we'll at least know exactly what to say about how the Mega evolution compatibility is handled between ORAS and XY. Tiddlywinks (talk) 15:47, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

It's fixed. Thanks for the reminder. Berrenta (talk) 14:45, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
While you're at it, Electric also has the least (2), the same as ice. Fix it, okay?--Omojuzeforever (talk) 15:32, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
And Psychic has 10, not 9. Dragons have 9 though..--Omojuzeforever (talk) 15:33, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Lati@sites tradeable to XY?

Does the game let you trade the Lati@sites over to XY? If so should a little note be added mentioning that these mega-stones are in the code for XY despite not being made available till ORAS? Jmvb (talk) 01:54, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

PokéGods?

Is it plausible to assume that some ideas for Mega Evolution might have been inspired by the infamous PokéGods that were popular in the fandom back in the 1990s and early 2000s? If so, this should be added as trivia. A good source on PokéGods is the RAGECANDYBAR project site (link). SatoMew 17:26, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

No, I don't think so. While the possibility that Game Freak could have possibly been inspired by such rumors may exist, there's zero reason to ASSUME that they were inspired by them, especially since to my knowledge Game Freak has never acknowledged those rumors before. —AndyPKMN (talk) 18:15, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

I would like to know something...

Before I put something like this in the trivia: "Before the introduction of Lopunny's Mega Evolution in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, Meloetta in its' Pirouette Forme was the only Pokémon with a unique type combination of Normal/Fighting.", does anyone who's reading this it's wise to do so? Oh, and Merry Christmas, Bulbapedia! IM-T-MAN2 (talk) 03:55, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

No. "Used to be" trivias aren't really notable.--ForceFire 04:05, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
^I'd replace "really" with "generally" in the above, as there are always exceptions. But in this case, something this narrow/complex would be a bit out-of-place on an article that talks about all of Mega Evolution in general. In addition, it's not exactly unique as there are at least three other Pokémon that had unique type combinations in Gen V but lost them in Gen VI, being Reshiram (Mega Charizard X), Zekrom (Mega Ampharos), and Numel/Camerupt (Primal Groudon). Thanks for asking! Blueapple128 (talk) 04:12, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
Thank you, Force Fire. IM-T-MAN2 (talk) 04:09, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

Two Things

I may be blind, but it looks like it needs to be mentioned how the Mega Evolutions introduces in ORAS are not compatible with XY. However, Latios and Latias are. I'm not really sure the best way to word that so if someone could figured out a way to incorporate that it would be awesome. If I'm blind than I apologize for bringing this up.

Also, this was briefly talked about prior to ORAS release, but should the list of Mega Evolutions be changed a little? Right now it's two lists, the XY ones, and the ORAS ones. However, someone mentioned that we could put all of them in one list and add another column indicating the game they were released in. Thoughts? --HoennMaster 19:24, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

I don't think you're blind, but I think I'm not going to try to fix it (anytime soon).
I really don't think we "need" to combine the tables, but I can conceive that there may be a benefit to it that doesn't jump out at me right now. Maybe... Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:45, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

gen. 5

Genesect and the Legend Awakened is a gen. 5 movie and it has mega evolution in it. just saying. --Valehd (tAlk) 21:42, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

Yes, and? Mewtwo Strikes Back is a Gen I movie and features over three Gen II Pokemon. Pokemon Heroes is a Gen II movie that features two Gen III Pokemon. And so on and so on. The anime constantly promotes future generations in their movies. Ataro (talk) 23:25, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

In the TCG

In the TCG, Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre have the same traits as all other Mega evolutions and so shouldn't they be considering a Mega Evolution in the TCG? Pokemaniac1337 (talk) 15:14, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

Pokédex Entries From The Sites

I think that since the X & Y and Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire sites both included descriptions of the abilities of the Mega Evolutions to their summaries, we should consider adding them. Here's an example of what it would look like. I think it would help round out the page a bit.

If they will be added anywhere, it should probably be somewhere on [Venusaur/Rayquaza/etc]'s own page. As it stands, there's not an obvious place they should go there, but the above is not the most attractive option. Tiddlywinks (talk) 09:19, 26 July 2015 (UTC)
Well, they already are on all of the main Pokémon's pages, but I agree, there's not a uniformed, obvious place where each description should go on their pages, which is maybe why it would be better to put them on this page. And I don't see how it makes the table look uglier. In fact, it fills out a bit. --BlackButterfree (talk) 16:26, 26 July 2015 (UTC)
Pieces of text that are longer vertically than they are wide are not appealing to read. And at my window width, that's what it is. And even if your screen is really wide, there's not really any sort of need to "fill out" the table... They don't even really fit in the table either IMO; they're just flavor text, whereas everything else in the table is basically useful.
The only thing that really matters to me in the end, though, is those descriptions are basically Pokedex entries, so they belong more or less alongside other Pokedex entries (if anywhere), not here. Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:54, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

