Plot
At Centra City, a Scientist cries out as three Team Break grunts threaten to replace his glasses with a mask. After the grunts do so, they make a plan to put Team Break masks on everyone in Pasio. Before they can leave, a group of glasses-wearing Trainers—Calem, Serena, Bianca, Clemont, and Sonia—appear. They demand for the grunts to stop trying to force others to conform to their fashion standards, especially because glasses are an essential accessory. The grunts grow angry and attempt to continue with their plans, when suddenly Guzma enters with Professor Kukui and Molayne. Guzma demands to know who has a problem with his sunglasses, and the Team Break grunts nervously prepare to fight.
After the grunts are defeated, the Scientist thanks the glasses-wearing Trainers for their help. The Team Break grunts flee to the outskirts of Centra City, and are shocked to see Shauntal and Lorelei talking about their glasses as Lt. Surge, Blaine, and Darach stand behind them. Scared to challenge Gym Leaders, a Castle Valet, and members of the Elite Four, the three run away to a volcano.
At the volcano, the Team Break grunts are surprised to see Maxie and Groudon. Maxie walks over to them, and believing the grunts to be interested in his glasses, begins to explain how they were designed. The grunts politely decline to hear Maxie's explanation, then run off to another area of the volcano. Just as the grunts complain about how many glasses-wearing Trainers they have run into, they hear Steven and Roark having a conversation about glasses. One of the grunts is surprised that Steven would have anything to say about them, but then another one mentions how Steven wears sunglasses during the summer. Realizing they have no way of beating a Champion, the grunts flee once more.
Tired of walking from one place to another, the Team Break grunts stop to rest at the Pasio arena. A voice calls out to them, glad to hear that they are physically unable to continue with their plans. They turn around to see Lear, Rachel, and Sawyer, each wearing their glasses. Lear berates them for their plan, telling them that they picked the wrong group of Trainers to harass. The grunts realize that Lear is correct, and decide to give up on their goal. Distressed, the leader of the grunts expresses his surprise about how much the Trainers of Pasio enjoy wearing their glasses.

(City, by the fountain)
Scientist | N-no! Please stop! |
(Cut to some members of Team Break harassing a Scientist)
Masked Man (1) | Quiet, you! Like I said, we're just gonna give you a little makeover—Team Break style. |
Masked Woman | You'll look soooo much cooler wearing one of our masks! |
(Fade to black) | |
Scientist | Aaaaaahhhh! |
(Fade back to the Scientist, now wearing one of Team Break's masks)
Masked Man (2) | M-my precious glasses... |
Masked Woman | Ohohoho! You look absolutely marvelous! |
Masked Man (1) | All right, that's the spirit! Now let's go slap one of these masks on everyone on Pasio! |
??? | Stop right there! |
(Serena, Calem, Bianca, Clemont, and Sonia appear)
Calem | Can't you see how unhappy he is? |
Serena | How dare you force your own sense of fashion on someone else! |
Bianca | And don't you realize how important glasses are to us in our daily lives? They're a part of us—like our partner Pokémon! |
Clemont | That's right! We're not gonna just stand by and let you take away something so essential! |
Sonia | More importantly, I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a horrible-looking mask like that! |
Masked Woman | What did you just say?! |
Masked Man (1) | You're gonna accept our fashion sense, and you're gonna like it! |
??? | All right... |
(Guzma, Kukui, and Molayne appear)
Guzma | Which one of you's gotta problem with my sunglasses? |
Masked Man (3) | *gulp* |
Masked Man (1) | D-don't back down! We can take 'em all! |

Masked Man (1) | Argh, they beat us! Let's get outta here! |
(The Team Break members flee; Serena, Calem, and the others gather with the Scientist, whose mask has been removed)
Scientist | Th-thank you! You saved me! |
Serena | And we got your glasses back! Be careful not to lose them again! |
(Transition to the Team Break members standing on the edge of a plaza)
Masked Man (1) | Grrr! What's up with those jerks? |
Masked Woman | They certainly did a number on us... |
??? | Are those new glasses, Shauntal? |
(The Team Break members notice Shauntal, Lorelei, Blaine, Lt. Surge, and Darach gathered in the plaza)
Shauntal | Yes! How did you know? The frames are exactly the same as my old ones. You know what they say: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" |
Masked Man (2) | Oh no! More of them? And this time it's Elite Four members, Gym Leaders, and a Castle Valet? |
Masked Woman | Wh-what should we do? They've all got on glasses or sunglasses! |
Masked Man (1) | Let's scram before they find us! |
(Transition to the Team Break members in a volcanic area)
Masked Man (1) | What? Another one? |
(Pan to Maxie and Groudon)
Maxie | Hmm? Well, if it isn't Team Break. |
(Maxie approaches the Team Break members)
Masked Man | G-glasses! |
Maxie | What's that you say? You're in awe of my magnificent Mega Glasses? It appears you have very good taste. Allow me to explain the cutting-edge science used to create this ingenious design— |
(Groudon roars) | |
Masked Woman | N-no, thank you! |
(The Team Break members walk away and end up in a different part of the volcanic area)
Masked Woman | What is going on?! Why does everyone we run into have on glasses or sunglasses? |
??? | Wow, Roark! You sure do take good care of your glasses! |
Masked Man (2) | Oh no, not again! |
(Pan to Steven talking with Roark)
Roark | That's right! I'd say my glasses are like an invaluable partner to me. Without them, I wouldn't be able to dig holes or find fossils! |
Steven | I know exactly how you feel. |
Masked Woman | Wait, what?! How could Steven possibly understand? He doesn't wear glasses or sunglasses! |
Masked Man (1) | No, you're forgetting something... Remember what he was wearing in the summer? |
(Flashback to Steven on the beach wearing his summer outfit; back to present)
Masked Woman | Oh no! You're right! |
Masked Man (1) | We've got to get out of here! There's no way we can take on a Champion! |
Masked Man (2) | My legs can't take any more running... |
(Transition to the Pasio arena)
Masked Man (1) | Can't...walk...anymore... |
??? | Oh, really? That's perfect. |
Masked Man (2) | Wah! |
(Lear, Rachel, and Sawyer appear)
Lear | I've heard all about your nefarious scheme. And I've gotta say... You chose the wrong type of Trainers on this island to mess with! |
Masked Man (1) | I think you're right. *sigh* Figures we'd run into you three. |
Masked Woman | It looks like we'll have to give up on our plan to make everyone wear masks. |
Masked Man (1) | I never would have guessed that people on Pasio love their glasses and sunglasses this much... |
Trivia
- This event's name is a play on the word spectacle, which means "an event or scene regarded in terms of its visual impact" when singular and "glasses" when plural.
