By the way, TTE's paying attention LIKE A HAWK to any and all information concerning HGSS. Cool it. We will have stuff up and ready as soon as time allows.

Images

Uh, what's up with the images? I wanna see the covers NOW!!! Sidnoea 04:15, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Request denied. We've just moved over to a new setup so there's a glitch in the thumbnails. No game boxart has yet been released, all we have is the logo. TTEchidna 04:18, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Couldn't we simply use the HeartGold and SoulSilver logos that are currently on the Japanese Nintendo website? It's the official visual representation of the new games currently, so my opinion is that they are best used until other official images are revealed.

  • They're not showing up due to a glitch, as TTEchidna already stated. Frugali 06:20, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Players

Why does it say "2 players simultaneous"? The others say "1-4 players simultaneous", is it a mistake or did Nintendo just changed the whole idea behind the gameplay?Mr. Charlie 09:11, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm guessing that's coz nothing's confirmed, but its fairly obvious that the two-player connection will remain. While it's quite likely the likes of the Union Room will let more than two players connect at once, I'll let TTE make that call. — THE TROM — 09:23, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Unless we hear from Nintendo that this game is only possible to play with two people I really think it should at least read "1-2 players simultaneous." Multiplayer-only games exist, but it would be extremely unprecedented if this was one of them--Barakku 17:12, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Gen V

Shouldn't this game be a Generation V game? AlienX2008 11:06, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

I don't see why, as long as it's fully compatible with DPP. We'll find out more later, I guess. --((Marton imos)) 11:07, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Generation V would introduce new Pokémon. As this is a remake, we're leaning towards Gen IV. — THE TROM — 11:09, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
But didn't the originals open Gen II? This could just be the front cover of the Gen V book. They can program in new Pokémon and not use them if they like. Gywall Talk 11:11, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
But FireRed and LeafGreen did not start Generation III.--Purimpopoie 11:13, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
You're missing the point, as Gen II introduced the Time Capsule which blocked current generation data entering the previous generation. Gywall Talk 11:22, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
No Gywall, once again, it is you who is missing the point. Just as FireRed LeafGreen were the same generation, so will be HeartGold and MoonSilver.Max King 17:11, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
They're Gen IV games. Dammit, everyone quit wishing for Gen V or the end of Pokémon already. TTEchidna 14:42, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Hah, Gywall got told. Isn't it obvious they are Gen 4? I really cant understand how people think they could be Gen 5? What has changed between them and Platinum? Nothing is what. Max King 17:10, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
I'm going to make one point here really clear right now. While I have absolutely no authority to do this, if you are wishing for the end of Pokémon, I see no reason why you should be here, and I'm going to have to ask whoever is wishing for the end to leave. Generation V, however, you can wish for all you like, but its not likely to appear until at least 2010, possibly even 2011.--Thomas Michael William Patrick Sales 15:18, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Its likely to appear when the next portable Nintendo game system is out.--Clarky13 15:27, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

I see even more proof that these are NOT going to be Gen V games (which you guys seem to have missed). What are the only times a new region has been introduced in the main series games? AT THE START OF A GENERATION. HG & SS are NOT introducing a new zone, they're returning to an old zone. Diachronos 17:16, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, and remember that new generations have come out when a new GameBoy or Nintendo portable console is introduced. Wish will likely happen in 2011, because of the usual two year gap. I also wanted them to be gen. V, but that would've messed up the two year gap.--AOS 04:06, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Don't forget that besides introducing a whole new region, each generation starts with new player characters!--I'm Pokelova(Talk) 10:38, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

They can't really be considered Generation V, since they don't introduce a new region, new Pokemon, and new player characters. Nintendo will have probably released the successor to the DS by the time Generation V starts. Besides, FireRed and LeafGreen were remakes of Red and Blue, but they were still considered Generation III because they were released on GBA and could communicate with Ruby and Sapphire. So, HeartGold and SoulSilver should still be considered Generation IV. Link 486 15:23, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Leave off Gywall. He/She is missing a few brain cells.Laxafett 17:05, 10 May 2009(UTC)

Link for the french article

Since there has been no announcement for an european release yet, the french article bears a tentative title : Pokémon versions Coeur d'Or et Âme d'Argent (Noms pressentis). Godspeed ! --InvocK 11:10, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Cool, thanks, I've updated the interwiki link. — THE TROM — 11:28, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Another Feeble suggestion