Move Blaziken

The special Torchic with the Blazikenite can't be obtained anymore, should we move it to the ORAS section? Awesomelink234 (talk) 01:54, 21 August 2015 (UTC)

No. Despite the event no longer being available, Mega Blaziken was still introduced in X and Y. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:05, 21 August 2015 (UTC)

Primals

I don't know if this has been mentioned before (please forgive me if it has) but could we combine the Primal & Mega Evolution pages? I just think it would be simpler because 1. Mega Rayquaza is a counterpart to Primal Groudon/Kyogre, 2. Both evolutions need a specific item to activate, and none of those items have additional effects, and 3. Because Groudon and Kyogre have Primals, it's EXTREMELY unlikely that they'll get a Mega Evolution. Although now that I think about it, that goes for Keldeo, Meloetta, and Deoxys to some extent as well... Anyway, what do you think? Thanks, AmoongussForLife (talk) 22:56, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

Primal Reversion is pretty different from Mega Evolution. Just read its intro. Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:00, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

M Pokémon EX cards

right now i can't edit it but a lot of M Pokémon EX cards are missing from this page

can anybody with the info update this one?--kyokencl (talk) 03:45, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

Table images mucked up by vandal

Someone thinks it's funny to change the images around, Beedrill is now Brazil and mega evolves into Portugal, Thank you very much we are all dumber now thanks to you.--Orange22 (talk) 22:17, 28 June 2016 (UTC)

What are you talking about? Everything looks normal to me. Unowninator (talk) 23:01, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
This is a known issue on mobile devices. Often the wrong images will be loaded, even though the page itself has the correct images. Unfortunately, we have no way to fix this. --SnorlaxMonster 03:11, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
Really? Any idea why it happens? Unowninator (talk) 03:56, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
I believe its a caching issue. --SnorlaxMonster 06:09, 29 June 2016 (UTC)

Gen IV

A system remotely similar to mega evolution introduced in gen IV when magmortar, electivire, magnetzone, dusknoir, gallade, and rhyperior (I might have missed some). It involves trading certain Pokémon whilst they are holding a certain item. However, unlike mega evolution, this change is permanent.- unsigned comment from QwertyJacob750 (talkcontribs)

Pokémon have been able to evolve from holding an item ever since it is possible to hold items, so I do not think there is any actual connection to Mega Evolution. Jazama (talk) 23:34, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

Sun and Moon Revelation

Should we start updating Mega Evolution more as Sun and Moon reveled more interesting facts on it, like some of the Pokemon becoming more aggressive for example?--Jacob Kogan (talk) 21:56, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

How Mega Evolution has Changed in Pokemon Sun and Moon

Shouldn't the page be updated for how now in Pokemon Sun and Moon, Pokemon who are Mega Evolving get their change in speed stats (if applicable, of course) applied immediately like all their other stats, and not one turn later like in Generation 6?--Rithvikkiran (talk) 00:42, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

TCG Card List

I don't know how or why this is happening, I checked the coding myself and what the coding says should be happening isn't what is actually happening. The coding for the TCG Card List is where it should be, in the TCG section. But on the article page, the TCG Card List is actually appearing in the In Other Languages section. Thought this would be something to be looking into by someone far more experienced than me in coding. I thought it might be my computer personally so I did what I knew to do, refresh the page, followed by purging the page. Nothing changed. DarienLeonhart (talk) 05:20, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

Someone removed the footer in the last edit. Tiddlywinks (talk) 05:44, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
Something so simple can destroy everything... such a shame LOL DarienLeonhart (talk) 05:45, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

LGP and LGE

How does Mega Evolution work in LGP and LGE? If there's no held items, how can Pokémon Mega Evolve? Am I the only one who's confused about this? Please clarify... Striker212 (talk) 15:11, 8 December 2018 (UTC)

They're battle items. --Johans (talk) 16:03, 8 December 2018 (UTC)
Battle items? Not sure what that means...but anyway, nothing about LGP and LGE is in this article, so could someone please add that? Striker212 (talk) 02:42, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
They can be used by a Pokémon as long as the corresponding mega Stone is present in the bag.[[Elite4Alola]] (talk) 01:50, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

Effect of mega Evolution on the ability to use a Z-move

I find no information pertaining to whether mega evolution affects the ability to use a Z-Move in any way. Does this mean the trainer can both mega evolve a Pokémon and unleash a Z-Move in the same battle? Please reply.[[Elite4Alola]] (talk) 01:49, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

