Welcome
Welcome to Bulbapedia, Kogoro!
As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:
- For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
- The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
- The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
- The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a captial B (which is, again, accessed by holding Shift and pressing the B key). The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
- The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
- On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
- The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
- If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
- A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
- For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
- Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. You will have to register separately for it, as well. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded.
- If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:Kogoro/1/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
- Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
- A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem, can be found here.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here! Takoto 17:21, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Nice work
Looks like you're taking over my job. I would usually redirect stuff once in a while. What you're doing reminds me of the time I uploaded all the Platinum sprites...it was not fun...very boring. So good luck! :) - unsigned comment from Tavisource (talk • contribs)
- Hey...I don't know why, but whenever I'm on Bulbapedia, I forget to sign, but when I'm e-mailing my friends, for some reason I make the four little tides for no reason...argh. And this time, I remembered! YAY!--☆Tavisource 02:50, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- You could e-mail me instead...it's much more convenient for me. And by the way, I had turned of PM...I don't know why...but I just never saw the need for it...so e-mail me if you could please.--☆Tavisource 04:44, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- Read e-mail, I finished Red. Are you on my friend list yet? Go to my user page or talk page and click the link in the orange message box at the top. Bayby G (the section above) and Takoto (the one who welcomed you) are also on it, along with many people...so join the group.~--☆Tavisource 06:16, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hope you like it...I gotta go now, so I'll talk to you later.--☆Tavisource 06:23, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'm back, I was over at Bulbagarden forums. But now I gotta go again...to bed. By the way, I see you are welcoming some people. I remember when my Diamaster and I welcomed MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY users and we got in trouble by the founder of Bulbapedia.--☆Tavisource 06:57, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

g template
That one does not have to be used every time. Most of the time, using [[Pokémon anime]] loks so much better in the coding than the g template. It is harder to deal with for new users and it is only supposed to be used when linking to games. It makes it harder to notice what the page is saying when the g template is used, so don't edit pages just to change this template because it is unneccesary and has negative draw-backs. MoldyOrange 00:33, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
Party table
All of those pages actually do need the party table for the Pokémon Stadium games. I set up an example on Brock and I want you to finish with Brock and the rest of the Gym Leaders because you did a very good job with the main games on that page. MoldyOrange 23:12, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Moves not in the Pokémon games
There is alot of moves missing from that list. One that I can think of on the top of my head is "Singe"...does that not belong? I just thought you should carry out the discussion for me, because I gotta go to bed. see ya.--☆Tavisource 06:15, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- I have to admit, hell if I know ^_^; Though since it's a list, I would have to assume it would at least deserve a mention. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 06:17, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Ash's Turtwig evolves!!!!
Ash's Turtwig will evolve in DP100, in a battle against Paul's Honchkrow! I have evidence! Check on Youtube and type in "DP100 priview"!--GarchompLover 12:45, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yes we KNOW it evolves! We're not stupid. We have a policy that we need to wait until an episode airs before we announce anything. It doesn't matter how much evidence you have. It techincally isn't evolved until this Thursday night in Japan. Got it? --ケンジのガール 00:54, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Card scans
