Synopsis

As Ash and friends are preparing to leave Veilstone City, Reggie takes them to see the meteors of the city. The gang marvel at where the meteors could have come from, as a Red, Green and Blue light appear far overhead.

The scene shifts to show a figure stepping out of a helicopter, revealed to be Saturn, visiting the Veilstone Galactic Headquarters with a mysterious box in hand. He briefs the Team Galactic Grunts about what their mission is, and then leaves to go to the park where the meteors are held.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket are planning and singing about how they will steal the meteors, until James points out that trying to lift one, all 4 (Jessie, James, Meowth, Wobbuffet)would receive a hernia. They are interrupted by helicopters touching down, whilst others hover overhead. The scene cuts to Reggie, who is on the videophone to Paul, and Reggie is informing him about how great Ash is, which annoys Paul. Saturn steps out of a helicopter, and gets out the box, and opens it to reveal the Spear Key. In the meteor's presence, the Cubic Key hovers and reforms into a different shape, and as this happens, the Meteor's all start glowing and release beacons of light into the air. BLots of notable people in Veilstone City, including Ash, Dawn and Brock, Maylene and Reggie all notice this. Saturn then radio's HQ to run the scrambling. The grunt on the other end complies, and communications and all technology (excluding vehicles and Galactic Equipment) across the city go down. This prompts Officer Jenny to dispatch forces across the city, whilst the gang head over to the hill. En-route, they bump into Maylene and Maylene's Lucario, who informs them that Connally has gone to inform Jenny about what's happening.

Whilst this is happening, Team Galactic notice Team Rocket, and the Trio start their motto, only to be interrupted by the nonchalant Saturn sending out Saturn's Toxicroak, who blasts them a short distance with a Sludge Bomb. The gang arrive and suspect the Rocket's to be behind it, to the ire of Jessie. Toxicroak sends a Dark Pulse at them all, and Lucario quickly intervenes with an Aura Sphere which has no affect on Toxicroak. Jenny then arrives, and confronts and reveals who Team Galactic are. At this point, Saturn allows the many grunts to release their Golbat to distract the good guys, in order that the meteors can continue to be lifted. The gang struggle with the Golbat, until Reggie arrives with [[Paul's Electabuzz] to help in the fight. Whilst the fight is going on, Brock's Croagunk and Saturn's Toxicroak are battling, something which Team Rocket get in the way of and are blasted off. The gang dispatch a lot of Golbat, however, Electabuzz is surrounded by Golbat, until Pikachu uses Thunderbolt to dispatch them, and seems to ask if Electabuzz is ok. One of the Golbat, however, manages to let out what appears to be a dark pulse at Pikachu, which Electabuzz blocks. The attention turns to the helicopters, and the gang all stop the wires getting the meteors; Pikachu users an Electabuzz Thunder aided Volt Tackle and Lucario uses Aura Sphere to cut the wires and Dawn's Piplup uses Whirlpool to contain the meteors to protect them. Saturn sighs at the grunts telling him that it's time, and retreats. Pikachu and Lucario send off a Thunderbolt and an Aura Sphere respectively, but the helicopters are too far away.

Ash apologises for not being able to apprehend them, but Jenny says that everyone is safe, as are the meteors so it's a job well done. Meanwhile, the scene finally shifts to the Helicopter, where Saturn discusses how their next plan is at the lake, presumed to be Lake Valor, as it is the closest one.

Trivia

  • Toxicroak may be the first Template:Shiny2 Pokémon to be seen in the Diamond and Pearl series.
    • However, there are many ongoing arguments in the fandom over this. Some people claim that merchandise depicting the alternate-color Toxicroak is evidence that the anime considers the alternate-color Toxicroak to be the normal coloration.
    • It's interesting to note that the color of Toxicroak also resembles the coloration of Toxicroak's menu sprite.
  • The dub title is a pun on the word "intergalactic."
  • As Team Galactic made their escape, Saturn mentioned the Red Chain and that their next mission will be at one of the three lakes.
  • It is possible that Saturn's Toxicroak is a giant Pokémon, due to its size comparison with Brock's Croagunk.
  • Professor Oak's Pokémon lecture: Ash's Buizel
  • The helicopter light colours (Red, Green and Blue) could be considered a reference to the original games.