Should we mix in the article about the Gold and Silver Remake rumor into this one. Its good to give an insight to what happened before the games release.--Clarky13 11:35, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Maybe just a "See also" tc²₆tc26 11:36, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes yes Link the rumer page to this but what of Crystal? Pokémon Crystal Mind? Random Chaos 12:58, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Seeing as there may not be a third game remake, Crystal has nothing to do with these gems--FF(editstalk) 13:02, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Actually, you never really know. They might include some Crystal elements in the G/S remakes, the most obvious of which (aside from gender choice which has since become standard) would probably be the Battle Tower. --Shiningpikablu252 14:29, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Or another Battle Frontier, bringing the total to 3, reminding that 2 of them are in Gen IV. And the probability is that they include all the elements from Crystal in HG/SS, like they did include all the elements from Blue in FR/LG. Yellow doesn't count as it was the fourth Gen I game and it was a special version rather than a common version, even though it had improvements over Blue and introduced prototypes of game mechanics that would make their real final introduction in G/S. That's why they didn't remake it. Pokemon lover 17:57, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Erm... There wasn't much to include from Blue. And what elements from Blue do you see in FR/LG? --Maxim 18:03, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
OK, maybe there aren't that much elements (if any) from Blue taken to FR/LG but the only reason I mentioned them was for the sake of comparison. Pokemon lover 18:22, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
Hmmm... no elements of Blue in FRLG? The cries? The catch rates? The fact that it was translated? TTEchidna 23:40, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
If anything, they'll include from Crystal the legendary gerbils' battle music, Sneasel appearing in the Ice Cave, and Weezing in the Burnt Tower (I hope!), but not much else. Missingno. Master wants YOU! Join the Order of the Glitch! (my talk page) 11:01, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Well, with the exception of the cries (they're from R/G; Blue didn't change them), you're right, TTE. And as for Missingno. Master, of course they'll include much more from Crystal than that, IMO. =D Pokemon lover 14:52, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Version-exclusives between Japanese and English versions

I'm surprised no one thought on this yet, even though it's all speculation right now. But do you think they'll do the same as in G/S? I mean, for some odd reason, Nintendo of America switched Teddiursa and Ursaring to Gold while Phanpy and Donphan were switched to Silver. In the Japanese versions, it's the opposite. Pokemon lover 20:48, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Most likely, they'll include the English Version-Exclusives as they did with the R/G ->R/B remakes. (FYI, They kept the version-exlusives as they were in Red and Blue, though this doesn't prove anything because of the Japanese R/G/B fiasco.) Dark Boye 00:07, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
FRLG's exclusives were messed with with regards to RG. RB had the same exclusives as RG, FRLG messed with it. The Psyduck and Slowpoke families weren't originally exclusives, while the Mankey and Meowth families were, nor were Shellder's and Staryu's families. For the most part they remain the same between I and III. I'd bet similarly on this. Plus, we used Red and Green in Gen III, so I'd bet they'll keep with the original exclusives, if both families aren't available in both games. Seeing as we've got new Pokémon to deal with, too, I'd bet Gligar and Aipom become somewhat exclusive. TTEchidna 08:08, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
I bet the version exclusives are Pokémon that have similar evolution that are Version-exclusives like Sneasel and Gligar. Laxafett 17:14, 10 May 2009(UTC)

In which case, should the possibility of the feature seemingly demonstrated in said screen be mentioned in the page itself? --Turaga Dlakii (Talk!) 00:28, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
I would say. It should be mentioned, as It incorporates a feature from Yellow. (Walking with your Pokémon)ŚĥîΠŶPî₭₳ĉĥŭ 00:40, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

New Starter Artwork

Hey guys, Serebii.net just got some new shots showing new Ken Sugimori artwork for the Jhoto Starters Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. Can someone get the images and put them on the Pokémon's respective pages? Thank you, --Dialgafan1 00:57, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Dialgafan1