Wow, pretty talk page! Anyways, I just wanted to thank you for all those scans you've uploaded, that helps us immensely. Quick question regarding them - would it be alright if I tried to increase the quality a little bit? I've just got Adobe Photoshop (an old version, CS1 I think) and I'm dying to try it out. =D Cipher (Talk) 11:45, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, and no problem, I'm enjoying adding all these scans, I just wish I wasn't on Dial-Up so I could get sets done much faster. If you would like to try increasing their quality in Photoshop, go right ahead. I'm actually using Photoshop CS2 with my scanner to scan them! - Kogoro | Talk to me | 15:33, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Something else, before I forget - would you maybe be able to save your scans as JPGs rather than PNGs? PNG scans are massive, often twice as big as JPG scans, even though they're the same quality (if you save JPGs as the highest quality). If you could, cheers much. If not, don't worry about it. =) Cipher (Talk) 19:18, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Funny thing is, I tried to save them as .jpg (at 100% quality) and each scan had the exact same detail but each one was over 1MB in size! .png has actually become my friend with these, thanks to being half the byte-size. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 19:21, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Ouch, 1MB?! Damn, that's painful...PNG's definitely the best route then, unless you fancy trying to kill the server. Wouldn't recommend it. =P Cipher (Talk) 19:29, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, 1MB! (Or 1.32MB to be precise...) I definitely don't fancy killing the servers, OR killing my puny little Dial-Up Connection... While uploading the remainder of Diamond & Pearl: Mysterious Treasures, I killed my Dial-Up and had to take a few minutes to reconnect so I could finish the set. The painful part was, I was about 3/4 done uploading & adding the images... - Kogoro | Talk to me | 19:33, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- That really sucks. When we had dial-up it always kept shutting off on us, so we just switched. It just got so annoying, you couldn't be online for five minutes without it going "I'm bored, so I'm going to chop your connection and make you run around like headless chickens to cheer me up". Cipher (Talk) 19:45, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Episode image
The episode could be aired, but if the image spoils the episode, it cannot stay there. --Nick., something to say? 03:11, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- So, then why did our Editor-in-Chief, TTEchidna leave the image in the code, albeit hidden when he protected it until the episode's air date? - Kogoro | Talk to me | 03:12, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hm, I swear that episode was protected due to the Grotle stuff, but I can't seem to see it in there on a protect... Anyhoo, TTE did edit it on the 30th and did leave the image. I'd have to say if he didn't remove it, it should be fine to keep there. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 03:18, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- I left a message to TTE, so I'm waiting for the answer. --Nick., something to say? 03:48, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Secret Wonders, Legends Awakened
Hiya, just a quick question - are you planning on scanning-in any Secret Wonders or Legends Awakened cards? I'm asking 'cos I'm planning on scanning SW in tomorrow in my free time, and on uploading Japanese card images for LA card articles. In either case, if you're scanning in for either, let me know. When it comes to LA, I can easily not upload the Japanese images, because English card scans are preferred, but in the case of SW...eh, I've over 100 to scan in, which is gonna pretty much fill up the set, so I don't know what'll be left without an image afterward. Cheers, Cipher (Talk) 21:21, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well, if you're still busy with DP, I'd love to be able to do SW, if that's alright? And as for LA, sure, I can hold off for as long as needs be. =) Cipher (Talk) 21:29, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- Brilliant, I'll let you know if there are any gaps left once I've scanned everything in tomorrow. Cheers much! Cipher (Talk) 21:35, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Adminship
I was trying to find someone who I could nominate for adminship this month, and I looked at your contributions, and saw that you have a lot of great contributions. Plus, you meet the 6-month requirement, so lemme ask you: Would you like me to nominate you for adminship? Chocolate 14:29, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
- While you would be a commendable candidate, Kogoro, I have to say, Chocoboy, that randomly going around and trying to find someone to nominate... not too good. Focus on the work, and if someone makes a lot of good contribs, then you should nominate them after seeing them in action.
- Someone's doing a lot of good on RC? Check their contribs. Those are good, then check their joining date/first contrib date. That checks out, nominate them. Just... don't go searching through users for someone to nominate this month. I hate having to constantly monitor the page in case a nomination expires... TTEchidna 21:05, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Two things
1) Do you really have a shiny Eevee? I would kill for it!
- 2) and is all the text on this page small on purpose?--DCM((Shut the **** upSpy on My Edits))
- 1. Yes, I do have a shiny Eevee. It almost killed me when I was breeding for it.
- 2. The text shouldn't be any smaller than a normal article. Your browser might have a problem with the code in the border template. Or a problem with the code from the archives/byte-size page. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 17:20, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
- 1) lucky. I would trade you anything for it, but im sure you wouldnt trade it away.