You need to hold a mega stone for mega evolution, while you need to hold a z-crystal for z-moves. there is no way you can hold two items at once, so it is either mega evolution or z-moves. Rayquaza cannot use z-moves if it mega evolves. -Pokeant (talk) 02:32, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
If you're asking if it's possible to both Mega Evolve and use a Z-Move in the same battle with two different Pokémon, then yes, it is possible.--Rahl (talk) 02:36, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
Yes Rahl. Thanks for the info.[[Elite4Alola]] (talk) 03:32, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

While a single Pokémon cannot hold two items at once, therefore it would make it impossible for a single Pokémon to both Mega Evolve and use a Z-Move, there is one exception to that rule. Rayquaza who is not required to have an item held for mega evolution since Rayquaza devoured the Mega Stone. Therefore, this leaves its item slot held open for a Z-Crystal. Mind you, my basis for this fact is based on my knowledge of Mega Stones in the XY games and my knowledge of Z-Crystals in the Sun/Moon games. I have not yet played Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, nor have I obtained a Rayquaza in either Sun or Moon yet. ---- DarienLeonhart (talk) 12:02, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

What? Both this page and Rayquaza's page explicitly state that it cannot Mega Evolve if it holds a Z-Crystal. Ataro (talk) 13:02, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
Like I said, my knowledge may be a bit misinformed because, and I repeat, "I have not caught a Rayquaza in Sun or Moon and I have not played Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon" And again, this is a public editable forum where information is added/altered at anyone's whim. So unless the information is cited with a source link, I would find it hard to believe with out proof to back it up. While Bulbapedia (and other Fandom/Wikia sites) are good places for information... It don't mean a thing if the source isn't from a verifiable source and cited as such as well. For example, no citation at all could mean it's misinformation. Another example, while I won't use names, Other Fandom/Wikia, or other sites where information is edited/added by the public can not be valid sources. That means even Wikipedia, Serebi, and even the Pokémon Wikia are off limits as a source. ---- DarienLeonhart (talk) 13:54, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
...It's not something we took from some other website. If you have a Rayquaza with Dragon Ascent, and you give it a Z-Crystal, it won't let you mega evolve. --Celadonkey (talk) 19:30, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
The source is people playing the games for themselves and finding it out for themselves. There is no site to source player's own experience.--ForceFire 03:38, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

Gen 8?

Does mega evolution existed in gen 8? Jovito (talk) 18:33, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

No, I recall them stating they did not intend to bring back Mega Evolutions for Gen VIII. Frozen Fennec 18:37, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
If Mega Evolution is really not present in generation VIII (I don't have Sword and Shield yet, so I haven't checked it myself), it should be explicitly said so in this page, and probably other related pages. Other than the lack of mention of gen VIII in Mega Evolution-related pages, I couldn't find any indication here on Bulbapedia that gen VIII doesn't have Mega Evolution. Suic (talk) 16:03, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
I can confirm that it's not part of the SwSh game currently, so I'd say go ahead. Nescientist (talk) 16:10, 6 July 2020 (UTC)

Does Mega Evolition increase stats in Mystery Dungeon DX?

I've seen people claim mega evolution and the awakened status in the game increases stats, but the in game encyclopedia has no such claim. In my own testing the stat totals don't visually change, and moves don't seem to do more damage. But when an enemy is awakened or mega evolves, they without a doubt become significantly bulkier. does mega evolution only grant a stat bonus to enemies? Brin (talk) 15:16, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

Has it ever been confirmed why Mega Evolution was removed from Sword and Shield?

Mega Evolution was removed from Pokemon Sword and Shield (and BDSP didn't give it back), but I have never seen a true reason why. Pokemon Showdown has the capabilities of including this and Z moves with Dyna(giganta)max in the same metagame so there's really no reason Nintendo shouldn't be able to do it. Has there ever been any official confirmation which I can then add to this page for clarity on why these mechanics were removed? Mario60866 (talk) 20:20, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

Features are added and dropped all the time. Pokéathlon hasn’t been a game since HGSS. We wouldn’t be able to speculate on the article without it being, well, speculation. --celadonk (talk) 01:59, 28 January 2022 (UTC)

Base Stats Comparison Section?

It might be more useful, albeit even longer, to have the regular form's and the Mega form's base stats in the table so that the stat increases and decreases can be compared as well. If this would make the table too long, can we use the same code from the TCG Pokemon Power list to hide it as needed? Salmancer (talk) 19:14, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

Metric Prefixes

Should it be noted (perhaps in the trivia) that Mega Evolution, Gigantamax, and Tera probably get part of their names from metric prefixes in order of release? CyberDragonM (talk) 13:42, 31 August 2024 (UTC)

Seems like a coincidence, but still, almost too interesting an observation not to note somewhere. Landfish7 23:45, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
I think Tera was definitely on purpose, because I can’t really see another possible origin for that one, especially with only one r. But where should it go? CyberDragonM (talk) 05:15, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