Cool it, man. Don't you know how much I'm paying attention to all matters HGSS? We can only work so fast. And it's "Johto", not "Jhoto". TTEchidna 01:11, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
I took care of that (partially)--Mew a.k.a. Prmatt11 at 02:04, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Hehe, could we add the screenshot and maybe the artworks to a gallery section for this page? We're gonna need one by next week anyway. Aura-Knight 02:00, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
New art goes on the Pokémon's page. We don't have 151+ new artworks on FRLG's page. TTEchidna 03:43, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Screenshot Gallery

Add more, then add-to-page!--Mew a.k.a. Prmatt11 at 02:04, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Tada! The Totodile pic is on the way Aura-Knight 02:26, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Um I can only see cyndaquil! And where did you find these. -- Landfish7 14:01, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
I can see chikoritas on her page but i don't see it here. And I haven't seen Totodile's at all. -- Landfish7 14:06, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
The archive is still a little crazy from what I understand. Totodile's pic is visible at its page as well. With luck, these problems will be fixed today. Aura-Knight 14:21, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
It's a little early for a gallery, isn't it? On this page, we only need one picture from that little footage of Gold and Chikorita. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 14:26, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

ESRB - May 09 "Rating"

As the game isn't due for release yet and ESRB quite probably hasn't rated it yet. (Tell me where it says E for these games? The offical site doesn't.) Should we remove the Rating or put the word ASSUMED next to the rating? I know it's most likely to get the E Rating, but I don't think we should jump the gun. Big Nutter 02:57, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Noted. Thanks. — THE TROM — 03:01, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't think it's really jumping the gun, since apparently they've been meting out E ratings by merit of being Pokémon (Platinum and PMD2 got pretty...heavy for E-rated games) but yes, it still shouldn't be there.—Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 03:02, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Nah, with the game corner, we'll obviously have it rated M. TTEchidna 03:44, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't think game covers really warrant ESRB ratings spikes. Here's my prediction: The translation goes a bit too far, and one of the new features teased might be expanded gambling, and as a result, HeartGold and SoulSilver get E10+.
In any event, regardless of anyone's predictions, we probably shouldn't list any rating unless it's officially listed with one. And not just the ESRB--in the event an infobox might be appended to include other countries' rating systems (Japan's CERO, Europe's PEGI, etc.), we're best waiting for official ratings from those boards too. Just because Pokémon games have followed ratings trends doesn't mean they can't be broken--PEGI usually gives Pokémon games 3+ ratings, but Battle Revolution got slapped with a 7+. --Shiningpikablu252 04:21, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Dude, I totally forgot about the Game Corner. Are they using the same rationale the Japanese government uses for pachinko or something? If you don't redeem your chips in the same building as the casino, it's not gambling? :|—Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 04:45, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
...wait seriously? Damn, so that's how they got away with it this whole time! TTEchidna 07:56, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Well TTE, following your idea, then it wouldn't be a M-rated game but rather a T-rated game. Still, I don't think they'll ever give a Pokémon game a rating higher than E or E10+ (if that's ever going to happen =D). It's not like the games have porn or violent contents. Pokemon lover 11:33, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
So... killling small monsters is not violence? --Nick., something to say? 14:51, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
They don't die, they faint. FAINT. --((Marton imos)) 14:56, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
You just beat them up into a coma. Huge difference. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 14:58, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
I think lighting them on fire with Flamethrower would count as violence Shiny Rayquaza 15:01, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
It's kidding man, they'll rate it E, or E+10 if they're bored. There's no discussion for that --Nick., something to say? 15:02, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
If they had something like a Kingdom Hearts style where you go around beating the crap out of people for money and to steal their Pokémon, THEN we're talking T or M. Otherwise, they'll all be E or E10+. Seriously. The Game Corner isn't that bad. All of the games have gambling anyways, and they've always passed it off. And it's not even close to real gambling where you lose your home if you go into debt, which you can't. R.A. Hunter Blade 17:45, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
And Nintendo isn't stupid. The won't jump from E to T-M for that reason. They'd lose a lot of money if they do it... and you know, they really don't care even if they're taking the poor children to gambling ---Nick., something to say? 18:58, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

New gameplay video

The new gameplay video reveals the new visual effects. Also aparently your pokemon can now follow you around outside of battle like pikachu in pokemon Yellow. Weather or not this is limited to starter pokemon is unknown. (unless the video states it in japanese, translation of the video is required).