- 2) yeah, it was just internet explorer. The look changed from IE to FF to Safari--DCM((Shut the **** upSpy on My Edits))
- Actually, it seems to be a different font. TTEchidna 00:42, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- It is, the font that the template applies is Verdana. However, the size should be nearly identical to the text on articles. - Kogoro | Talk to me | 00:48, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Avoiding redirects
Please do not change the links to the Pokémon on the episode lists. As stated in the manual of style, we keep the Pokémon that way to avoid spoiler prevention. I'm aware that they are redirects, but I got yelled at once for doing that, so since then I've just had it list the Pokémon as it appeared in the episode. --PAK Man Talk 05:45, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- Alrighty, I don't see the reason though. We do have a visible Spoiler Warning right after the start section of the episode articles. But, if it's the way it is, then it's the way it is ^_^ - Kogoro | Talk to me | 05:47, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- It's not just that, but it's a giant pain to go through every episode the Pokémon appeared in previously to update it for consistency-- imagine what we'd have to do for Ash's Squirtle if it evolved. TTEchidna 03:20, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- I understand that. It does sound like a pain, though I'd actually be more than willing to go through and so stuff like that. I actually like to do anything that could be considered an annoying & long task when I need a break from uploading card images... ^_^; - Kogoro | Talk to me - 05:28, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- Eh, still. I think it's best to leave it linking to the evolution stage it was in the episode. It's not like any evolutionary level disambiguation needs to take place for any main character's Pokémon... closest we come is Misty's Staryu and Starmie... TTEchidna 07:53, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- Works for me. If at any time it may be best to change it to link to the most current evolutionary stage, I'd just need a shout and I'd work on it ^_^ - Kogoro | Talk to me - 07:56, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- Nah... but we do need a project done on many episode pages. TTEchidna 07:57, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- I noticed the small, and sometimes lack of synopsis for episodes. If I had any of the episodes on VHS or DVD I'd try to write up some for the articles, but I haven't been able to get any Pokémon Home Video other than the Movies. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 08:03, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well, that too... mostly I was talking about changing "X is episode # of series" to "X is the #th episode of the Y series and the Zth episode of the Pokémon anime". You do it by substing User:TTEchidna/epnum in and putting the parameters of epicode (EP, AG, DP) and epnum (just the number) in. Yyyyyep. TTEchidna 08:07, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- I made a little while ago a list about the episodes with problematic synopses. See User:UltimateSephiroth/Anime episodes with missing or partial synopsis, and do not hesitate to update the list if necessary. UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 08:25, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- Seems like it's, um, not there. TTEchidna 08:28, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I'm just now on my mobile phone so I can't use more than one page at once. I edited the link, is it now the correct one? UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 08:35, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- Still no... I found it. TTEchidna 08:37, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Stormfront images
Random question, probably, but I'm looking at the Stormfront scans you're uploading and they're amazing quality. What type of scanner do you use? I'm looking to get my own, as I have to use the scanner in the downstairs computer room, which isn't ideal. Cipher (Talk) 17:43, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Pokémon order in move learnsets
Hey, I saw you on RC and thought you might be around, so I figured I'd ask you first: what order should the list of Pokémon be in the learnset sections on move pages? A couple months ago, Chocolate reordered a number of pages to group families together, but the MoS indicates most Pokémon lists should be in National Dex order. Is that true? — Laoris (Blah) 17:52, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- National Pokédex order, definitely. (If I remember right, Chocolate got in a bit of trouble for re-ordering the ones that he did) Ordering by evolution family really poses problems when new Pokémon & new evolutions are introduced. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 17:57, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks! I already started changing some of the pages back, but I wanted to get some confirmation before I went further. — Laoris (Blah) 18:01, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
Great Encounters scans
Hiya, I remember you uploaded a dozen or so scans from Great Encounters a while ago - just wondering if you had any more? Some of the ones we have are fairly small but I don't have 'em. If I give you a list, can you let me know which ones you can scan in? Cheers, Cipher (Talk) 17:45, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- If you give me a list I can see what I can do. I'll make no promises though. Sadly, Great Encounters is one of the two sets I have been unable to find. But I did find a couple of packs from that set when I had uploaded those few scans. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 17:52, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
